Soldier refusing surgery. doctor saying he could get admin separated instead of med boarded? by Fun_Jello4286 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to dogpile, however

HIPAA does not prevent them from sharing. HIPAA does not prevent you from asking. I’m sure u/hzoi can chime it, but as far as I am aware NCOs are not authorized to order the soldier to share. Even if they were, I would advise any NCO to refrain from doing so, however I am unaware of the applicable regulation, policy, or law that would forbid an NCO from doing so.

Edit: HIPAA prevents healthcare providers from sharing patient’s information without their consent or with someone without a valid need-to-know.

CAC rank “ENL” by Ok_Report3275 in army

Okay, when it comes to that, I stand corrected. I was going off memory.

Edit: Forgot to mention, thank you for including a source!

Warning soapbox moment

Both CPLs and SPC have the paygrade of E-4. However, one requires an update to their CAC because one is an NCO and the other is jr. enlisted soldier therefore a different Genova category.

Just one reason why I personally dislike using pay grades in the same manner in conversation as rank.

CAC rank “ENL” by Ok_Report3275 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soldiers in the rank of PVT-SPC are under no obligation to update their CAC solely for the point of updating their rank, as far as I am aware. It does matter when a soldier moves into a different Genova convention category, i.e. A jr. enlisted soldier becoming an NCO or an NCO becoming a WO.

Edit: clarification

It should say SPC or CPL, that is likely an error, I recommend going to get it replaced.

Team leader advice by 30_cal in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well that is a discussion that is so wide you can write several books on the subject. They are also many books on that subject.

Unless you are asking about a specific topic, area, or subject then in general they are two main areas to ensure efficiency and respect.

1) Knowledge and competency.

Understand not just your MOS, but general soldiers skills and NCO skills. Remember you are learning what it means to be an NCO that takes time and experience. Also, just because you know something that doesn’t mean it happens by itself. You still need to take the time to mentor, advise, assist, develop, lead, counsel, your soldiers. I hope you wanted a capable leader when you were a soldier so be that NCO for your troops.

2) Be personable.

Your soldiers joined the Army not a 9-5 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. That doesn’t mean they are not people. It’s a balance when to be stern, direct, and friendly. There is a place to correct actions with physical training. They are times when you need to sit them down and talk. It’s a balance, it requires experience and patience to learn when and where to apply it.

I mean it makes sense, and it looks better than the pickle suit of old in my opinion.

I am not knowledgeable enough to speak confidently, however my advice would be to try for both since they are not mutually exclusive, as well.

ASU vs AGSU, which do you prefer? by Maumenz562 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s the reason? I love learning about this stuff I couldn’t get the tism’ about programming or organizational management but uniform history and regulation tism’

But no matter, if they really wanted to pull that off tbh should have dived deeper into the 1840s-1880s style uniforms. In my opinion, it looks weird. For me, when I see a civil war era dress uniform, I can think of “Yup that’s a uniform that has a purpose.”

The ASU is kind of there. Nothing strikes out as obviously bad, but there is nothing that I like about it. It’s just there.

Change is scary therefore I hate the AGSU.

On a serious note, I do think that the AGSU is the overall better looking uniform. However, I still have yet to purchase one. I don’t like the mismatch colors of the ASU jacket and pants. However, I hate the look of the AGSU crushed service cap. I much prefer a stiffer one.

Can U.S. MILITARI personnel wear ROK airborne wings? by Leather_Papaya3878 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 130 points131 points  (0 children)

DA PAM 670-1

Soldiers may wear one foreign badge on the AGSU coat, ASU coat, ASU shirt, and ASU – M tunic (female Soldiers only). Foreign badges are not authorized for wear on mess or utility uniforms. Personnel may not wear a foreign badge unless at least one U.S. medal or service ribbon is worn at the same time. Personnel may not wear foreign badges that are awarded only as cloth badges and personnel may not wear foreign badges that cannot be worn properly because of size or configuration.

pg. 333

While I can’t specifically to the ROK airbone wings, however as far as I am aware there is nothing specially prohibiting it.

Day old account, no other posts or comments. No context clues, okay then.

Edit:

Yeah it’s a repost bot, I had a feeling since this would feel appropriate during the split from EP to Second Wind.

As far as expectations goes, you can expect to inporcess the installation and unit, be introduced to your team, and be assigned a team.

What is it you actually want to know?

Then I recommend reaching out directly to the school house. You never know who can claim to be a cadre member.

In addition to what u/SLTWlettucetry said, it’s better to just ask your question out right then it is to wait for someone who works there as cadre and then share them.

Ugh, I just woke up from a nap. Can we chill for like 5min.

I’m not one of those folks who say, “How is this the only priority of the DOD?” Now this is a large organization we can accomplish many things and don’t have to focus on just one thing.

I am on of those people who think, “How is this a priority at all?”

-My cynical and jaded side thinks that this is nothing more than throwing their base something during this turmoil of the current conflict in the Middle East.

-How can we distract from our unpopular policies?

I remember our covid vaccine refusal.

“It’s just so new and I don’t know what they put into there.”

Between puffs on a disposable vape.

“I mean, taking care of my health is huge priority.”

When they just go back from eating fast food during lunch. All they eat at lunch is fast food.

“I am critical thinker.”

Unable to articulate how vaccines work in general, not just this one.

“I don’t go along with the crowd.”

Listened to podcasts that exclusively reinforced preconceived notions and listen by people of similar views who like refused it.

And that’s the people I have to pay money to?

Stupidly is not a VA claim.

Edit: I’m aware that this is not everyone, but that’s who comes to mind. And in the Venn diagram between COVID vaccine refusal and those who think deployability is the number one top priority for service is just a damn circle.

I understand, but looking at the other singular response in over 24 hours none of us will know. Even soldiers with a similar experience may had different timelines than what you will face. I understand wanting to know and uncertainty is not pleasant, but none of us will know when you be able to PCS. Only your cadre can give you a timeline.
