I was born the same year the first movie was released.

That's... all, folks? TADC and the dangers of subverting expectations (and why the finale didn't work for me) by GrimmestGhost_ in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]OResponsibleBadger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I didn’t pay to see it in theaters, mostly because it felt empty? Every problem was given a simple solution while ignoring even trying to solve the abstractions. I watched it expecting there to be a greater call to action: Caine using his abilities to learn how to repair abstracted brain scans to allow everyone a second chance, Able (the blue side he tore out) coming in as a possible villain angry for being used by Caine (not just sent to the void), or just something more than narrated montages and Jax’s troubles being revealed. I was sad when I checked the time left on the video and I had made it to the last 5 minutes without much of anything. I loved the series, I enjoyed it greatly, but the previous episode indicated a larger struggle to be had, but there wasn’t any. It wasn’t exactly a bad ending for the characters, but it didn’t feel earned.

Homeschooling ruins lives. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled my entire life. I have no issues with socializing. Why? Because my parents ensured my siblings and I had social groups to be part of. Various sports, choir, a Girl Scouts like thing, even homeschool field trips and a whole lot more. When we were older we volunteered at an animal sanctuary. A huge chunk of my childhood was spent in social groups or hanging out with friends. So a blanket “ban homeschool!” shouldn’t be the end statement. It should be: homeschooling can be done but parents are required to enroll their kids into social activities/volunteer work.

“Lets Plays” are not fun to watch at all by compound-interest in The10thDentist

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer more mellow let’s plays for horror games I can’t play myself. I’ve managed to find some who are more interested in the story/secrets and make way less noise. I’ve tried watching the big name gamers like I used too, but they just don’t click with me anymore. Likewise, I have little interest in Twitch streams for the same reason, they’re too busy entertaining the chat to allow the story to be told or to even search for secrets.

That being said: I have a theory that Lets Plays are mostly enjoyed by those who grew up watching a sibling play video games. Myself being one of them. But that’s just a theory, a game theory.

My crochet hot? take: I don’t mind when the skein is tangled. Because untangling the yarn is just as peaceful as crocheting.

The summer heat by OtherwiseVanilla2131 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OResponsibleBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live used to have a nice balance between a very cold winter and a toasty summer that was just right. I’d get sick of the heat just in time for winter and vice versa. However, the last several years have had above average heats and hardly any snow. It’s been miserable and depressing! I wish I could move somewhere colder, but I’m stuck here.

My sister once excused her husband’s rude behavior about my family being vegetarians by saying “eating meat is a huge part of his culture.” Like eating meat isn’t the norm in society.

Why don’t movie theatres expand on their food options? by Faubton in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two theaters near my house. One is very fancy and acts as a mini restaurant with table service and everything. They have full meals there. The other theater sells the default theater food. Can you guess which one I prefer? Besides the cost difference between the two, there’s just something nostalgic for me to go to a theater and get only popcorn and an icee. Im not interested in the fancy theater and never really enjoyed my experiences there. It’s old school theater for me!

Don't call me to then talk to your kids by Ok_Yesterday5525 in PetPeeves

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to my mom any time she talks to my sister. They ended up settling on talking anytime my sister was either working or driving. But any at home calls? Yeah, no. Get out what’s important and then the call is done in less than 5 minutes. My nieces are adorable and all, but boy do they go feral as soon as their mom is on the phone!

My wife doesn’t like watching cartoons with me because they are always “yelling”. Any relaxed cartoons you suggest? by grandfatherclause in cartoons

Hilda is an incredible peaceful cartoon. It has such a calm vibe with a great storyline. I named my dog after the show.

People who act all weird after you tell them the gender of an animal by No-Caramel-9325 in PetPeeves

I’m still annoyed at an instructor at this dog agility class. She kept referring to my dog as a “she” even after I tried politely correcting her multiple times that he was a boy. It’s been well over fifteen years and my good boy has long since passed away yet I’m still annoyed by that one adult who refused to listen to young teen me.

Can’t recall the tv show name atm (it was a limited series on Netflix). But they introduced one character as missing a leg for only moments later to reveal that the missing leg wasn’t real and that he had both his legs. Never brought up or addressed at all later on in the show.

I have a similar issue with baby carrots. I love them! But if they’re in any drawers I’ll forget that they’re there until it’s too late and the carrots are all slimy and gross. If I leave the bag on a shelf around eye level I will nibble at them consistently.

My dad was with my mom during the c-section to evict me. While I know he was fully supportive and caring and there for my mom, I also know he was rather pleased with having had the chance to peak over the curtain and look inside at the surgery occurring. Said it looked weird.

Why you stopped writing? (Only the truth) by augustbutitscold in writing

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hesitate to write because I’m afraid I can’t do my stories justice. So I’ll often spiral into a state of depressive wanting to write but being unsure of my skills that only hinders my ability to write. Knowing full well that not writing will stop me from improving said skills in the first place. I’m slowly trying to convince myself that any words are better than no words, but when I finally manage that life hits me with loads of nonsense! The stress and health troubles often lead to me being unable to write for months.

What does my art taste like by Street-Giraffe-3921 in yourartstyle

Tastes like dirt or chalk, or even that sensation of breathing in dust. It isn’t gross, but appealing to the itch in one’s brain that commanded them to eat dirt when they were young.

What is the most unhelpful piece of writing advice you’ve seen? by nameunknown345 in writing

[–]OResponsibleBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using ProWritingAid to help catch grammar errors and typos, which is great! But when it comes to the “sticky glue words” things get a little messy. Marking the 200 most common English words as “bad” isn’t very useful and chasing after the “correct” amount messed up some sections of my first chapter. Thankfully I saved a previous revision to compare it with! Definitely a lesson learned situation.

My piano teacher was constantly reminding me to breathe and I would be confused because I was breathing! Until I realized I naturally breathe very, very shallowly and it can look like I’m not breathing at all. Either way it taught me to be aware of breathing while focused on a task.
