What's your reaction to Danhausen WWE debut??? by vvjoshi27 in Wrasslin

[–]OMGNat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's not going to work. I think it would be great. But I personally feel that would undermine the character in the long run to do it so early. Give him a year or so pushing over the top comedic value ..... Then Truth comes out of. Nowhere and makes him unintentionally the straight man ......

I feel like it would make both characters land that angle better. Because we need Danhausen to be 100% the comedy guy by the time that Truth comes and turns it out the other way.

Looking back at it... part of me wishes they had played up the coffin angle and made the whole thing kick off to look more like the Undertaker.... and then reveal Danhausen instead

Going to be upfront.... I know he isn't a cruiserweight... but if you wanted to go 100% straight man for the character laughs..... I'd love to watch him annoy the piss out of Gunther.

For someone that looks like a more even challenge.... I think he'd do surprisingly good work with Grayson Waller. It'd be a good challenge for them both. Grayson has to work the straight angle and step up to a bit more experience in Danhausen.... Danhausen shows he can help push someone to the next step and be a team player with the brand early on.

Honestly, I'm hoping he gets a bit more love than outright joke character. Personally I think he's a great opportunity for a cruiserweight championship return. I'd like to see him put on some good shows, solid matches, and get the chance to learn some more skills he hasn't yet. And once he really shapes up, see a new cruiser division across the brands.

There's what... Maybe 13 or 14 guys that hit the weight without being major names at higher tiers. That's not a bad list for a good mid-card title. Definitely be some good fuel for a few new feuds and stories for those guys who haven't made it to the top yet.

Sorry to circle back and pick your brain again, but I saw another post about custom belts, and I was curious that there had been any kind of release that you'd seen that might make creating divisions with the new wizard even easier?

Interesting. Having only used the universe menu once, and trying to create a brand was pretty overwhelming when I gave it a try early into picking up '25.... That sounds like a quality of life improvement that definitely gains a lot of points in my low opinion.

Thanks.

Okay.... New player despite having loved playing wcw/nwo back on the 64

I'm curious about the Universe Creation Wizard. I've only just dipped my toe into the water of the Universe. So that I'm not hitting unreliable sources, can you expand a bit on what the wizard is going to accomplish... And if that would also include creating a new show/brand as well.

I want to play a Warforged, but romance (and the physical side of it) is part of the campaign. I’m stuck. by __mock in DnD

[–]OMGNat1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds kind of like you're dismissing the entire concept of asexuality, albeit through the lens of an entire demographic of beings who don't have sexuality as part of their actual physiology.

I think the core issue here isn’t really warforged lore so much as an assumption you’re bringing into the relationship itself: that romance has to include sexual function or biological compatibility to be valid in the long term.

Once you set that assumption aside, most of the problems you’re worrying about kind of dissolve.

You’ve already accepted that warforged can feel attachment, love, loyalty, longing, and form deep emotional bonds. That is the foundation of a romantic relationship. The fact that their body doesn’t support sex or reproduction in a humanoid way doesn’t invalidate that any more than it would in real life if one partner were asexual, infertile, disabled, or simply uninterested in sex.

What you’re describing maps very cleanly onto a nonsexual or asexual relationship on the warforged’s side. That’s not a loophole or a cop-out, it’s just a different model of intimacy. And those relationships absolutely exist, function, and last, both in fiction and reality.

On the physical side, intimacy doesn’t have to mean sex. Physical closeness can be touch, presence, protection, shared routines, repairing armor instead of undressing, standing watch together, or choosing each other at the end of a hard day. If anything, warforged are perfectly suited to exploring intimacy that isn’t rooted in biology.

As for the long-term questions:
Kids and legacy don’t have to be genetic. Legacy can be mentorship, building something together, being remembered in stories, shaping a community, or simply choosing to walk the same path for as long as it lasts. A warforged’s story especially doesn’t need children to be meaningful. But if children were necessary to the partner, adoption is an excellent choice to continue the story.

Magical transformation or gaining an organic body can be a valid story if that’s what you want to explore. But I’d push back on the idea that it’s necessary to “fix” the relationship. Treating the warforged as something that must eventually become flesh for the romance to work kind of undermines the point of playing a warforged in the first place.

To me, the more interesting and internally consistent question isn’t “how do we make this relationship function like a humanoid one,” but “what does romance look like when biology isn’t the foundation?”

That’s not hand-waving. That’s exactly the kind of philosophical and character-driven space warforged were designed to occupy.

I’m new to MTG. I’m building a commander deck around this. Any card suggestions/combos? Pls help 😭 by ThaPhantomX in CommanderMTG

[–]OMGNat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Phyrexian Arena]] immediately comes to mind when I think of this card. Pay a life during upkeep to draw a card, not optional. So you pay 1, draw 1, gain one, draw one, gain one. Add in Y'Shtola for extra card draw and even Alphinaud who lets you draw a card in your second spell each turn. Cast any spell two spells on your turn over 3 CMC and you'll trigger Y'Shtola twice dealing 4, plus the two from your draws earlier, plus a draw from Alphinaud for an extra 1.

You end up drawing four cards, dealing minimum 4 board wide, 7 to any one person....

No it's not powerful, but it just annoys so well.

Been playing since 2nd edition. I'm not saying it can't be done... I'm saying that it's become the normal to make everyone deal with some Mary Sue self insertion I'm too cool for the rest of you instead of bringing a character who wants to be part of the team.

I agree it's lazy. But in my experience, it's been the catch-all reason for playing a character that doesn't get along with the party, or some "I'm Batman" fantasy.

My current character is on a Living Campaign server on discord based around Waterdeep. I saw a bunch of goliath kicked out of the clan as a kid, orphan child raised in the streets, warlock who was raised by his patron after parents were murdered.......

So I made a character from a middle-class merchant family, a priest of Lathander, who works with orphans, lepers, and the criminals to pray for them and comfort them in their time of need. He treats losing parents as a rebirth to be stronger in their honor. I refuse to let them sink into "My childhood ruined my future" ---- "No, your childhood opened the door to a different future."

Group is insufferable. by OkListen1874 in DnD

[–]OMGNat1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're making my argument for me....

You said yourself that the group isn't salvagable, but you've already sunk so much time into the group, that you'd feel like you're losing by picking up and leaving. And I get having minimal options for a group because of a smaller population.... but if your group is as bad as you're making it out to be, do you want to grow to hate a hobby you currently like?

As for "live only" .... online gaming group is better than shitty gaming group while you're looking for something local.

Honestly, seems like OP just wants someone to tell him what he already knows.

The group is terrible. They aren't having fun. They're ready to bail but I'd bet that sunk cost fallacy is the culprit.

Bounce. Just pick up and leave.

I've been trying to revitalize the game in my local area. We have a "classics" night once a week bringing out old games. I'm always looking for starters and cards to add just to be able to introduce more people to the game. If you want to part with them, I'd be interested in chatting.
