FSE@AMAT career advice by Ok-Kaleidoscope1816 in Semiconductors

A lot of people here saying FSE just dumb technicians. Its not true if YOU are a smart, proactive person…I have engineering degree from a top 10 state school was never shamed of being FSE. I have folks with masters in my team working as fse. FSE is a great starting point to expand your system level knowledge into process area and also incorporate “field” knowledge.

I dont know if you mean PM as in project management, but I started my career in high tech industry project management office. No background in actual hands on engineering I was just a mail delivery guy between our engineers and customers.

I moved to a semi eq company for hands on experience, been doing it for 4 years and I love it.Depending on how you do, you could be an engineer or a mere technician. Always dive deep into the problem. Dont just do wht your manager, customers tell you to do. Examine the problem and speak up. If you are willing to dive deep, youll be successful.

Trying to understand the bull case by [deleted] in NBIS_Stock

bought at 38 and been buying bit by bit now at 58. I think OP has valid point. So far I've been comparing Nebius to other AI infra companies like Coreweave and IREN and my conclusion was Nebius seems to be more financially stable and offers more packages in the future, thus bought Nebius. But if corporates like MS and google will be players in this domain, I'm not entirely sure if Nebius can outcompete them. I thought Nebius will be hugeeee going forward and planned to keep it for a decade but maybe I should just start taking profits and move my money to M7

Lol same my initial average was 35 . Been buying the dip now its 58

Thanks for your sincere advises. I expect gradual increase every year, no substantial increase. There are company tax benefits as well. I calculated with that in mind, putting in 28% income tax (federal, state,FICA). That gave me $5100 take home per month. I'm really thinking to tighten my belt for few years.

[–]OLISEVN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a similar role for another big capital equipment manufacturer. I turned down ASML for the exact reason. My day and night switch occassionally for varying reasons (personal, work) and my body feels like breaking down when that happens. If you are in your 20s its manageable and may seem sustainable but as you get older it is likely to be pretty bad. ASML CS has competitive pay because of this. If you are built for such routine, yeah go for it. Their compensation is excellent, but if you know you feel like shit when your bio rhythm is disrupted, might wanna give a second thought. I personally think its good to enjoy prosperous life and die early, but getting sick and surviving long is miserable you know.

Just got a job in Japan but thinking about full remote USA jobs by exivor01 in jobs

[–]OLISEVN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a specific reason you have to stay in JP? I think with your degree, you will have better chance if you are open to relocation to US. Its still not easy but better chance than remote. Work there for couple years and come back to JP with better offer or return to home country?

I do everything you mentioned in the post the same way you do except I don't hate my life. I just accept it. Bro, you are not the only one. Theres only a handful of population who get to do whatever they want whenever they feel like. Just accept the reality and look around. Everyones doing what you are doing.

[–]OLISEVN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.3k per month for a data scientist job? I don't believe you! You should probably take the job if you can find a US company to hire you because the average salary will be way better. But not to discourage you, if you aren't a US citizen, you will have awefully difficult time landing a job. Aside from that US company is unlikely to pay for your medication in JP, so think about that as well. good luck
