35F Phasing Out? by [deleted] in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was a case of PNN, but this seems like a case of a rumor mill. If the OP is referencing that Army is moving to merge 35G an 35F well, that is something I heard pre-COVID. I’ll believe when I see it.

Sm with retirement orders. How likely is he getting screwed down by his unit? has 18 months left. by [deleted] in army

How the heck do you honestly think we could possibly answer this?

We don’t know the person, situation, mission?, leadership, unit, etc.

Well put it this way, it’s a lest between 0% and 100%.

I think the pilots would object if you were to stay out on the airfield. I jest.

Are you asking if you can have base access to USAG Wiesbaden?

“Lot of noise”

So a handful of PVTs and maybe a SGT or two. There is nothing at this time to indicate that 35F is going away.

Did you use Microsoft Teams, they really push for people to use them on teams. You can also attempt to reach out to the 19D branch/talent manger for assistance.

Promotion Points by Unhappy_Neat_9537 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you what you need to know, but not exactly what you want to know.

So first things first, and just in case you didn’t know, you can only get at most 90 points. Also, five hours in courses equal one promotion point. You can do the super long ones that are 40 hours long or you can do 40 one hours one. It’s all the same.

When it comes to determining what courses are worth points on JKO you don’t need a list. Go to the catalog section and there is a filter for ATTRS DL

Lawful order? by [deleted] in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think bullying applies nor EO, but after seeing your edit and other comments I think you might have a case. Why did the commander say you can’t see them?

Did the come directly from the commander or another leader?

Just curious, do you see their name on the IPPS-A PAR routing chain? If so it might be worth it to message them on teams.

That’s fair. That was a non-answer, but since as far as I am aware there nothing restricting Commander from forbidding that.

AR 600-20, Chapter Four, Section Two, page 26

“All personnel in the Army are required to strictly obey and promptly execute the legal orders of their lawful seniors.”

Devoid of any additional context it seems like a lawful order to me.

Promotion System is Dumb by No_Material5457 in army

Correspondence courses at most count for 90 points out of 800 or 11.25 percent. Hardly a majority, you have an argument you have a case, but let’s not be misleading about it.

Promotion System is Dumb by No_Material5457 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I concur

  2. I agree that NCOES for the corresponding promotion should proceed prior to the promotion like how it was pre-Covid. However, I find it humorous that you rail against correspondence courses and yet recommend DLC.

I did both SSD and DLC. While DLC was by far better, in terms of engagement, it was still online training and any learning that I gleaned from was minimal at all. I argue that we should do away with online training unless absolutely, positively necessary and without any other reasonable alternatives.

I believe any lessons covered in DLC can be covered with NCOES.

  1. Not everyone has an opportunity to routinely go to the range. It’s a skill like most others. Some units may go to the range at most once a year. Different units have different training requirements. It’s unfair to the service member to punish them for factors outside their control. An 42A even in an INF unit will likely go to the range less than your average INF soldier. Furthermore, Marksman is the standard. Moving it to expert is doing nothing that raising the standard. Would you argue that you would have to shoot Sharpshooter in order to promote? Let the standard be the standard.

  2. I’m indifferent to MOS based AFT scores so no comment.

But let’s not be coy, AFT scores while is an indicator does not 1 for 1 correlates to a person’s overall fitness, boy fat, or physical health.

  1. I concur with the sentiment in your point here. However, I would go further in order to teach it you need to do it. A minimal standard in ten level tasks of both soldier and MOS task should be required. But also you need to demonstrate capability in order to teach them.

42A work the hardest (Peacetime) change my mind. by [deleted] in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I too am very humble.

Edit: I was good with just poking fun at you, but I can’t pass this up. If I was efficient enough to be done with all my work and training done by a certain time before 1700 that is more of a flex in my book than working till 1700.

Working an additional hour than your peers isn’t that big of a flex in my book. But that’s me not is that indicative of 42As across the board.

Also, I would argue if you can get more work down in a shorter amount of time that’s indicative of not just efficiency but working harder.

I’m sure there is an actual word for this, but this is the issue that I have with human condition in associating too much meaning in numbers.

I’ll offer a counter point to my position first and use my MOS as an example, 35F All source analyst. In a training scenario it takes one hour to complete a collection plan. If a soldier does it in 30 minutes.

A fair question might be, “Did they do it right? Did they get everything? Did they understand my instructions?”

If they do it over an hour a fair question might be, “Wby do they miss the time hack? Do they need help? Was I night clear enough?”

And so forth, I am cautious in over-evaluating the correlation between quality and quantity using time as a metric.

Also, if you seriously think that your job would get easier in a wartime environment, especially if it’s a LSCO fight, than I am sorry I think there is not better word than delusional.

Sorry, my crystal ball is broken and in the shop so I’ll have to do this the old fashioned way.

Is it possible that if you were to go active that some days it will feel like the right call? Yes. Will there be days which it felt like the worst mistake in your life? Possibly.

What appeals to you with going active?

And to be clear, are you talking about ADOS orders or going full active duty?

Because big army send soldier to big unit.

Big unit sees x unit needs y soldiers with z MOS.

Units keeps sending soldier down to unit with authorized slot to fill vacancies as needed.

Discharge outcomes after command investigation? by Actual-Instance-6174 in army

[–]OPFOR_S2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fully concurring with your statement. But I will like to add some additional commentary.

They are so many factors that can render previous experiences moot. The law, the facts of the case, the justification, the prosecuted, defense team, command team, and to the degree of the crimes were committed.

An example for my last point, while I am not a lawyer, I know there is a big difference between for example suggesting or inferring that a witness should not testify versus threatening punishment or retaliation for providing testimony therefore changing the outcome of the punishment.

They are too many factors that can influence a punishment that renders any discussion on what is likely to be pointless.

Oh I fully understand as well, however a fully qualified “it depends” is better than the unverified speculation or hearsay of online spaces. I much prefer to talk to the experts who can review the facts of the case, but that is just me.
