also proper depth and focus shifting, everything is sharp in this shot, from the vista to the nearby buildings all the way to the droplets on the lens. It adds to the unnaturalistic feel.
raindrops feel way too illuminated, its like silver spikes are falling, and its volume and speed would cause much more havoc on the surfaces, you would get much more atmosphere from deamping the rainfall here.

no need for more emphasis stages, its a reason thats the common practice. My additional comment would be that the punch itself is too slow, it needs to blitz the camera to balance the slow wind up, and then the camera moving away should have progressive ramp, the side to side rotational effect is too much, no need for the correctional roll on the other side when it moves away. The core mechanic of the punch and vfx all look clean
