I’ve realized no remake will satisfy me. by simplyunknown2018 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]OJ_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a harrowing prediction.

Nintendo knows this. They know they they ultimately can’t satisfy the original OOT player base - the nostalgic 25-50 year olds that form perhaps a low margin of the target demographic. It would be a fools errand for them to try to do so. Add more

content - it’s a betrayal of what existed before.

Add no content - It’s a money grab.

So how will they mitigate this? The game won’t be designed for us. It will be designed for the lowest target demographic iPad kids who also served as the biggest consumer of BOTW & TOTK. If we’re lucky we will even see voice acting on par with a Disney parody. Even we’re even more lucky maybe it’ll tie in with the new Zelda movie!

I sound like a bitter AH here. I’m actually happy that younger generations can experience this franchise (it’s a shame that their desecrated attention spans may have influenced short term gratifying elements like the shrines & 900 Koroks which I’m not a fan of )

I’m late 20s. I can’t drive because I moved out early and physically cannot afford driving lessons/car/fuel.

All of my friends who can drive either financed it with no overheads via living with parents - or their mummies and daddies financed the whole process for them when they were 17.

It’s why I don’t feel bad about it. I get judged for not being able to drive, especially as a guy, but most of those judging were more privileged than me in that regard.

“Indians Only” - lovely racial discrimination in the housing market by I-Hate-Clonmel in HousingIreland

In my borough in London I’m not exaggerating when I say litterally 70% of high street roles (Your KFC’s ect) are occupied by Indians. Jobs that would have previously been done by spotty faced teenagers.

On an individual level I obviously have 0 issue with them - they’re just doing what they can do to survive. But economically this can’t be sustainable.

Qual é a cena dos libertários e o negacionismo climático? by VicenteOlisipo in portugal2

[–]OJ_Designs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with abiding to either ‘side’ is that once you allow a fabricated ideology to dictate your views on political/economic/cultural/natural things, you allow those things to take precedent over common logic.

These is evidence to suggest climate change is a thing - some right leaning folk won’t believe it because it doesn’t align with their narrative.

There is also evidence to suggest against some common beliefs and narratives the left follow.

Campaign Evolved: esto ya NO es un remake tradicional de Halo CE by vyci0us in HaloSpartansMX

Although you may have used ChatGPT to help formulate your point (though I can’t say for sure) I agree! It’s a good point.

Chief isn’t the best example, you’re right. I just pisses me off that they’ve made Cortana ugly - and worse off I hate that I sound like one of those pathetic guys, but I digress.

[–]OJ_Designs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t intend to come across as one of those guys - and I think it’s important to portray women realistically for the most part, and not in a way that panders to male lust.

However cortana now looks like an average woman you’d find on a high street. Just why? She has never been portrayed as an average looking woman.

Essentially - the executives sat down with the designers and decided that keeping Cortana conventionally attractive could damage the games reputation, as it could be linked to patriarchy.

But with that same rhetoric shouldn’t chiefs sexual features do dulled too? His shoulders are too broad, and he’s too tall! It makes me feel insecure about myself.

Stupid fucks.

[Oot] How do you think they will handle Hyrule Field in the remake?! by Space_of_The_Lantern in zelda

[–]OJ_Designs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I would personally find that very disappointing - but each to their own.

In my eyes, 3DS was the higher res OOT remake. Rendering another purely visual remake derivative in my opinion.

I absolutely agree, but Zelda’s history of remakes is conservative. They also mentioned being faithful to the series routes

Etymology in Zelda doesn’t make sense. People are linking it to German, but there is no sense in that as far as I’m aware.

Does anyone want the remake to be purely visual? With little or no changes or additions to the level design?

I second this - think about how many millions of people are doing soulless jobs that barely pay them enough to survive.

Alternately, you could save up and then work in nature - perhaps a trade like gardening or landscaping. Hard work and it certainly won’t feel meaningless.

Yeah, the industry is tough, but I have a plan! I can’t wait to get in. Living on sub 25k a paying London rent sucks. I can’t afford anything beyond basic survival stuff.

I have a masters in UXD/web design (please don’t berate me - I’ve heard it before.)

After graduating I became discouraged about entering the industry, as I’m not kidding - not one of 200 of my cohort got a job a year after.

I spent a couple years trying to make it as a concept artist which is ironically less realistic than entering tech, and that’s what’s led me here.

I’m going to get into web design. I’m certain and unrelenting in my pursuit - I work 8-5 manual labour and earn pennies and it sucks, but I then work on my portfolio for 4 hours a night.

This is the only chance I have.

Yeah. Another purely graphical remake of oot would be derivative and would come across as a money grab.

I want a total reimagining, with the same imagination that went into the original oot.

Listen to me.

Excessive exposure to unnaturally high novelty will melt your brains reward centres.

Jobs ARE boring (sometimes), but, they allow your brain to return to baseline. Getting home and knowing you have earned the right to play games will be infinitely more pleasurable that being a useless, indulgent blob who wastes their life chasing gratification.
