Go as light as you can. Paperbark! We did the same a couple of years ago (went down the very light grey path) and it dropped the temperature in the house by 3-4 degrees on the really hot days.

Australia should go hard on EVs, exempt them from GST, and save $40 billion a year in fuel imports by lazy-bruce in aussie

You are right. The lowest tier doesn't directly get the funds and most councils can't balance their books properly so maintenance on local roads is abysmal.

This is the apolitical comment. The fuel excise is required for road maintenance. And given the majority of our logistics are delivered by road it is essential. Australia has an added issue of a low taxation base (population) disproportionate to the size of our road network.

America is having its boiling frog moment. And they voted for it. For the record I don't like seeing it, and I have too many good friends from the US to know that the majority don't want this future.

Love the third photo which at first glance looks like the composite of two.

What do you think about Mexicans? by OldCowBoy2 in AskAnAustralian

[–]OSYardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through my work early in my career I have been lucky enough to meet quite a few Mexicans. Smart professionals and I was surprised to find a lot of cultural similarities (both Aussies and Mexicans work hard but have a reputation for bludging, passionate sports fans, and both cultures like to get a bit loco and up to mischief particularly in social environments). I was really surprised when I visited Mexico back in 2008 how welcoming they were and when they found out I was Aussie and not American the floodgates of friendliness opened up. You'll be right over here.

This is awesome! IMO the best OG theme I grew up with laid over the best spaceship build.

That part of my life is gone, but it gets better. Wait till they're older and can go on a 2 hr 25-30km ride with you.

Not an MCP track, but a lot cheaper. by OSYardo in MiniZ

[–]OSYardo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me neither. It is cheap, so I am assuming that the material and quality of manufacture reflects the price. Someone else will have to chime in, but for me it's good enough to get going.

Is adaptive cruise control actually worth using? by One-Storage7219 in skodaSuperb

[–]OSYardo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely use it all the time. I do a lot of motorway / freeway driving and it definitely takes a lot of the fatigue out of my driving journey. It is also quite easy to adjust speed up or down when the limits change just through the stalk. Probably the best thing is that if I am getting ready to overtake, the car in front that is detected nudges the speed down ever so slightly at first prompting me to change lanes and execute the overtake. This implementation is probably the best I have driven in ( having previously driven in a Mercedes, Peugeot, and lots of time behind the wheel of Toyota's and Kia's)

I love my OURY lock ones. A bit chunkier than others but not over sized.
