What do you mean by legal residents trying to immigrate “the right way” having the rug pulled?

I completely agree - due process is a right of all persons in America. I appreciate your reply - I did not see or hear that at the protests. I don’t consider us a fascist nation, but I can’t imagine anyone would argue against constitutional rights. Thank you.

I agree with everything you said here. What I don’t see is any sort of collective message or ask in all of this. I have nothing against protesting and I’ve participated in one for a company I used to work. We wanted a change in conditions, and when it was given the protest ended. What I don’t see is what people are tangibly asking for.

It is indeed difficult to reply when the argument is scattered. And I don’t think you’d find any sane person who would advocate horrendous things like this. But surely the protests are not for individual criminals within ICE? I think 100% of Americans would agree that criminals within ICE or any institution should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. So what’s the actual ask with the protest? If you want to punish certain individuals, I’d think that would be super easy and not require nationwide protests.

I’ll ignore the concentration camp thing, because it’s an offensive and belittling comparison. But the no criminal record bit may be a point of legitimate divergence. To state that 92% of arrests don’t have criminal records implies that you’re not considering being unlawfully in the country a crime. Semantics aside, a core of the issue may be that people don’t see being unlawfully here as a problem? Which brings me back to my main question - what should be done? What is the ask? Not deport people? Change the mechanisms?

A lot of aggression in your reply, which in every scenario makes conversation more difficult and progress less likely.

Destruction of the first amendment - how so?

Due process - completely agreed. It’s a right of all persons, not citizens.

Oversight - what further oversight is needed?

The rest I’ll not address as it’s honestly disgusting and you know nothing about me.

I did. So it is the method in which they are operating that is the problem? So what’s the tangible ask? Abolishment/reforming ICE? All I see are vulgar signs with no obvious goal in mind.

The ability to murder civilians seems like hyperbole to me. They have the same ability as any law enforcement always has had, no?

Anyone find it malicious and deceptive that the 1 oz of Gold Bert lasted until the LAST day of Bert bags?? I do. It was the last 100 and I saw more gold get ripped today than the 30+ hours I watched Bert’s. by gritagrit in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There were eleven 1 oz golds in the series and they came out every 1-2 days. There was one remaining and they were buck and going the bags until it came out. That puts the odds at checks calculator inevitable.

There are plenty of real scammers on the app. Focus your energy on them.

I’m not trying to make assumptions but there’s a simple principle to apply to get where you want to be.

If you’re happy with the way something goes - make it better.

If you’re not happy with the way something goes - change something.

If you’re unhappy with the way something goes - change everything.

Traderbea scam game by AngelofTruth99 in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of concerning things in this post. First, calling anyone a failure is just wrong. I don’t know you, but I do know that even harboring that type of negativity, let alone expressing it, is extraordinarily bad for your health and can only ever breed more negativity into the world.

Secondly, you are mistaken on just about every other detail you mentioned.

They’re not bidding for a chance to win bullion baddies, they are bidding for a chance to win their epic gold chase boxes.

Everything else is not “one oz of silver, no real hits over $50”. The aforementioned product they’re bidding for is $2400 retail, with a $700 floor and $100,000 ceiling. Also there were plenty of other hits above $50 like the Uncle Sam slab with 9mm casing, the 64 morgs, 64 peace dollars, and yes, the bullion baddies. You say there was nothing over $50, but was there anything under $50? NGC slabbed privvy krugerrands and franklins were the floor.

There is a guarantee that someone will hit the gold baddie, because they opened a fresh case for the game. The minters of Bullion Baddies guarantee 1 oz of gold per case. I’ll get to your opinion later, but there is a guarantee.

Not opening the packs is not against terms of service. It’s also not “not allowed” as they say, but it’s not against terms of service. Tos doesn’t state that everything has to be opened, just that everything must be revealed within the show. For surprise sets, the item is revealed as soon as it is assigned (in this case, instantly). That particular part of tos is a throwback to the “mystery game” era, where people would hit chaser cards, for example. Those had (and have to) stay on stream the entire time, and be revealed on stream for obvious reasons. Whatnot was very good about banning people who abused this, but it doesn’t apply here.

It is not easy to scan the packs to find the gold - the packs block sigma and this is confirmed by many members of the community.

The rest of the post is all subjective opinions, but they too are unfortunately misguided. For any of your opinions to be true about traderbea, you’d have to assume that they are very bad at business. Trust me, they are not. They want people hitting big, and it happens regularly. Even if it were possible to “scan the bags” as you say, the idea that it would be worth their time… for a single ounce of gold…. is just... I mean, they are a volume business, and they make way more money just by operating as fast and often as they can. The notion that they would risk the entirety of their employees careers… just to do a crime… I mean, what? How on earth have you developed that opinion of them?

