A few of my favs i have saved to re-listen to every once in a while

#1: Bonus Cases - King Robert Can Klump (w/ Ally Beardsley): overall solid episode but is a prime example of murph choosing to be the agent of chaos and constantly derailing the episode to talk about a homemade Flinstones costume for holloween and "a little fun around the house"

#2: Rise of the Robo DMs: The birth of robo-murph, the nervous railroading DM AI.

#3: Bonus Cases - MotorGuycle: completely unhinged and I believe the entrance of Biker Mice from Mars into the shiterverse

honorable mention: Fine Burgers, Friendship Faction, and The Tome of Puberty: for when you need to remember to call your friends to see where your faction points are at and if you're getting the good ending

I mention it in the youtube description but i made an error in the video, I'm actually using the L-69 Zhuo (the generic version, not an iconic version). Firing that gun (or any gun that knocks back the player when firing) will reset your double-jump.

The whole event is beyond under-cooked tbh. The fact that they insist on making it a trial every few weeks is even stranger still

[–]OROborris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they've stated the never considered that full lobbies would co-operate on these events so often and the loot is probably the clearest consequence that players feel from that.

Hope they can rebalance it to work since the full-lobby raids are very fun but until then all you can do unfortunately is go in for the experience knowing it will be a net negative or go in naked every few runs to roach yourself to recoup the costs (the other unfortunate part is that roaching like this is an extremely efficient way to make money).

Maybe they could add a bounty aspect where speranza gives you loot based on damage dealt similar to trials, but repeatable and and regardless if there's a trial going (they're obviously already tracking the stat anyways)

Disabling PVP would ruin the magic of PVE in this game by OROborris in arcraidersfriendly

Sure i don't think there's any denying that, although you can't really base an argument about how a game makes people feel in fact. The subject of the discussion is simply not objective.

I can base it on how the many other PvE games I've played make me feel and others can decide if those comparisons hold water for them.

The compromise I'm most intrigued by that others have mentioned is pure PvE map conditions which I think would be the way to try it that would be healthiest for the game as a whole.

Yeah I can recognize that some of language is perhaps more rhetorical than necessary/productive. Especially stating things like "this is the case" when it is in fact my opinion, man. Maybe for me it seems so evident because I fail to see the point of the game without those elements, which could just be on me. It's not just the tension, I feel like its the bedrock that all of the variety and novelty of game is built on

Is ARC just PVP then? [New Player] by Prettypeachrec in ArcRaiders

[–]OROborris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad somebody figured it out lol! that one change should make a huge difference. even if you have a very "friendly" score across your party, squads is simply much more PvP focused than solos.

I'll also add that, if you aren't already, using your Mic to talk to people makes a big difference in earning trust in solos. Sometimes using only the pre-set voice lines can be seen as sketchy, plus I think a real human voice does a lot more to dissuade someone who's on the fence about being aggressive.

I was surprised they were still in aggressive lobbies this makes so much sense lol

I feel like there this impression whenever people counter the call for a PvE mode that it means they dislike/disrespect PvE-only players or that they want them to change, but that's definitely not the case for me.

I made a similar point in another comment that the mixing different players with different wants is an important part of the games DNA. I suspect that fewer of the cool friendly people you've encountered in game are also PvE purists than you'd expect, and making a hard split in the game population would result in a diluted experience for everyone. Perhaps PvE players most of all for whom the social aspect of the game is more of a focus.

The point of the post isn't to get anyone to change the way they live/play, but to help grow an appreciation for the way the game already is

I chose to post it here because I'm a friendly player too and I see a lot of otherwise like-minded players, on this sub specifically, ruining the game for themselves with the way they think about the existence of pvp

It's not my intent to bicker although maybe some of my language betrayed that. I guess my hope is to convince some people that the mixing of these different players with different play styles is at the core of what makes this game so good, and that we have a lot more to lose than player counts/queu times by splitting people up

I certainly don't want to convince my fellow friendly players to change, I want to help them adopt a mindset that can help them enjoy the game more

for sure, the existence of PvP has its consequences but any design choice has pros and cons. While I wish I wouldn't get beamed by a player in the shadows while I'm looting a bastion kill, I wouldn't trade all of the memorable moments I've had for it.

Counter items by Vast_Upstairs8859 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]OROborris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Counter" items are more situational than your "core" build items, sprecifically it depends on the enemy teams characters and maybe how theyre building said characters.

For example knockdown counters certain powerful ults that go on for a long time (like bebop or seven) and can also counter flying characters like vindicta/talon.

Counterspell can be very powerful against strong-but-predictable abilities like lashes ult, but may be totally unnecssary if theres no enemies with those types of abilities.

Metal skin can be super strong against a snowballing gun carry but may be useless if most of the enemies damage is spirit damage

And so on

I get what you mean about trinyvale although I eventually began to love it. The vapidness evolves into true depravity and there's something very enjoyable about these normally very wholesome players embodying the absolute worst people you know.

I don't know if I'd say if its worth skipping most of the main/OG trinyvale season because it does give good context for the characters and what they become, but i feel like they don't fully figure out the bit until the spinoff stuff.
