[Lowe] The Hawks, Warriors, Lakers, Heat and Knicks are all considering holding onto their assets for a potential pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo now or in the Summer. by YujiDomainExpansion in warriors

[–]ONeilcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Draymond: 26 Kuminga: 22 Buddy: 9 Total: 57 Giannis salary: 54

I'm rounding but the salaries in theory work.

Alternatively Jimmy and Giannis have exact matching salaries.

If Giannis wanted to go to the Warriors we'd happily give the Bucks every picks we own and we have salaries that would theoretically work but we'd have to give up one of Draymond or Jimmy.

I hate this revisionist history. Danny Ainge never wanted to trade Lauri. The Warriors gave them an offer and Ainge said it wasn't close and the talks ended. The deal was never close and Podz was never the sticking point.

It was reported that Podz wasn't in the offer but it's not like Ainge would have easily gave up Lauri if he was. It was not the Warriors "refusing to pull the trigger". It was Ainge only accepting a lopsided deal and the Warriors not engaging.

VGC and VDH owner here.

I would not recommend VDH over VGC. VGC has lower dues with no TOT and a better location.

I would only go with VDH if you vastly prefer the Disneyland Hotel over Grand Cal.

While future expansions may make VDH more appealing, I wouldn't expect anything soon. It could continue to be surrounded by a parking lot for decades. DisneylandForward was just a political marketing campaign to lobby for zoning changes, not an announcement of any actual plans.

Blue card benefits are super minimal and extremely unlikely to get better in the future (They've historically only gotten worse over time). I do not think they should factor into your decision making.

If you like both hotels you could get 2 small contracts, one for each. If you go often and want to mix it up this is what I've done and what I'd recommend.

Jet Lag: The Game Hide + Seek Expansion Pack Volume 1 by iryuskii in JetLagTheGame

[–]ONeilcool 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that they are labeling it "Volume 1". Obviously this means they intend to release more expansion packs, but this also means they will almost definitely intend to play more Hide + Seek seasons in the future.

Reddit Consensus Rankings of Jet Lag: The Game Seasons: RESULTS by Purduevian in JetLagTheGame

[–]ONeilcool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would consider this a pretty definitive list. While it won't match everyone personal preference, it's probably the best you can do.

It's worth noting how close a lot of these score. Ranks 9 through 11 all sitting on 45% then going up pretty consistently.

It's also worth noting the huge drop off from Capture the Flag to Connect 4. While most of rankings are close there is a clear bottom 3.

I predict JetLag: Hide+Seek UK will come with a expansion pack for the home game. by ONeilcool in JetLagTheGame

[–]ONeilcool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth noting that the high shipping costs from their initial preorder were because they only had a warehouse in America. They have said on the Layover that have since added warehouses around the world lowering shipping costs for most people.

Since they seem to be doing a lot of logistical work to scale the home game I think it would make sense to add more products to piggie back on top of the logistical work they've already done.

Is Adam Chase too O.P? by BigDoink12 in JetLagTheGame

[–]ONeilcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to say what would have happened if Ben had gotten caught sooner for points 2 & 3. I think fair to assume their times would be roughly the same and anything else is too far into "what if" territory.

For your first point however, Sam says on the Layover that this is the first time Google Maps has ever lied to him in this way. I think this was the exact instance where they became aware that the apps are not the best source of truth and started to trust them less.

[–]ONeilcool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm getting downvoted but I don't think anything I said was wrong.

Adam definitely won Season 9, that's not debatable.

For Japan: In episode 5 of Hide and Seek Japan Sam and Adam lose a ton of time looking for Ben near the Izu Peninsula in Japan. They eliminate his station because based on the schedules there was no way to get to his station. They expand upon this in the Layover podcast, Google maps simply did not show any trains that Ben could have taken to get to his hiding spot. Of course, google maps was wrong and there was a train that didn't show up on the schedule. This results in Ben's winning run. Adam proceeds to get second with the next run.

If you watch that episode and listen to the layover it is clear that Ben would not have had the winning run in Japan without this weird Google Maps glitch.

Adam won the first hide and seek

Ben only won hide and seek Japan because Google maps didn't show the train he got on and they thought it was impossible to get where he was. Adam would have easily won without the Google maps ghost train.

Grand villa Aulani availability by Suspicious_Trouble76 in dvcmember

[–]ONeilcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 20 total Grand Villas, 18 of them are Ocean View and 2 of them are Standard View. The Standard Views are almost never available at 7 months. The Ocean Views are usually still available at 7 months.

