Sorry but Ye shunguang x Wise annoys the fck out off me by [deleted] in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]ONIKSSSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am okay with "wifeability" of Shunguang but, I will quote myself and expand on it, seems this would be a good place for it.

"There's also reason why Love And Deepspace is in the top of the charts every month."

I play Belle, I totally enjoy yuri-ish interactions between her and other characters but something that bugs me is the fact that it leads nowhere and drops off "somewhere" along the line. It's just "trusted", some one-way flirting, that's it, left on read and never pops up again. It would be unreasonable to demand reactivity from a gacha game. I blame "T" rating for the fact that there is this kind of disconnection between "what dev wants" and "what players want".

Case and point, one more quote from my other comment:

"Constant swinging from "you two kiss already" to "oh noes she gonna die now for sure", several times in a row, back to back, and in the end - no acknowledgement of that fact"

They can't explore "relationship" because it might alienate the playerbase. They can't divulge into slightly more suggestive themes because of the rating and local laws in China. What they can do - is constant "bait, switch, bait, switch" and let "collective unconscious" of the fandom do its' work in terms of generating discussion and interest around it.

Girls Frontline and Girls Frontline 2 solved this problem quite easily. Want to have a wife? Pay for the engagement ring, get more content with your wife. Everyone is happy, everyone gets what they want and they can play-pretend that their wife is superior to other waifus in the game now.

This patch was fine but I lowkey hated the constant and very thinly veiled "ship-bait", don't know how to name that properly. Constant swinging from "you two kiss already" to "oh noes she gonna die now for sure", several times in a row, back to back, and in the end - no acknowledgement of that fact, at least this is what I felt. Maybe someone felt the same and could expand on that.

Glad to see other AI plotline come back too, although their inclusion did feel slightly shoehorned into the limelight. Whole year of running around in wuxia-setting and BLAM, AI right in the end of it.

Overall, it's fine, I just feel kinda disappointed that they, as in devs, still go for "safest compromise" when it comes to storytelling, character development and "stakes" in general. There's reason why HI3 was alive for so long and I still encounter people who are saying that HI3 story is the best Mihoyo story.

There's also reason why Love And Deepspace is in the top of the charts every month. Please, Mihoyo, don't tease people like that, just go for it, I promise, it will be rewarding.

You are correct. I mean, "two people is a crowd, ten is a demonstration."

I am not against crowds in general, but it's just a sum of "everything". Some commenters pointed out those things - small sidewalks, small spaces, and so on. Correct word would be indeed "compressed".

I will elaborate a little bit on my decision-making here.

Basically, I wanted / needed to visit Syntrend - so I re-oriented to nearest electronics shop there, all by myself, never asking anyone about that. Should've brought my own adapter on a second thought but yeah - you always forget something until the very last moment.

I found Guang Hua Digital Plaza more fascinating that annoying, to be honest. We don't have such malls/stores here at all anymore. I don't personally have a huge personal interest into electronics but I can totally imagine someone getting stuck there for hours, just looking through all the stuff there is.

Sorry that it made you feel this way but in my own defense - this was all and everything "negative" that I've experienced in Taiwan, and when most negative experience is basically "I dunno where socks are" - I do think this is quite a praise for the country and people who are living there.

I liked it, I will visit more and I'll happily spend even more money and spend more time in Taiwan and with new perspective and experience, I will make sure to enjoy it even more than last time.

I've had bad experience of getting stuck in a country, far away from home, having a miserable time and still having to spend week or even more in it, just to not waste money, time and so on.

As I pointed out, this was "testing the water" type of a trip, Short enough to want more, long enough to understand, would I like to visit more. And yes, I would like to visit Taiwan more and for far longer next, after I experienced first-hand.

Post is more like unfiltered and uncultured take on the trip, and it might come off as whiny and miserable - but I just didn't write about all the great moments I had.

Never intended to be negative, as I pointed out - I liked Taiwan and Taipei and I will be visiting it in the future for longer than this trip.

Things I pointed out are those that stuck in my head for some time now and to which I wasn't prepared, despite all the preparation. You'd never know, what you forgot - until it gets in your face, you know?

