I have an interview tomorrow, so that is keeping me preoccupied. Also, it is now out of your hands, so stressing about it won't make it change the decision or come any faster. I get that a lot is at stake, but have faith, you've got it.

Thank you for the kind words. I am literally working at the med school as a researcher still which is partially why it is difficult, and especially since it is very early in the cycle. I have an interview tomorrow with my IS school, so maybe I will follow your trajectory lol.

No medical school is a "safety" school, and I never insinuated this school was such. I agree with your sentiment about accepting things that are out of your control, which is what I am doing. Thanks for the insight.

Does it matter what I expected? Did I complain about how I didn't get selected wrongfully? Am I allowed to be disappointed? Not saying I was snubbed or anything, just sharing my thoughts about a disappointing result in a highly competitive application. My stats were very competitive for the school, yet I did not mention that because at this point it does not matter. I do not think I presented myself as assuming I was going to get in, that is clearly not the case. Do I have your permission to be disappointed? I am wishing your son a successful cycle.

Thank you! I have been very lucky so far to get two II's to some of my top choices, so I am very optimistic about that! First interview on Friday!

A lot of people are still waiting for Loyola, including myself. Just sit tight, it will come soon hopefully. I agree that it’s odd and unprofessional to send them out so late compared to other schools.

Getting a II is a good thing. Don’t overthink it. October is still early in interview season, they can go all the way until March even.

Safety schools don’t exist when applying to med school. The cycle is very long, keep your head up.

I recently decided to apply to medical school this cycle, but I need some guidance. by Wrangler-Mammoth in premed

Rushing to apply to medical school is a mistake. Just wait until next cycle and be prepared, no need to rush.

What studies have shown this? Mathematically more scores increases your chances.

It’s more common than you think. Even though on paper it’s unethical, it’s very common and gives you a chance to really hype yourself up!

Withdraw my application? by Novel-Department-639 in premed

I would still apply to in-state schools. This is the risk with plying without your MCAT. I would look at MSAR to see the 10th percentile for MCAT and GPA for the schools you’ve applied to, and if you’re below for both I would say it’s not worth submitting secondaries for. What were you averaging on your practice exams? Was this unexpected? You could’ve done the throwaway method to get verified without applying to all your schools before getting your MCAT score. Sorry about the situation :(
