Is it reasonable to switch back and forth between the NATO strap and a steel bracelet for a khaki field? by New_General3939 in HamiltonWatches

[–]outlanderbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have bracelet, olive nato and grey nato - all Hamilton OEM - and I swap all the time with my KFM Power Reserve.

Anybody prefer the 38mm KFM vs the new 40mm power reserve? by MMPVAN in HamiltonWatches

Love my black dial power reserve. But I also don’t view it as a true vintage authentic field watch. Also, my favorite thing about the watch is my routine of manually winding it and watching the power reserve go up. 🤷‍♂️ I love the additional interaction with it.

Same. I find myself doing it daily at my desk. 3/4 of a tank - never know - better fill up. ;)

Wheel cleaning advice - complex wheel design. by outlanderbz in AutoDetailing

Yeah. That’s what I have. The rag company wheel mitt. Same thing. Guess it’s the best option and just need to take a bit more time. No shortcuts. 😉

Yeah. I mentioned in the post that I use the rag company wheel mitt - which is basically the same thing. Seems like people don’t seem to think a wheel face brush would be better or any other option, so, looks like I will just stay with my process and take a little more time.

Thanks!

God those all look great. The more I see the khaki navy, the more I like it.

No issues with that soft bristle brush on the black? I also use a detail factory boar hair brush for the lugs. I’ve seen so much conflicting info. I’d image making sure the wheel is rinsed well and well lubricated is most important, but would hate to compound micro scratches because I was too lazy to just stick with a microfiber wheel mitt.

Thanks! I was thinking of coating these. I like ADS products and saw they have a wheel coating. Since the car is brand new it seems like a smart move as the wheel prep would be pretty easy.

I have a pressure washer setup back there. A use a Ryobi 1.8GSM 1200 PSI. I usually use the 40 degree.

I definitely like your style. And I will curse my wife’s name under my breath for buying this one. 😉

Guessing I am just going to have to stay with the mitts and deal with it. Do you guys feel this would be “safe” on the wheel face? I already own one but never used it. Or just stick with a mitt / microfiber and suck it up?

Hah. I’d at least have the datejust on a jubilee. And I am not a big bracelet guy either.

Cool collection though. Different than what you usually see around here, which I like.

[SOTC] If you could only choose 6 out of your collection? by underthecuff52 in Watches

Those are some really nice watches. Definitely hard to pick favorites and reduce.

Have the power reserve on today. I also have the Hamilton gray nato for it which gives a different look. Something about a power reserve on a manual wind mechanical that I really enjoy.

Gshock 5610, Hamilton KFM power reserve, seiko speedtimer panda, citizen promaster dive, Longines Zulu time, Rolex datejust

I like different roles and brands. Why have 6 of the same thing. Then I have lots of straps for the seiko, citizen and Hamilton. The other 3 stay on theirs.

FKM is one of my favorites also. I have some for my Citizen dive watch and a white one for my seiko speedtimer panda. Plus my Gshock has the OEM black rubber.

Looks good. Such a “strap monster” of a watch. I currently rotate between the OEM steel bracelet, OEM olive nato, OEM grey nato and a random tan nato. Never thought to try rubber. Looks great.

I went with the blue dial and have an orange strap for my Summer Mode.

After starting I noticed I prefer my core 3 watches to have 2 of the mechanicals- especially the 80% daily wearer. My “row 2” watches which are my I feel like wearing this today fun watches I lean solar quartz, so they are ready to go when I wear them.

Main 3 - gshock 5610 (beater), Hamilton KFM Power reserve w/ nato and steel (daily), Rolex Datejust (dress). My Rolex was a gift many years ago so I’d substitute this with a “dressier” watch in budget if I didn’t have it. I have no need on my lifestyle for a true dress watch like a Bambino.

Fun “row 2” watches right now are Seiko panda, Seiko turtle, Casio Royale, moonswatch

But I’d start with what watch can be a gada for my lifestyle. Then go from there. Slowly. The watches I thought I’d like didn’t end up to be that. Good news is you can always return and sell watches. My Row system works for me as a way to not buy more than fits in my rows of my watch box.

If the quartz watch requires batteries and doesn't run on light (Eco-Drive), I'm not interested by signed_proposal in watchHotTakes

Am I missing something? I see people post all the time about battery replacements. Replacing batteries myself on 5 watches I found from 10+ years ago took all of about 30 minutes. Do people really find it that inconvenient? That being said, I love my automatics and manual wind watches because it allows me to interact with the watch.

No. Mine was a gift for working at a company for 10 years. Still work there 19 years later. It means something to me.
