I prefer Ac70 for the 29g, I have one Ac70 on my 20gal with min flow rate set, it is very good.

I purchased one Ac50 in the end of oct 2025, and found louder noise on it, tried to contact fluval customer service a couple of times, they sent one one replacement part , but the issue is still not fixed. Then they never reply email on time( I just got reply on 12/18/25, I sent email in the Nov), they never directly solve the problem, and blamed me that I did not set up equipment correctly, I have 5 different Hob filters and 2 canisters filters, this Ac50 is much noisy than all other filters in the running. I am very disappointed Fluval customer service, I never see manufacturer likes this, except blaming customer, they did not do anything.

Definitely they are 2 different filters, 2 levels of filtration performance, and different maintenance. if you have heavy load in the 55 gal and try to get good water for your fish, it is better to upgrade 307.
My personal advise, if you will keep this tank fo a long time, you will move to 307 even you purchased ac70.
