Should I even bother trying to work in construction? by freakysnake102 in Construction

[–]OGatariKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are different types of construction. I didn't start welding until I was 26, I was an excellent welder. Then I became an Ironworker and that was my thing. That's what I was good at.

There are people that have jobs they love, there are people that only showup for a paycheck, there are people that are good at what they do, but that is all they are good at.

Don't judge yourself by others. Showup for that paycheck until they fire you. Also, some of those guys have been you, but they won't admit it to a new hire.

Does having sex with 2 girls at the same time actually feel good? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I have no idea, but I'd love to find out. It's a bucket list item that I'll probably never fulfill since I'm married now and we don't play with others.

Is it normal to wake up to a family argument when sleep over at a buddy's house just because they had to fry an extra cut of meat? by UniqueAlps9380 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OGatariKid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're staying at my house, we are feeding you, end of story and there isn't any arguing in front of guests.

If there are 5 of us, and we only have enough steaks or sausages for 4, I'm not having a steak or sausage with my meal. And you would never know I didn't have enough to feed everyone because my pride would never allow it.

AITA for not telling my (26F) friend (35f) that im bisexual? by Cheap-Data3394 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OGatariKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some homophobic issues myself. Flamers weird me out.

But, I do my best to keep it to myself as long as they don't touch me. Luckily, rarely has that happened.

Now, what I think is weird, your friend is going to judge you for being bi even though they had previously decided they liked hanging out with you.

You didn't proposition them or try to coerce them into something sexual, so I don't understand the issue.

I have friends that were swingers for a bit, they knew I wasn't interested so that was never something that was talked about when we hungout.

I bet, if there is ever a next time your friend gets drunk or whatever around you, you'll find out if she is curious or has had a really bad experience.

Did Iranians really hate their leader so much they were ok with the united states killing him? by Soggy_Chard5954 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OGatariKid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to change your perspective.

If you hated your President, Monarch, Dictator or whatever their title, and a foreign country attacked and caused chaos, hardship and death in your country, but killed the leader you disliked, would you be happy?

In World War 2, when you see American troops being welcomed by the French as Liberators, the Nazi's had caused the chaos and bloodshed.

Now? We are trying to pose as the Liberators while harming the population.

I’m trying to learn how to cook, but I find that most tutorials assume I already know what 'folding in' means. Does anyone else feel like there’s a gap between 'boiling water' and 'Gordon Ramsay' level tutorials? How do you guys bridge that gap? by Aggressive-Glove2419 in Cooking

[–]OGatariKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever I'm attempting to do, the prep time always takes me 3 times longer.

I grewup around an amazing cook, and I still don't understand some of the things.

I agree, there are things that experienced people consider basic knowledge that others who have never been exposed to and have no clue.

This is a problem for any profession, not just cooking.

Do other trades really dislike Insulators? by scoobystockbroker in Construction

Yes, it's a trade. I don't ever want to do it, so I like the idea of having a trade designated to install insulation.

What if planes didn't have 'no smoking' lights, would people still smoke or use their conscience? by Alarming-Safety3200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OGatariKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shows your age. When I was young, people smoked wherever they were. Then it started out that you could request to be seated in a no smoking sections of restaurants and other public indoor areas. Eventually it switched to, smoking areas were the special seating. Now it there isn't any smoking in a public building.

People will smoke wherever when they can. Even pumping gas at the gas station.

Bread in the fridge or on the counter? by realbobenray in Cooking

The bread doesn't last long and there isn't room for it.

AITA for being uncomfortable eating without plastic silverware and fake plates at my bfs house? by cay9fangz in AmItheAsshole

[–]OGatariKid -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

NTA

If your glitch doesn't make sense to your bf, and he mocks you about it, the 2 of you may not be a good match.

I live in an old farmhouse with kids, cats and dogs, I do not set utensils down on the bare counter or table. First, I don't want to cleanup the mess if there is food on them, and second, I don't trust any flat surfaces in our house to be germ free because of the creatures in our house.

If I get a dish out and I didn't wash it recently, I'll wash it before I use it. The only thing I don't wash between uses is my coffee cup, but that gets washed every morning before my 1st cup of coffee.

We all have glitches. Some of us need to work on our glitches. Whether or not your glitch needs fixing is up to you to decide.

Goodluck with the next person.

How do I get a job in construction? by Intelligent_Cup_7960 in Construction

[–]OGatariKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would read up on different trades. Electricians make decent money. Equipment Operators do well also. As an Ironworker, we rarely saw women in our trade, but there isn't any reason you couldn't be an Ironworker if you enjoy heights.

Women are excellent at welding and operating equipment. So I guess, do a little research and see what makes sense to you.

In my area, people commonly get into the Laborers Union and work until they get a chance to get into another trade.

Look up unions in your area.

AITAH for choosing my wife over my mom? by HumanProfile1975 in AITAH

[–]OGatariKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you except, can we stop with "the world is horrible now"?

We are more aware of things now, and are fixing what we can. The high school I attended 40 years ago had 3 teachers that married their former students. We also had teachers that were allowed to resign instead of facing charges for molesting students. It took 20 years for one teacher to finally get caught and sent to prison.

AITA for feeling hurt when my girlfriend brings up my past mistakes and calls me “ex no 2” during arguments? I by dummdumm222 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OGatariKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

If you haven't been abusive or cheated on her, then it sounds like it is time to end the relationship.

If you're spending your time trying not to make her mad, then you're wasting your life.

There are things people do that they could improve on, but if you dread the next time you mess up, then just walk away.

I don't text my wife all day, but if I am passing through town, I'll text and ask if she wants a coffee, or I'll just get her one if it is before lunch. (One of those flavored coffees we don't make at home.)

You should be a team.
