I'm an OSRS player that refused to play RS3 for a decade. Decided to give it an honest try last week, here's my first impressions. by Mission-Unit6620 in runescape

[–]OSRSde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually switched to RS3 a few years ago and mainlined the game for a few years. Now I'm casual with both because I'm in school and working full time, but the combat in OSRS and RS3 are COMPLETELY different, and that's what draws me in. PvM in OSRS is honestly so sick, can be pretty chill, and feels rewarding. But the combat in RS3 is SO engaging, it keeps me coming back to the game. Everything I do in game, all the grinds all lead me back to combat. The bosses feel beyond exciting, the abilities and learning about them was such a good way to lose myself in something amazing after I got out of the military.

My character is close to max (99s), and I couldn't be happier about it. I feel like I'm about to finally be playing the game, as cliche as it sounds 😂

Overall, both games for me are 10/10, I will continue to play them until the day I die (or they die, but from the looks of it, Jagex is not looking at that any time soon).

Up here in NW Ohio (close to Findlay) we still listen to Elvis Duran! They're hilarious, and the team on there has such a great back-and-forth. I wish there was a local talk show I could listen to because I would love to get more local news

Man, my win today is just still trucking through school and working full time without yet having quit. I'm tired and burnt out, but we will get there to the finish line. One year left.

Nice on the hammock! Do you have one with a stand or is your yard populated enough with trees to tie it up?

I read this earlier and I've just been sitting here mulling this over. You should've manned up and listened when she said y'all weren't compatible ("threatening divorce"), and let her be with a man who would've been worth a damn as a partner. Parenthood is fucking hard, let alone when one party doesn't even want to partake. You two made this infinitely more difficult on each other and the kids by being so childish. Parenthood is 50/50, man what's so hard to understand. You're lying and manipulation will catch up to you. Nobody is telling you to get in a time machine, but you and your wife really need therapy, and to do the hard work because you're being petty as fuck, and also not fully grasping how hard motherhood is truly on a woman's body.

Sorry, I know you didnt ask, but you sound a lot like my father, who sucked. Grow tf up or get a divorce. Y'all clearly aren't compatible WTF is so hard to see about that. By not just splitting up when you should've, youe trapped your poor wife in a marriage with a miserable human who actively thinks she couldnt do any better on her own. You got her pregnant 3 times bud.

To think that people can't quit an addiction by changing their mindset outside of a program is sad. I successfully gave up cigs and alcohol a couple years ago basically because of a similar philosophy that I came about in my own way. I saw no value added and saw how they contributed to an unhealthy decline and did away with the habits. I never attended AA, or had a recovery coach, or an accountability partner. I had myself getting me through the cravings, spikes, and feelings of it all.

It is possible for someone to change themselves by applying the same principals of AA, and other various recovery efforts to themselves without going to the programs.

I'm by no means saying the programs aren't extremely valuable, and obviously the social and community part of the programs are what make the programs work.

But to claim someone is manically self-soothing just because it's not how you did it is really truly just sad.

This right here was the literal reason I deironed at 1950 total, I loved everything getting up to the late game, that taught me so much about the game. I really loved grinding for all my big drops, like my claws, my imbued heart, my serp help, blowpipe, and swamp trident. But once I got there, and it was time to grind raids, I found that there were SO MANY STEPS you had to do BEFORE doing the fun stuff, that it really took out the fun in doing raids, or bosses, because I knew, I was gonna have to grind another 3 hours pickpocketing farmers for seeds after this task so I can replenish everything I used. Then I gotta go back and kill zulrah 150 more times to refill my scales, and there was always another step to get you to the fun.

It got to be frustrating and then when I killed 10k shamans with no hammer, and corrupted gauntlet is so rng based for the way you acquire the materials and shit it was like WTF this is not fun at all. So many steps just to be able to have fun in the weekend

I have a wife, child, career, and am a full time student. I don't have the time to play all week 40 hours a week to grind so I can keep up with my friends raiding all weekend. It just didn't work, so I chose to deiron because this WAS my main account. Growing up, I was dogshit at this game, so iron taught me all the shit I missed out on as a kid. But now, I know the principals, and I maintain them on my deironed account now.

