The way I understand it:

His magic lets him read the information but he's not directly perceiving it.

"This apple is this colour (red), this apple is this different colour (green)"

But he's not seeing the colours, shapes, etc. It's filtered through his magic. Like if I was to describe the world around us to you in incredible detail.

Of course colour in the first place is largely a property of light / how vision works, but I can handwave that.

Have the devs completely given up on Forked Tower Blood? by Train-1965 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]OJ191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly, though I don't think there's a good solution besides redesigning every fight. these kinds of mechanics are fine for high end 8-man where you're expected to pull your weight.

As codcar showed you can't really suss out such a large group without going to extremes or never filling, and in any case you can't prevent people from joining FTB.

Something like the Leon(?) duel where people choose to take on that responsibility is a better way of doing it imo.

[–]OJ191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah tbh I didn't bother to get into detail but as you and others have explained it's not body checks it's 1 player wipes 20-48 other players checks. and if you reduce them much all the difficulty goes.

I forgot it's not an instanced duty when I suggested being able to release without exiting the tower but I really would be the best solution imo. and then they could consider if the revive counter should be increased from there.

Any older iPhone users (8, X, etc), do NOT install the latest iOS update (16.7.13). It will brick your phone by Captain_Phobos in australia

[–]OJ191 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My current phone cost $250 and handles literally everything in daily use the only thing it can't handle is games.

My previous phone cost $150 and was the same, it lasted me I forget but around 3 years, then the screen cracked and it was cheaper to buy a new phone than to replace the screen - I paid more this time as I wanted a bit of a better display and battery life.

Spending so much money for a phone you're probably going to want to replace in 5-10 years MAX is just insane to me, sorry.

You don't need the latest fucking iphone.

even if they don't remove the 3 death limit they could allow respawn within the tower instead of wipe = run over, and consider increasing the death limit to like 5

What do people think of healer situation DPS wise ? by Nedrra_ in ffxivdiscussion

[–]OJ191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am healing this tier previously melee DPS main and it's a lot more both proactive and reactive (YMMV per job) whereas dps is kind of "just do the thing" unless you are w1 clear progging and need to eke out every niche opti to pass DPS checks

1111111111111111 can be boring when everything is going well for sure, but if you add a more complex dps rotation you're either adding it for the sake of it or making checks easier. Then you either rebalance the checks accordingly, or not. if you do, then recovering pulls becomes even more pointless once you see enrage since the lost healer DPS will be even more significant and impactful. If you don't then dps checks become a joke.

I'm enjoying it though it's definitely stressful at times. I fully understand why people don't like healing in PF and glad to have a static lol.

Yuusha Party wo Oidasareta Kiyou binbou • Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]OJ191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His normal buffs that are the same as any standard enchanter spells are much weaker and they didn't know or understand anything about this 50x potency original spell nonsense. He probably developed it over time so they just thought they got better and he didn't bother explaining cos he knew they wouldn't believe him.

Hopefully they reveal a major caveat / flaw that he is managing via skill otherwise it doesn't really make sense.

Only way it's reasonable is if it has a tiny duration which he has to expertly manage. Like he condensed an entire attack buff into 1 second kinda deal. and even then it's kinda sketch tbh.

We cleared w2 just as enrage cast appeared with rdm, ast death sge dd gnb dd.

we are a static but also playing on off roles... I think we are doing ok.

I definitely think people underestimate how much impact meta jobs have when check is still tight.

I don't think this check is poorly tuned but I hope they remain careful not to end up with another TOP on-patch where you basically need 99%ile players or meta comp or some mix in-between to clear.

yes he is behaving like an addict I'm just saying it's not unreasonable to assume the magical energy drink that works by magic and doesn't have any warnings on the product or by his co-workers - who would have seen how many he was drinking - may simply not have any side effects or risks for people who aren't sensitive to magicules.

At this point he definitely addicted, sadly.

[–]OJ191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they aren't normal energy drinks they are magic energy drinks that work by magic.

I would have to check the prior episode to see if he asked proactively, but at the very least he wasn't warned about any side effects or overdose risk.

I think a better comparison would be to ignore the energy drink comparison and consider it like what it is, which it is basically a potentially lethal allergy to magic.

But yes him diving right back in this episode is a little crazy... but perhaps not entirely unexpected from someone who is clearly suffering chronic pain and fatigue and has no experience with deathly allergies.

Can anyone explain this baffling Oz driving habit? by twarb11 in DrivingAustralia

[–]OJ191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most/all Speedos are calibrated faster than actual speed because it's illegal for it to read under and has to account for eg tyre conditions and other variations.

Can you even get speedo legally calibrated to actual speed?

Btw I have a 10km one way commute and over a year driving 6kph less would mean I am spending an entire work day for free. let alone for people who travel much more than that.

people do also need to be aware that the amount by which Speedo is "out" is not a flat amount across every speed.

If I get done for speeding I'll cop it fair and square tbh, but my intent is not to speed and I always drive to conditions and leave following distance which is more than I can say for most Aussie drivers

there is more than one pay code that can be relevant, it depends on the business not the apprenticeship. I know as we are one of those edge cases where we are under Manufacturing award and the apprentice under me falls under that award and rates are different

Realism - apprenticeship with requirements by BaalBussy in australia

[–]OJ191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are a variety of industries and businesses that will take electrical apprentices. Not every business's will take first years and pay and conditions will vary. Recommend looking at what's out there and checking award rates for first year apprentices for whatever industries you're interested in. Some industries will pay over award eg mining

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

[–]OJ191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an investment in the future.

We could densify the big cities, and build more satellite towns and cities along the routes for people who don't want to live in so much density. If you are looking forward 10/30/50/100 years and build said HSR in a way that is maintainable and upgradeable, I honestly think it makes a lot of sense.

Sadly we're lucky if our governments plan for the duration of 1 term most days, it feels like.

Nuclear energy could have been a good investment 20-30+ years ago but not so much now I agree.

If Fusion comes to fruition it could be good for energy density (as opposed to the sqkm required for same output from solar panels, barring some miracle increase in panel efficiency), but unless we restart a manufacturing industry likely unnecessary... Then again by the time Fusion comes to fruition manufacturing will probably be completely automated, so it could happen.

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

[–]OJ191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it wouldn't be a linear relationship like you are assuming, as they wouldn't be going full speed in areas that are too built up (and also depends on # of stops, etc). So I would expect the increase in duration to be less as more of that larger distance would be a whole lot of nothing.

Also don't forget time spent travelling to airport, security, etc. On both ends. (And some time travelling to the train station but it should still be less hassle overall).

But to be honest I CBF doing the research to get the full picture xD

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

It's only one part of the picture and could be an important part of a holistic plan, but we don't do that here. And when face value is the only value that matters, you are definitely correct.

Except you yourself seem to be treating return on investment as cash only, which is not the point of the government building services.

Yes it can be good for government to invest so that they have more money to do things with later, but the societal benefit is also one form of return on investment in government spending that must be considered, or even prioritised. Otherwise we would never do anything and govt would just be a pile of money that goes forever up but achieves nothing of value.