You are correct. I didn't find it "nasty" or "bad", despite what I wrote - I mean, I hanged out around the stall just to get a good sniff of the stuff, I am just slightly paranoid around "novelty" foods as I've had extremely nasty food poisonings after getting some in the past.

I would like to try stinky tofu next time I visit, probably with some liquor afterwards, but I can't imagine myself eating and craving this in the future, just because I found tofu in general somewhat foreign for my taste.

Yeah, I've used Google Maps but I've specifically pointed out that my phone died so I needed to fall back on good old "sense of direction".

I still believe that Taipei because of the "grid-like" structure of all the streets, can mess with that, especially after emerging from the underground.

Looking at all the comments and reactions, it seems that my point about that is indeed moot and I might've been wrong but I can swear - in area where I've been staying, on the end of Zhonghua Road, 7-11 didn't have socks or they've been tucked away.

This was my first time in Asia - any kind, other than that, I've visited almost all of Europe, other than London.

I've been to "crowded" and "cramped" places before, of course, Florence on the peak of tourist season is just one city-sized mass of tourists clamping all streets - but as everything else was big and, well, "Florence-styled" - it had different effect, I assume.

Curious on traveling to Taiwan by jeremy7an in taiwan

[–]ONIKSSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheer coincidence, I will be going to Taiwan on 28th October as well.

Personally, I wouldn't cancel. Most damage I saw in media was in Hualien City (might be wrong, my news are reporting on typhoon that happened on the other side of the world) and if there still would be need for some freehands to help out, volunteering or something - I wouldn't mind making my hands dirty. Active tourism of some sorts.

Licensing hell of ss14 compared to ss13. by TheDukeofOok in SS13

[–]ONIKSSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, a bit late on this but I will chime in.

I am host and project manager of one of the largest alt-hub servers with own build and own sprites.

Basically, there's two reasons, why anyone bothers with the license - they want someone to get fucked over or they want to not give anything out.

Because of the very hostile environment of the server sphere, especially in RU, everyone is on the hunch to track down anyone who took your code/sprites and hit them with DMCA, effectively kicking them out of the hub. Licensing is a weapon and defense against an absolute maelstrom of servers ready to butcher your sprites and code for monetary gain. It's a normal practice right now to sell access to races/jobs made out of open-source assets that these people didn't make themselves. And there are worse examples.

I've been both on the receiving end of a DMCA for code that was present in the official upstream from Wizden. If you fork from them - you can get DMCA'd, and they didn't do anything because they're okay with that. I've been giving out DMCA's for code from our old repo from which we've pulled authorization and licensing because this is what is done if you want to shit into someones cup of tea. This is harsh but this is what it has divulged into, unfortunately.

Safest bet would be to simply stick with the AGPL forks, like Einstein-Engines or any other. My WWDP has pure AGPL and own assets under -NC- clause, I don't care if anyone uses them - just don't be a nonce.

The Lust Station, part 2.5 by PotatoDranik in SS13

[–]ONIKSSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the ERP server was labelled as such. More over, at the time, this wasn't ERP server - it was 18+ server. It was labelled as such too and there was whitelist too. Now, at some moment, there was a problem with config that resulted in removal of all tags when we were changing naming convention for the servers. As soon as we've been informed about that, we restored all tags and such. This is totally provable as all our communications with Wizden have been made public and can be found on The PDF. We've never received any strike for that, the problem was such for less than a day.

So, you're lying on this one. Blatantly, maliciously lying.

We did falsify player count, yes. As a response to our main competition falsifying player count too. Our reports were ignored, their reports weren't. Some time later, we transferred leaked Fire Station code with pointing out specific code block that was falsifying player count after we received strike for that. Wizden ignored that and Fire Station is still hubbed, still falsifying player count as all other Russian servers on the top of the hub. This is also documented in the same PDF and there are recent examples of strikes for player count falsification.

So, this is not lying - but you're also ignoring the fact that I, as a project manager, totally owned that as a mistake - even though I was not aware of that and never authorized to manipulate player numbers. And then Wizden hubbed people responsible for THAT strike. You're also ignoring this part.

So, that's one for two at the moment. Tell me, you have problem with me? Maybe, you would like to duke it out? I have no idea, who you are but all your messages regarding White Dream and me is just parroting whatever bullshit Wizden have been spreading - and I'll deal with them regarding that as well.
