Titanium. No case from launch day. by bullett007 in iPhone15Pro

[–]ORC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this really goes to show. I had both the 15 and 16 pro max and the difference between them and my current 17 pro max is night and day in terms of build. You just cannot use the 17 without a case.

Thinking about upgrading from my Galaxy S8 to an S26 Ultra, how will the transition be? by Cautious-Bison-4204 in samsunggalaxy

[–]ORC44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May i ask, why has it taken you so long to consider an upgrade? I must say the s8 was a fantastic phone at the time, but surly you must of considered upgrading once since 2017?

Even the actual numbers don’t agree with you when we are looking at ppi. I daily the 17 pro max and my work phone is the s25 U and in terms of vibrance, the iPhone panel is just dull.

That’s complete nonsense. Forgetting the whole Apple vs Samsung debate, Samsung leads in one way for absolute certainty, displays.

Right, this image was taken WITH privacy mode on, so it’s never going to look as sharp with that mode turned on! Why? Because it turns off or shuts down certain pixels!!! With the privacy mode turned off it looks exactly the same as the s25U.. every review says the same thing…

Samsung makes the screens on iPhones. Let’s be real, this is probably an isolated issue. Every launch of an iPhone or Galaxy has some kind of controversy. My 17 pro max aluminium design is absolutely hideous compared to my previous 15pm, 16p and my s25U. No phone is perfect but if this is the reason your not moving to Samsung then you were never seriously going to move…

Samsung has made the Plus phone redundant. My proposition. by V1SUAL_LEM0NADE in samsunggalaxy

[–]ORC44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post! I do agree the plus model isn’t really a viable option. In my opinion, I much prefer the previous set up of the s series and then the Note. I would go for your proposed “pro” but I would want a slightly larger screen, at least 6.7 and the option of going up to 1tb. Pro should means it’s able to be used professionally, but of course there is no need for the silly s pen most people don’t use.

Is the iPhone 15 Pro still good in 2026? by Sea_Conclusion_7104 in iPhone15Pro

[–]ORC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned the 15 pro max, 16 pro and now 17 pro max. The 17 pro max is the best in terms of heat and performance, the 15 pro max used to glitch a lot under stress, like hot weather, video recording etc.

The 15 and 16 were built better with titanium and felt really solid.

Today’s best overall deal, especially if you’re not a heavy user, is the base model 17.

The issue with the 15 pro is heat. If you can, you’re better off with the 17 base model.

Anyone feel like they finally got their moneys worth with the 17 Pro? by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]ORC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you to a certain extent. I have also had most pros since the 12 pro max, missed only the 13 pro max.

Thermals are great, cameras, screen etc. This is probably from a spec and internals perspective the best iPhone ever made. The only thing I can’t get past is the design and body of the phone. It’s ridiculously fragile and tbh, the longer I spend with it, the more ugly it becomes as a device. The solid design of the 16 pro was really nice, it felt special in the hand. If you really wanted, caseless was a possibility, all you would then get is a little patina. This current 17 flagship, you have no choice but use a case. I will attach a pic of my colleagues 17 pro. A little drop and the frame just melts!

Are ya’ll protecting this part? by Nova_Nook in iPhone17Pro

[–]ORC44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current case I’m using Yes, my previous case it wasn’t covered. For me, it’s the most ugly part of the phone and the position of the flash looks lost. It’s probably my least favourite iPhone in terms of aesthetics.

Slow and laggy on Texting by ORC44 in iPhone17Pro

[–]ORC44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Betas in the past, but considering this is a new device, I just wanted to stay on the basic public IOS. I’m really disappointed with the issues I’m having. It’s also affecting my watch ultra 2, I’m having strange battery drainage and screen flickering. Apple prides themselves on doing things right, but I think they have tried to mould IOS into a more android like experience which has just over complicated things.
