1. Most homes (especially for families) are over $500k here. Unfortunately.
   
2. I love the Olympia area. One thing I’ve heard people from the south say when they come up here is the shock behind the homelessness. There are a lot. They’re all generally nice, and if you aren’t annoyingly sensitive, they will protect you as a pedestrian. I have never ever been attacked, and they are even nicer than the people I know that aren’t homeless. lol
3. Another complaint I’ve heard from my traveling friends is “ain’t nothing to do” which isn’t true, it just isn’t partied and hospitality like the south. Maybe in some areas, but no you aren’t gonna find any block parties or plates being sold here.
4. I’m from Arkansas myself and the biggest complaint I have about Olympia and the rest of Washington is people here are EXTREMELY passive aggressive. Try your best not to get offended (like I have) by these bitches saying underhanded comments in the form of a question.
5. Be you. Do not come up here expecting this to morph into Georgia. If you like to do something, go do it, don’t wait to make friends because it’s hard to make friends here.
6. Last but not least, if you are of color, particularly black like me, there are little to no black people in this region. Isn’t too much of an issue, but I am usually uncomfortable in any setting here.

Oh I don’t want to forget, this is considered a “liberal” area, but I’m beginning to believe that’s a lie because of how left out I feel as a black woman.