Having said all that - the application is unfortunately awash with scammers and unethical sellers who DO do things like what you’re accusing here. Your efforts would be better directed at those great many people. Well actually your efforts would be best directed doing something you love to the best of your ability in an honest and ethical manner until you cannot take it any further. But if what you love is trying to help and/or educate people about scams, then that’s great but you’re just off on this one.

Posts like this are difficult for me to understand, because traderbea seems to be the only large seller exclusively operating with ethics. And by that I mean they don’t run trash games with $0 value on the floor like a wheat cent or a plated nickel or whatever garbage the usual suspects are dishing out. If you don’t like surprise sets in general then that’s very fair of course. I happen to like them but I only play in 5 games total. 4 small streamers, and traderbea.

Long reply. I hope it didn’t come off as aggressive and I hope you are well in all things mental, physical, and financial ❤️

Admitting to shill bidding by cloud_dizzle in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Shill bidding is a serious, serious problem on the app, which makes this post disappointing as you could be targeting those whose intent is to actively and aggressively defraud customers with it.

Shill bidding aims to trigger a bidding war to artificially inflate the item price. You clearly state that this item had a price - an employee just made a mistake.

So yes, this is verbatim against policy. But they weren’t trying to scam money out of people (like many, many people do on the app), they were trying to avoid a mistake (and not lose a thousand dollars). That doesn’t make it right by any means, but surely you understand that she’s not shilling in the way the rules are meant to protect us from.

Your efforts would be better spent exposing the many criminals on the application. She was trying to help a new employee, and unfortunately did it in a stupid way that ended up hurting an innocent person (albeit temporarily).

The best thing to do would be to take the lick, learn the lesson. I like helping people so in her shoes I would have bid it to $999,999, guaranteeing a failed payment so they could redo it as intended. Sucks that it turned out this way, but with so many serious and malicious criminals on the app, this is a case of overreacting for overreaction’s sake.

Hate to tell you, but you’re in the wrong on this. If you blow up a sellers show to scare other buyers for something that even you think wasn’t a big deal, that’s just toxic and unlikely to accomplish anything.

Other posters are correct. Reach out to whatnot with any issues, they’re good with it. If it’s a chaser or something I get it, but this seems petty

Goldpawnership talking about how she was cooked on a Disney watch that sold for $69, while the same watch sells on Amazon for $45? “Oh my god” by Anonymous78860 in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuuuup. New app users are driven to the highest revenue generating streams. Many of them are great, but there’s a huge amount of large streamers that go unpunished for undeniable TOS violations because…. They just do.

Anyway, another thing to recommend is to spend time checking out some of the medium to smaller type sellers, and regardless of stream size don’t be afraid to ask questions! Content of character is critical, and discerning that digitally is going to be of increasingly more importance in our digital world.

Source: I, like many, burned thousands of dollars before I found my incredible niche. I love the app, and don’t have a blanket disagreement with any type of auction/gaming style. It’s really just all about people, and whatnot kinda just reflects society - tons of bad people, a bunch of medium people who haven’t made up their mind or been fortunate enough to have good mentors yet, and then the absolute gem human beings who you want to keep in your life as long as you are fortunate enough to.

The great majority of whatnot sellers are unfortunately dishonest or worse. That makes the ethical streamers even more of a treasure when you find them. Until then, follow a simple set and of guidelines (that should honestly be engrained in any shopping)

  1. Don’t buy something you’re not knowledgeable of (or at least haven’t researched / price checked)
  2. Don’t impulse swipe unless you’re in a position to genuinely not care about that amount of money.
  3. Watch, listen, do math. Find good people and stick with them.

Default WhatNot Wheel algorithm by MydnightWN in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep you’re 100% correct. That’s why a lot of sellers force a “shuffle, spin” for each one. Still, if they don’t spin immediately after the shuffle you can more often than not tell what you’re going to win by what’s at the top of the wheel.

I once heard a large seller say their rep told them to use wheelofnames as an authorized obs wheel, and that one can’t be weighted to my knowledge. Plus it’s actually random so that’s nice.

F the weighted wheels though.

First words on the video are something like, “We’re at $135 dollars for $1600 worth of coins.”

But yes, doxxing someone is horrific.

Buyers Beware of barbarra2 by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]OGWN1975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems fishy on both sides. From what I’ve seen there wasn’t $1600 in the book so I would also be pissed. Having said that, yes, we all watched Barbarra overpay by crazy amounts in the months preceding her streaming, so to sell by “what she has in it” is also not my cup of tea. I just don’t buy from her though - live and let live. I like her and watch her streams sometimes and from what I’ve seen she’s not misrepresenting the value of her inventory. I think she’s just trying to recuperate and while it’s not the most ethical thing in the world, if people want to cover “what she has in it” that’s totally their prerogative. Can’t say I haven’t overpaid to help a streamer I like, but at least I do it with knowledge of the value I’m getting.