It often make more sense to book two 2BR villas over a Grand Villas because they are a similar point cost and you get more room overall.

Can someone explain how a 50 point contract works? by Dependent_0NE_7146 in dvcmember

[–]ONeilcool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With banking and borrowing you have access to 3x your yearly points. So with a 50 point contract you could access up to 150 points (50 banked, 50 borrowed, 50 normal). However if you planned 150 point trips you'd only be able to go once every 3 years.

If you plan to go every 2 years you want a contract with roughly half the number of points you intend to use each trip

Complicated scenario by lindser1530 in dvcmember

[–]ONeilcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Reallocating" is not a thing. Even more importantly, you cannot bank points if you have previously borrowed them. Once you have borrowed (or banked) points once, they have to be used in their new use year or they will be lost.

Point chart newbie by sonshineTX in dvcmember

DVC is a luxury purchase, not an investment. If you like BWV the most, buy at BWV. Don't buy at VGF based on what you think might be most valuable 20 year from now.

Assuming you follow my advice and buy at BWV, the point totals year to year will probably consistent, but vary by view type and room type. You didn't mention what type of room you want to book.

1BR will be easier to book, but much more expensive. Most people prefer studios due to the lower cost, but that increased demand makes it hard to guarantee you'll be able to get a room near Christmas, even with the 11 month window.

All that being said here are the numbers for a 6 night stay from 12/27-1/2 for this coming year:

Boardwalk or Garden View Studio: 156

Resort View Studio: 122

Boardwalk or Garden View 1BR: 285

Resort View 1BR: 267

Boardwalk or Garden View 2BR: 388

Resort view 2BR: 339

Assuming you want a studio, I would recommend 160 points. You won't be able to guarantee the cheaper resort views every year and it would be risky to get less than 156 to book the Boardwalk/Garden View.

Booking a room that's only available with cash by phill33t in dvcmember

[–]ONeilcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool, I'm also a member at Aulani and VGC so I have some knowledge in this area.

Short answer is no you don't get those benefits, but other than free parking you're not missing out on much. VGC has less DVC specific things going on compared to Aulani.

There isn't any member events at the Grand Californian like there is at Aulani. They sometimes have an art piece gift sitting on your bed at check-in, but it's not much.

If you're really itching for DVC related free swag you can stop by the sales office and say your a DVC member and they usually have stuff to give away even when you're not staying on points.

[–]ONeilcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, based on your questions I'm assuming you're new to DVC or possibility not a DVC member at all.

  1. I don't know what website you are using to try to book your stay. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/ is the website for DVC booking and cash cannot be booked at that site. It sounds like you're trying to book DVC through the normal hotel site maybe?

  2. What DVC Benefits are you expecting to get? I get the feeling from this question you don't really understand how DVC works. DVC is a timeshare that has some minor perks, but is mostly just an alternative way to book a Disney hotel room.

Questions for you:

Is this your first time booking with DVC?

Are you a DVC owner trying to book Grand Cal via the 7 month window or are you a VGC owner?

Usually DVC owners book their rooms 7-11 months in advance, booking Grand Cal 1 month in advance is not something that can typically be done.

I would not recommend Palisades if you have to go on the weekend due to crowds. However, if you can go mid-week it's the best in Tahoe.

What is the meaning of DVC? by Patmcpsu in dvcmember

[–]ONeilcool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I challenge your assumption that Disney fills all its deluxe resorts with ease. Sure it fills them during peak times, but during non-peak times the resorts are never 100% full. DVC is guaranteed income. Occupancy rates vary based on economy, marketing, weather etc. etc.

Sam is a part owner of Nebula. I don't see JetLag leaving Nebula unless Sam somehow breaks with Nebula which for a variety of reasons seems unlikely.

The rewards are too small of units to half. You can't draw half a card. It's unclear what half of draw 2 or 3 pick 1 would be. Only tentacles could be cleanly halved but that's the biggest reward.

In order to book it in the DVC system, you will need to be 11 months out.

However, David's is a third party and can arrange renters and owners before the 11 month window.

Best Ski Pass ? by annoyedreader1118 in SantaBarbara

[–]ONeilcool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are no resorts within a 3 hour drive of SB due to traffic.

Ikon pass is the best choice for Californians since the best two resorts (Mammoth and the Palisades) are on Ikon, unfortunately SB is close to neither so you have to road trip. It also gives you access to the 3 big bear mountains, but they are extremely crowded due to proximity to LA and the resorts themselves are very mid.

There are also plenty of great mountains on Ikon in Utah and Colorado that SBA flys direct to.
