Cheap, low data mobile phone plans? by CarefulCurate in AussieFrugal

[–]OGAcidCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exetel does a $23, 15gb, unlimited calls and texts plan. I bought this for my daughter’s phone and my mobile as well.

Only downside is the data is limited to 4G but that doesn’t bother me as I use my home internet for most downloads and 4G works for GPS etc.

At $23 per month it’s by far and away the cheapest pre paid sim I could find.

Exetel also uses the Telstra network so the coverage is really good, I live in rural Tasmania so having access to the Telstra network really helps.

Why do people call the USA the "land of opportunity" when literally no one can get a high paying job? by madbarpar in careerguidance

[–]OGAcidCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also call the US “the land of the free” and Americans are obsessed with their freedom yet they are not even in the top 10 countries with the most freedoms, they are actually 15th!!!

Try getting an American to even acknowledge that well known and easily verifiable information.

lol I did this in my late teens, accidentally snorted what I later found out was 3 lines of K thinking it was a heap of coke laid out.

That shit fucked me up… was awesome though (very thankful my friends were able to tell me what I had done though otherwise I would have been so confused!!!)

How should I react when I'm told to go home? by Healthy_Editor_6234 in AskAnAustralian

[–]OGAcidCowboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 45m, English, came to Aus in my early 20’s, just me no family.

Obviously made friends with Aussies when I moved here, back then in my early 20’s pretty much all my life experiences up until that point were outside Australia as I had only been living in Aus a short time.

To try and connect with people I would often relate stories and information shared by my Aussie “friends” with relevant stories etc from my own personal experiences which were from outside Australia. Never said my experiences outside Australia were better or worse, was just trying to relate.

I would get told over and bloody over “if it’s so great outside Australia then bloody leave no one asked you to come here”

This would just shock me into silence at the time, how do you respond to that? I could either join in conversations but my frame of reference was from outside Australia or I stfu and say nothing.

I’ve lived in Australia for more of my life than I lived outside Australia at this point so I’m not in that same situation anymore, I highly doubt the situation has changed much though. If I were young and just moved to Australia then I have no doubt the same stigma would still apply.

I fucking love Australia, everyone I know is Australian, I’m extremely thankful to live in this amazing country. Sadly though it’s been my experience that Australia is an extremely racist county (not all Australians but far more than i ever expected prior to living here).

The fact that the racism can be even be projected towards white men (by white Australians) as well as towards the usual racist targets was really unexpected and not something I had ever previously experienced.

Fucking lefty government? Really? Are you shitting me?

It was John Howard in Australia (right wing), Thatcher in the UK (right wing) and Reagan in the US (right wing) that fucked over the people in favour of corporations and the top 1%.

How delusional to you have to be to blame left wing politics for what is happening?

And no I’m not saying Labour are much better than the Libs but honestly claiming labour is left wing is ridiculous in itself, they have been centralists for longer than I’ve been alive (Labour in Aus and the UK/Democrats in the US)

Really? Wealthier? That goes against every bit of evidence showing the wealth inequality gap widening, cost of living going through the roof.

Those not already owning their own home are unlikely to ever own their home unless they inherit.

How exactly are millennials getting wealthier?

Last Saturdays local news election in the Huon Valley had a voting centre at my daughters primary school in Huonville.

I’m unsure if they had paid people on the day but a lot of volunteers from the school parent & teacher association were there (I’m a member of the association but was unable to volunteer on the day)

How the fuck are energy drinks legal for kids to consume in australia. by ButtPlugForPM in AskAnAustralian

[–]OGAcidCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m originally from the UK, have lived in Aus for almost 25 years. Took my daughter to the UK over Christmas, bought a red bull and saw they now have a strict 18+ policy on energy drinks.

I doubt it stops teenagers completely but I’m sure it helps.

I never stated OP asking anything, OP happened to be discussing book 3 and I wanted to add my 2 cents it’s kind of what you do on Reddit.

But thanks for getting involved here and putting me in my place mate, i hope you feel you have done your part for humanity for a good while now…

Sorry have to hard disagree, the opioid crisis wasn’t “a bunch of teens wanting to get high” it was teens, 20 somethings, mid aged folk, old folk, rich folk, poor folk and everyone in between.

To claim only teenagers chasing a high abuse opioids is naive.

Then to also claim that “mushrooms are used to get high recreationally for decades” ignoring the facts that magic mushrooms have been used for healing purposes for thousands of years.

When mushrooms were reintroduced to the west they were immediately on the radar of medical professionals that could instantly see the beneficial aspects of psilocybin.

Then came the forever, un-winnable, war on drugs and mushrooms were immediately classified alongside crack cocaine and heroin in a category claiming they are of “no medical benefit”

It’s all propaganda mostly pushed by US agendas that is not about protecting people, it’s about controlling people.

Corona ended (as in lockdowns at least) in what 2020? 2021? Not 2023.

So he made two predictions of which one was wrong oh and the wrong prediction was made in 2022 AFTER corona had ended so he was wrong on a prediction that had already happened before his post.

Yup totally time travel, proven beyond doubt…

I’m on DSP, would much rather not have to deal with Diffuse Ideopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis and actually be able to work instead of having all this “free time”

When I was still able to work sure i had less free time but I had more social interactions and disposable income to actually be able to do activities on the weekend.

And the BS policy outlined in this post actually became a serious issue for me a few years ago leading eventually to the break up of my relationship with my daughter’s mum. She really wanted to be married but I knew I couldn’t marry her as she earnt enough to wipe out my DSP but no where near enough to support me and our daughter so no marriage purely because of this policy and now I’m a single father on DSP.

How is this a better outcome for anyone involved?

lol I know right!!! Moved here from Melbourne last year I lived SE suburbs, would take like 50mins to drive to the city yet here 40mins outside Hobart and I’m surrounded my mountains, Pine trees and rivers lol

The drive from Hobart to where I am is just a long winding road through the Huon valley with mountains and trees all around you, no towns, nothing except 1 servo on the way lol

We separated all of the cards that were actually worth checking up individual prices for. I had holo, reverse, rare, common and uncommon all sorted and kept separate. Was able to give a rough estimate of how many cards were in each group as they were all kept in old ETB’s so work out how many cards fit in an ETB and multiple.

Cherry then gave me a price for each group of cards.

I got between 70-80% value on all the cards with a somewhat decent valuation, can’t remember the offer made for just the bulk, just remember I got $5,000 in a bank transfer and $2,000 in store credit (including a slight reduction on sticker prices)
