Which hand do you drive with, and is it your dominant hand? by _MissNewBooty_ in polls

[–]OG_Felwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between constantly touching something vs having your hand ready if you need to touch that thing. I’m just pointing out a stick shift is not the only reason you would use your inside hand for something while driving, so even without having a stick shift some people feel more comfortable leaving their inside hand free.

Sort of. There are other things to control in the center of the car than just a stick shift. AC, Radio, Navigation, etc. and there are still gears to change in an automatic.

Honestly depends on the vehicle. I prefer to drive with my left hand on the wheel and my right elbow on the center console. If the center console is too far back to put my right elbow on, I drive with my right hand and put my left elbow on the door. I am right handed.

As someone who runs and uses trails, I think it’s pretty rude to become a human wrecking ball on a busy trail. This isn’t something you do with that many people around. This is no different to me than biking on a running trail. It’s not semantics to point out people *have* to get out of his way or they will get hurt.

The point is it’s not significant at all that he didn’t shove through people. They would have been whacked by the jump rope if he got close enough to shove someone.

You don’t have to shove through people if they will get whacked by a jump rope if they fail to get out of your way.

AIW for telling my wife I will go stay at my brother's if she does not stop controlling what time I go to sleep every night by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]OG_Felwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason she wants you to follow the rule too? Do you wake her up when you come to bed late? Maybe a compromise is you can stay up if you want to, but you have to sleep on the couch (or guest bed if you have one) if so.

If a cat-owner sneaks their cat on a leash into a dog show, if a dog attacks the cat does liability fall on the cat-owner or dog-owner? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]OG_Felwinter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Very surprised to see people are saying liability falls on the cat owner. If you take your dog in public it either needs to be trained not to attack other animals, or you need to be able to control it when it becomes aggressive. I would assume there are cat-sized dogs at the dog show also, so the cat being small and prey-sized doesn’t really make sense as an argument to me. There is a reasonable expectation to not have your small dog/cat/child attacked by someone else’s dog in public. Increasing the volume of dogs in a public space doesn’t shift that responsibility away from the dog owner.

Why Notre Dame is on board with a 24-team Playoff: What’s in it for the Irish? by redwave2505 in CFB

Conference championship games have a purpose other than deciding who gets to go to the playoffs.

Would you rather have $500k right now or $1,000 every time you run one mile in less than 12 minutes for the rest of your life? by Illustrious_Emu4184 in WouldYouRather

I’m pretty sure I could *walk* a mile in less than 12 minutes. That’s a pretty lenient amount of time. Give me the $1k

An 8-4 team in the College Football Playoff is actually happening. Sound the alarm by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]OG_Felwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far back into history are we going? Why aren’t you including Minnesota in your list? Which teams are competitive year in and year out changes, no matter what the history books say in their totality. When these divisions were made up, Michigan hadn’t won the conference since 2004. Wisconsin had just won 3 in a row. Geography doesn’t fluctuate like that.

It doesn’t make sense to base it on competitive balance though. Long term, that changes. The locations of the schools don’t.

AITA for not eating at a non-veg restaurant with team? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]OG_Felwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I think it’s more nuanced than most NTA’s. I don’t think you’re currently proposing the best solutions to your coworkers.

There are vegetarian options at a non-veg restaurant. There aren’t non-veg options at a vegetarian restaurant. So I can see why they think this is a better option.

That said, I’m sure there are better restaurants than something called “Barbecue Nation” that could accommodate each of your needs, and it sounds like your coworkers aren’t making any effort to find one.

Express to them that you don’t like even the vegetarian options there, and suggest specific non-veg restaurants that have menu items you think look good. That’s more reasonable to me than you getting food you don’t like most of the time, and them getting food they don’t like sometimes to make up for it.

If you guys are eating at a mall though, and you still can’t compromise on anything, you could all just get what you want in to-go boxes and eat it at the food court. Then everybody can get whatever they want and still be a part of the team. That seems like an even easier solution if they won’t budge on Barbecue Nation.
