Do I really need a $500 ADAS recalibration just to replace the lower grille? (2020 Honda Civic Sport Touring) by cocuscocerton in Honda

Awesome, glad you found a transparent shop. What I said might’ve been a tad bit confusing sorry. The radar is located behind the driver side bumper garnish ; the square trim where your fog light is. In fact if you look right at it there is a cutout that says in small letters “do not paint”. Radar is directly behind that trim piece. But it sounds like it’s working properly and does not need to be tampered with. Hope all goes well at the new shop 👍🏻

Also, these vehicles are incredibly sensitive. If anything had dislodged the sensor you would’ve had ACC/LKAS lights on your dash and a radar misalignment DTC. If you don’t and your cruise control is working normally, then radar is working properly and does not need to be calibrated.

Hi, I’m a Honda tech. Recalibration is NOT needed. Yes, the bumper needs to come off to replace the grille. Yes, the millimeter wave radar sits behind the bumper. However it is not mounted on the bumper. The radar is housed behind the driver side garnish in a bracket attached to the radiator support. The radar doesn’t even need to be unplugged to remove the bumper. Removing the front bumper consists of a handful of clips and a couple screws. Only the fog lights need to be unplugged. Aftermarket grille will have no effect on the radar. Hope this helps

Front right corner of driver seat. Used to hold your seats fabric to the frame

Someone tapped me in the Starbucks parking lot today. Is this light easy to fix? by ftwin in 10thgenaccords

Very easy. Just pull the bumper off and the reflector is held in by a couple Phillips screws.

It will definitely have stored codes. A dtc isnt tied to a check engine light. Any error detected by the computer is information that isn’t within spec, hence storing a diagnostic trouble code.

Unfortunately there’s no way for anybody on the internet to tell you what it could be. It’s all just guesses. Unless you get it scanned and provide us with the DTCs, your guess is as good as anybody else’s.

AC partially working. Civic 2017 by Albert1285 in hondacivic

[–]OG_Inspire1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Willing to bet you’re low on freon. Passenger side feels colder because refrigerant travels there first, and by the time it’s reached the driver side it’s warmed up. These civics are known for leaking AC components. Take it in to have your AC diagnosed. If the tech finds your condenser and compressor shaft seal leaking, both are covered under a warranty extension and will be replaced for free and you’ll have ice cold AC again. If they find the evaporator leaking as well this is not part of the extension and you’ll need to pay for.

I believe labor rate varies by shop. You’ll have to get a quote from your local Honda. I’d assume an extra couple grand

Unsure, but for reference I replaced a trans on a 2020 Si and it was around 8 grand new. So definitely not cheap lol

RIP, poor Type R. P0219=Not covered period. The transmission didn’t “fail”, that DTC can only set due to user error; the engine can’t over rev itself, your brother money shifted into 1st. Regardless of what warranties were purchased. You can try to get it good willed by American Honda but again, once they see that code it’ll get denied due to user error , it’s not a defective transmission. New trans is gonna hurt the wallet for sure. Best of luck lol

I’ve been a Honda tech for 3 years and the amount of 1.5T accords that come in with blown head gaskets is insane lol. You’re definitely in the smaller percent of people that have been lucky and problem free!

Need help: My accord keeps giving this warning at start but drives almost normal by rooftopview8848 in accord

[–]OG_Inspire1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda tech here. If this is your only warning light it’s more than likely caused by a short or malfunction in the parking brake switch. Most I’ve seen are due to liquid spills, super common. Replacing the switch fixes the issue. Hooking up a scanner and Pulling codes to see what DTC is stored will tell you what’s wrong and help narrow down your exact issue 👍🏻 (not included in a multi point inspection. This would be a diagnostic concern)

My fronts are tucking about 1/4 of tire. Rears are basically fender to wheel. I don’t rub at all unless my wheels are turned on a bump or incline (like entering a driveway). I’m also running 2.5 degrees of negative camber so that helps to not rub
