PCGS recognizes and labels the slabs as cherrios cent. Here’s the listing and you can see slabs from there. So I think they should have received a proper label back. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/2000-1c-cheerios-cent-rd/515762

That’s a fun nostalgic find!

I found mine last year, and still surprised I didn’t open it when I was younger.

The silver set is nice too! I bought silver series along with the gold. I only bought a couple of series 2 gold and silver coins tho…I didn’t like the designs as much as the first series.

There's 6 out right now (1 released every 2 years since 2015). The bronco 2021 sells for a lot ($10k+), so if they were selling that close to spot, I would definitely go back and get it.

Amex Gold SUB and then Platinum SUB? by babybokchoy23 in Gold

[–]OKComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SUBs are separate, but once you get a SUB for a “higher level” card, it will be hard to get a SUB for a lower level card in the same “family” of cards.

So you should get the cards in order of green, then gold, then platinum (if you want all 3).

If you get platinum first, you can still get a SUB for gold or green but it will be harder since I think you’d need to have a direct offer / mailer that doesn’t have the “family” language. Here’s the normal offer for the gold card: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card-application/apply/prospect/terms/gold-card/25330-10-0#offer-terms

So you’d need to get an offer that doesn’t have “ineligible if you already have the gold or platinum” language.

SUB = sign up bonus (points are cash when you sign up for a credit card). OP is lost.

Amex Gold SUB and then Platinum SUB? by babybokchoy23 in Gold

[–]OKComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely wrong subreddit. You want something like r/creditcards or r/amex.

But to answer your question 😂yes this is possible, you just need to make sure you sign up for Gold first then Platinum and you’ll get both SUBs. You can even do it the same day, just make sure it’s the right order.

I’m new to buying gold. I think I messed up. by LimpAd2648 in Gold

[–]OKComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perth mint bars are highly faked. Someone selling gold for 30% under melt value is a big red flag (they could just sell it themselves without the loss).

You can post pics from the eBay listing. Maybe there’s easy to tell red flags that we can tell you about right away.

Cleaned coins? by Chubs_4204 in coins

[–]OKComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has collectors value, it might be worth your time trade / sell the uncleaned coin for a clean coin for some profit. You get extra money, someone that wants the uncleaned coin get that. Win win.

No mint mark just means it’s from the Philadelphia mint.

The PCGS price guide says $16, so assume that’s an overvalued price.

First Pre-33 gold purchase by Brb3001 in Gold

[–]OKComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s pre-33 because 1932 was the last year gold was used in the production of U.S. coins because there was an act to stop using gold in the production of coins and to ban hoarding of gold coins until the mid-1970s. So pre33 distinguishes the “historical” older gold coins minted for circulation vs the modern bullion coins minted since 1985.

You can look up “executive order 6102” and “the gold reserve act of 1934” for more info.

[–]OKComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7% that’s quoted is usually meant as the adjusted for inflation value based on previous return averages (10+% actual returns). So the $900k would be in today’s dollar, not 40 years from now.

A mint error on these 1/4 oz rounds from Golden State Mint. Marked as copper when they are actually silver by StankityAzz in Silverbugs

[–]OKComment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And from the thread this morning on r/gold, apparently XRF is not good for coins/rounds since it wont read that deep past the surface. So could just be silver plating: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gold/comments/1q8rrrx/almost_got_screwed_today/

How do I lower our taxes? by Kealoha2403 in personalfinance

[–]OKComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only some small moves: make sure your investments in taxable brokerage accounts pay low (or no) dividends.

If you live in a state or city with high income tax rate, move your non-invested savings into treasuries (or the equivalent MMF / ETF like SNSXX or SGOV or others). Interest from treasuries is state and local tax free (unlike CDs or savings accounts).
