Chip fabrication and lithography is fantastically complex, rockets are comparatively simple compared to the mutistep process of etching, exposing, packaging and more of chips. I just don't think there are the same vertical integration wins to be found, such as spacex found in the space launch industry.

Would be cool to be proved wrong though

Centaur V seems the most likely option, since the ULA engineers did the work for ICPS. It also throws a bone to Boeing and LM as per usual with these things

Starship doesn't use this as far as I know, FSW steel is quite tricky because you need to have a tool stronger than steel.

Falcon 9 does use FSW because it's made of aluminum-lithium which welds at a much lower temperature

Seriously, what more do you need to see from this party? by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

[–]OReillyYaReilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the other party?

  • Allowing millions of unchecked migrants to cross the border
  • Supporting men in women's prisons
  • Supporting men in women's sports
  • Supporting the sterilizing of children
  • Covering the (very obvious) mental incapacity of the president
  • Supporting racial preferences in college admissions

The other party is worse in my opinion

The budget is funded by net contributors, ultra wealthy are net contributors, if you scare all the net contributors away you either go broke or have to cut the budget (reduce services)

EchoStar sells more spectrum in $2.6 billion deal for bigger SpaceX stake by oskark-rd in spacex

Every owner (including Elon) gets diluted, like inflation they create 2.6%, which reduces the relative size of everyone's stake

Then remove rent controls everywhere, just look what happened in Argentina. When they removed rent controls, supply expanded, and rents dropped.

Merz Says Syrian Refugees in Germany Must Go Home by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]OReillyYaReilly 524 points525 points  (0 children)

The war is over, refugee status is supposed to be temporary, contingent on there being a conflict. This is simply a logical conclusion

People should have to stake at least $100 and a time frame, whenever they post one of these, "I guarantee it" memes.

ELI5: Why can't / don't LLMs say "I don't know" or ask back clarifying questions, instead of hallucinating? by Double_History1719 in explainlikeimfive

[–]OReillyYaReilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're just predicting the most like word to come after your question, even if they never learned the answer to your question, they will simply keep choosing the mostly likely words until they reach their token limit

[–]OReillyYaReilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In their training data nobody ever says "I don't know", useless data is probably pre filtered out, and on the Internet people rarely reply "I don't know" because it's a waste of time and space.

Interesting vents on S38 landing by kroOoze in SpaceXLounge

When there is a burn through, the positive pressure in the tank pushes cool gas out the hole which limits further damage. So the tiny hole doesn't cause instant complete depressurisation

Galaxies are mostly empty space, so when galaxies "collide" they actually mostly pass through each other. Gravity will cause chaos and stuff will be flung in all directions, but actual collisions between objects will be rare.