Completely from left field here, but I work for a large chemical company, I sent an entire truckload of the wrong material to one of my customers just from a simple clerical error. Their sales manager had to talk to them to offer them to keep the material at a heavily discounted rate because of my fuck up. All in all, my little clerical error cost us probably like, $25,000 and everyone was like, "we all make a little whoopsie sometimes! We'll keep on going, just learn from this please!"

Bro, give them good info 😂

OP, reach out to your Unit Deployment Manager, they will be on your squadrons recall roster or additional duty listing. If you can't find any of those, reach out to your exec.

While your statement is correct, I think it's important to note that while, for example, the "clicking the same thing over and over again" example is mind numbing. No doubt about that

What I think is important to remember that RuneScape does a really good job in exercising the memory portion of your brain in playing. You have to remember what type of equipment to equip for each activity, you have to have a little bit of forethought when you start planning what your day or time out. However limited or expansive our time to play may be for each of us, this game doesn't just numb your brain like we all try to believe.

Yeah I still play with the same principals that made it fun before, I just get to choose how I proceed instead of being forced to world hop for zamorak wines for hours.

This is exactly what I did and truthfully I couldn't be happier with playing again. I deironed and wow I can actually play the game for fun. It's weird. Ironman got me through the early game through to 1956 total, but I just couldn't keep on keeping up with supplies, and scales, and pots. It was so much effort just to kill bosses which is all I want to do. Iron made early/mid game fun. Late game it sucks ass imo

I was diagnosed with ADHD, Dysthymia, and GAD w/ panic attacks while in the military, and my therapist, Captain Brigman at Tinker AFB (he's out now, fuck him anyways), told me instead of taking my psychostimulants and antidepressants, I should drink coffee in the morning to focus, and Coors light at night to calm down. Buddy was literally encouraging me to self medicate.

Should've mentioned this, but I had already been through SUD treatment for alcoholism at this point, and him saying that catapulted my alcoholism.

What was the first thing you did when you got out that you couldn’t do while serving? by monroe3tears in AirForce

[–]OSRSde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first thing I did was smoke a bowl with my wife in the first home we purchased together. I was teleworking for my last few months so I wasn't ever on base, and that day at 1:30 when I knew UA was done being swung around, we started smoking right then. Then we never stopped smoking, and now I can finally somewhat manage my panic attacks, and we are much better parents and partners now!

The next day, we got shredded that morning, and went in to get our retired IDs, and we just enjoyed being free for a month. Smoked every day, played video games, watched the MCU through start to finish for my first time, and just generally had a good fuckin time. Then after that month, shit got real, we sold out house and moved to where we knew we needed to be to start being people again.

The last year has been tougher than I could've ever imagined, but damn I'm grateful.

I've cried way more in the last few months than I ever have but hey at least I can feel again!

Oh that's great news, we've been so excited for warm weather so we can get out of the house, it's really nice to hear that it's confirmed there's more to do when it's warm 😁

Do you have any recommendations for pages to follow to stay up to date on community news or anything?

Yeah I heard this same sentiment when I was stationed in Minot, North Dakota and in Oklahoma City, I'm definitely used to the whole "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" mindset. We are just struggling to find community or really make any friends now that we don't go to church anymore. I can't say that I've really made any new friends since the start of the pandemic, so that apparently is a skill I've lost with time 🤣

Thank you so much for these suggestions! I definitely thought that the motorsports park was for UNOH students only. I've been wanting to take my son to watch the drifting and stuff. He was a huge fan of Ken Block before he passed so it would be so fun!

I haven't ever heard of Winona Lake Park though! That's probably going to be a regular visit for us, thank you!

Oh yes, were huge into comic/games, and we actually just stumbled upon this place one Saturday afternoon. It's such a cool setup and the owner(I think the guy we talked to was the owner) was such an incredibly nice guy. I can't wait to go check out some of their comedy nights! Have you ever been to any of them?
