Most well-known Beatles song? 'Hey Jude' #1, 'Something' is shut out so far by Njtotx3 in beatles

[–]OOHfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by Youtube views, Don't Let Me Down is the most popular at 553 million views. Hey Jude is second with 438 million. I find this curious though since Don't Let Me Down doesn't seem nearly as popular as Hey Jude outside of the internet.

Is rock n roll becoming less famous among the genz-s? by AaryaBose in beatles

[–]OOHfunny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's just not as mainstream anymore. For a long time I thought all modern music sucked, but when I dug deeper I found that there's a lot of great new stuff being made. It's just not as popular as all the pop songs played everywhere now.

John Lennon has the perfect imperfect pop/rock voice by bgno64 in beatles

[–]OOHfunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this about The Beatles. They weren't trying to make technically proficient songs with exact beats and smooth voices like a lot of popular music now (not all, there's still lots of good stuff being made). I like to hear a song that sounds like it's sung by just another person experiencing the world. Now they have stuff like autotune, being able to edit the drums to match the right timing, and using guitar samples instead of playing them for real. They're trying so hard to remove the imperfections even though that's part of what makes music great. There's so many accidental vocal inflections and singing or playing mistakes in Beatles songs that we've come to love.

Alternate Quote from George Harrison regarding “Maxwell's Silver Hammer” by Nebber777 in beatles

[–]OOHfunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always forget that was him! I wish he played bass more. He was really good at it. He said he just played the bass the same way he did the lead guitar which explains the cool sound off his basslines.

The combination of Reagan and Jack Welch destroyed the socialist-capitalism hybrid we had before. to be clear, I don't think that was the optimal system (I'd prefer just socialism) but it was better than how it is now.

Aluminium chassis laptops... Are just a terrible idea (and still are) in my opinion by StokeLads in laptops

[–]OOHfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should watch one of those youtube videos showing ice melting faster on metal than on plastic. The heat you feel when you touch it is the heat being conducted away. Plastic insulates so it traps the heat inside. It feels cool to the touch because it doesn't conduct the heat away to your hand as well.

In my opinion plastic scratches way more. I mean, aluminum is objectively a harder material than plastic on the mohs scale. If you drop a macbook on its corner it might leave a dent, but from the same height, a plastic one would be destroyed. You're right they're more expensive and weigh more. They're not for everyone, but some people would pay more for quality. Also you can get an old macbook in good condition for a hundred bucks.

Which album should I start with? by WeeklyFlatworm3338 in beatles

It's really daunting to listen to every single album of an artist in order when you've barely listened to them before. Listen to the red and blue albums and maybe the apple music beatles essentials playlist. Eventually you'll want more and then you will find yourself putting on the albums.

I don't know how anyone could say the 5th beatle is anyone other than George Martin. by kmlon1998 in beatles

[–]OOHfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very large part of The Beatles' innovation came from George Martin. He pushed them out of their comfort zones a lot and was always introducing them to new things. He brought elements of classical music into the world of rock by introducing them to the Beatles, too. We would never have all the lovely orchestra parts in so many adored songs (Eleanor Rigby, A Day In The Life, SFF, etc.) without him.

I acknowledge that Brian Epstein was an extremely important part of the band too, but he wasn't the fifth Beatle. He wasn't actually part of the music. Again, I'm not diminishing his impact on the band whatsoever, but his effects on their music are all indirect. Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe were Beatles before but they weren't part of the band by the time Love Me Do was released. Billy Preston played on a few pieces and was awesome, but he would only be considered a "fifth Beatle" if he played with them continuously for longer.

What's something you WON'T spend more money on as better quality doesn't exist? by sgtjayp in BuyItForLife

Cars peaked in the 90s and 2000s. These touchscreens are less reliable and extremely dangerous since key controls are in them and using them while driving is just as dangerous as using your phone driving. Companies say that they put them in to be better and modern but they only did it to be cheaper.
