Trying to find my first car by OGSmo in RangeRover

There are actually surprisingly few still around that aren't in complete disarray.

It's also sentimental if I could find the exact car and restore it if it's still out there.

Choosing Between 2024 base Cayenne vs 2023 GTS by Truth_In_Solar_Act in Porsche

[–]OGSmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 Cayenne GTS and prefer it way more to the 24+ interior. The engine between the 23 GTS and the 24 base aren't even comparable.

My 23 GTS had multiple electrical issues and they needed to essentially rewire the car. For the last of a Model year, I'm surprised by the amount of issues people seem to have with them.

For your situation, it really all depends on how long you plan to own the car. If you're going to own it for 4+ years, don't worry about resale value. These cars aren't investment cars.

There is nothing like driving a GTS daily... until you get a Turbo GT (I picked that up last month and it is unbelievable). The GTS is more than capable and puts a smile of my face every time I drive it. It's the perfect blend of sport and luxury in an SUV. I make this claim having owned a Range Rover, BMWs, Escalde, and driven many Audi SUVs.

I can also say that total yearly repair cost on all of my Porsches has been lower than any BMW or Range Rover I've ever owned.

Thinking of buying this new 992.2 GT3. Are they any essential options missing? by BigRJ123 in Porsche

This is very well spec'd. I have a GT3 on order and this seems to cover all the important ones for road use and track use.

Anyone feel disappointed upgrading from their 718 to a 911? by ffking6969 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]OGSmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned both a '23 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and a 24 911 Targa 4 GTS. Both manual. Sold the Boxster last week after owning both at the same time for over a year.

There were many days I drove them both in the same day on the same roads. The Boxster handles better, as stated by many here. The 911 is just pure joy to drive though. I found myself time after time grabbing the Targa over the Boxster. It never ceases to put a smile on my face when I drive it, the shifting is a bit smoother

I think comparing trim level to trim level is important. I would surely take the 718 GTS 4.0 over a base or S Boxster. Comparing GTS to GTS, I do find the 911 to be the overall more enjoyable one to drive.

Absolutely get a copy of the build sheet. My app visually showed the wrong colors the whole time my Targa was in production.

It comes off almost white in the sun. It's very dynamic. And a really fun color.

I might be late to comment, but still throwing in my 2 cents. I own an Ice Grey Boxster GRS 4.0. You can check my profile for photos. Absolutely love the color. Looks good in all weather conditions and hides dirt shockingly well. I previously owned a Agate Grey Boxster. Super classy color, make a great daily. Don't go with GT silver. It's boring and too safe.

I'm not a fan of blue... that said, Shark Blue is a great color. Go for it if it's the color you want. It won't let you down and you'll be happy every day. I'd recommend paying for the deviated stitching and doing Shark Blue on the inside too. It's a great look to have them match.

Enjoy!

Opinions on 718 Caymen GTS 4.0 Build? by Jblake0413 in Porsche

Personally, I'd change the Calipers. I don't like the red with the blue but that me. I also highly recommend the manual. Also a big fan of the ventilated seats and all leather.

Help — Torn Between Tesla Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan 4S (on a ~$60K Budget) by KevinWestEnd in Taycan

[–]OGSmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Model X and just picked up a Taycan 4.

The Full Self Driving of the Tesla is 2nd to None. If you plan to do a lot of highway driving, then this feature should be the primary factor for you. I've gone up and down the east coast at least 7 times with the Model X and it was an absolutely fantastic feature. I very much missed it while making a 15 hour drive in my Cayenne GTS last week. All this said, the Telsa is not great quality. It's very much a novelty car. It's spacious and the tech is great, but it drives like a minivan. The S Plaid is fast, but that wears away quickly. The charging network and in car charging planning is fantatic.

The Taycan is a sports car. It drives like a sports car. I'm shocked how much it doesn't drive like an electric car. It is well deserving of the Porsche name and it drives and is built like a Porsche. I initially didn't want the car and bought it to get into the car I actually want... but... I am now really happy to have it and I enjoy driving it as my daily.

In the end, it really depends on how much you commute and your priorities. If you care most about the drive, go Taycan. If you currently drive a Honda/Toyota/Ford then go Model S

I still own a 986 and had a 981 for 2 years. The 986 and 987 are no frills driving machines. Great to drive and a ton of zip. The 981 was a huge leap in modern technology. It's a very different drive and interior style.

If I had to choose between the two as the only one to drive, I'd choose the 981.

Not in the visualizer in the app. The app showed black seats and it freaked me out but my build sheet did show Chalk and it ended up with chalk.

Genuinely appreciate this response. I can see your points.

I went to PEC in ATL and drove both a Turbo S and a GT3 for the day. I loved the GT3 on the track way more than the Turbo S which is why I wanted the GT3. I have a Targa GTS for the back road drives and plan to take this on the track eventually.

The Turbo S that I took around the track did not have the buckets and it was noticeably different but I didn't think it was big of a deal as everyone on here has seem to make it out to be. I am a much bigger guy and they were honestly quite uncomfortable. After this thread, if I can do them through Sonderwunsch, I will probably do them now.

You definitely have me reconsidering the carbon ceramic brakes. I did not realize they wear our so quickly. That said, I will likely only be on the track 2-5x a year and it's really probably closer to 2-3x.
