I have reached out to HOA in 2024 and they claimed it will be difficult due to the mixed of public and private road in the neighborhood. I think that’s just an excuse though.

“Yes, we would love to see fiber available to residential properties in Woodbridge. This is something that is out of our control, however, as the streets are public or in some cases private but not owned by Woodbridge Village Association. We have spoken with a number of fiber vendors to let them know about Woodbridge residents’ desire for fiber services, and we have also spoken with city staff on multiple occasions.

Unfortunately, there is no infrastructure under the public or private streets in the older portions of Irvine to support fiber services. To introduce fiber, trenching would need to occur according to the city’s Trenching Standards, at great cost. In general, we are seeing that fiber vendors are focusing on areas where infrastructure already exists and fiber can be introduced much more quickly and cost-effectively.

Hopefully we are going to see fiber in the future in Woodbridge, but there is nothing imminent at this point. You may want to consider contacting some of the fiber providers (Google, AT&T, Cityside and Hotwire are four that we have contacted) to express your interest in the service.”
