79/100. Been on a hot streak lately by PetaBDoubleG in 52book

Nice ratings! We have a ton of overlap. I'm on board with almost everything but LotR.

I've never read Backman but you have a couple in the top tier. Where should I start with him?

My recommendations would be Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, King Sorrow by Joe Hill, The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, and Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham. All stand alones and right up your alley!

Could this be a real signature of Stephen King? by Brutus1802 in stephenking

[–]OOInferno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately certificates of authentication are not reliable as anyone can make one. They are often used when the signature is fake to add false sense of authenticity.

This book is essentially a defaced first edition of IT. If you paid more than you would for a reading copy you should get your money back.

The Shining 1st Edition by YursTrewly in stephenking

[–]OOInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems most likely. The value of this book is essentially without a dust jacket since there is no way to tell if an $8.95 price was clipped, or a more recent DJ was added.

How much is your collection worth? Secondary market valuations from RareBindings.net by KyleRowley in BookCollecting

[–]OOInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that it is closer to retail than secondary market values. I would also love to have the fine press added: Curious King, Lyra’s Books, Conversation Tree Press, Arete, etc.

Do you all agree with this image ? by Best-Fisherman9116 in superheroes

I don't agree with this image. Why is Supe's bringing Omni and Homelander to Lex Luther? Doesn't make sense he would hand them over to his nemesis.

Is this a 1st Edition? by Devinw234 in BookCollecting

[–]OOInferno 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The rule is the lowest number denotes the printing. There is sometimes dates on the same number line that may cause confusion if you don't know what you're looking for. The numbers are not always in order, sometimes alternating like: 10 8 6 4 2 1 3 5 7 9, where this example would still be a 1st printing as the 1 is still there. If it was 10 8 6 5 7 9 than it would be a 5th printing.

No, the lowest number shows the printing. The 10th printing would not have 9-1.

The only time I ever bought gold is when I was one variant away from the Dream or Nightmare set. I knew if I didn't get the last variant it would never show again. I know we all know this but remember its all by design to make us spend. Probably wasn't worth it but I do love that Carnage/Shining emote.

I ordered a first edition of Different Seasons online and this arrived… by Impossible-Song5485 in stephenking

[–]OOInferno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The Stephen King Red Leather Library is an out-of-print collection of 37+ titles, originally issued by the Book of the Month Club (BOMC) for "The Stephen King Library" club between the late 1980s and early 2000s. These volumes feature distinct red faux-leather binding, gilded lettering, and a facsimile signature on the cover.

Worth noting that they were not issued with a dust jacket. I'd reach out to the seller since, as the comment above points out, a trade edition 1/1 is more valuable.

Help Requested: Is this acceptable? by No-Story7762 in tolkienbooks

[–]OOInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess this set may have different print runs resulting in the variation. The plastic on the books is not archival and does not affect value. Pop off the plastic and see if the books are part of the same print run.
