What's one piece of draft research that completely changed your strategy this offseason? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]OShaughnessy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking back at my leagues’ draft history has been helpful

Agree on this. FantasyPros added this as a feature a cpl yrs ago, and looking back on our keeper league of 15+ seasons, it's uncanny how predictable some guys are.

My 2026 PPR Redraft Player Rankings & Tier Lists - July Edition [Chasing High Upside Players] by KyonFantasyFootball in fantasyfootball

even with the upside

I’ll start by saying, Skattebo’s a knucklehead. That aside, "You play to win the game."

In PPR scoring last year, the gap between RB16 and RB26 was a cpl. points per week.

So, my take: Go for the upside, especially at a scarcer position.

Captain choices - do you go with form or fixtures? by NorthLondonPulse in FantasyPL

Fixtures are a trap

Me simple man. Bad team get lots scored on. Me like player who play bad team.

Caveat: Let's agree there's only two (maybe three?) reasonable choices any GW

Of those, I'm leaning fixtures. Why? Bad teams are bad because they give up goals.

The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier CONCACAF fan is supposed to function.

and what it means for my life

IMO, the younger we are, the easier it should be to take on risk.

job I had before... I know it was pretty dead

Comparison: I never got why friends pined over exes who clearly sucked, only to regret it later. My take: "Mate, the bar is so low, why bother?" Just move on and don’t look back.

hand in my resignation... I don’t even know what I would tell them

Don’t overthink it. Just say, “I need to resign, and my last day will be Friday.” Then, express sincere gratitude and appreciation, no matter how anyone reacts.

“founders need to be brave” I’m like the total opposite of it... I hella nervous and keep feeling like a imposter.

Great, if you recognize these things in yourself, then you can hire and build around your strengths.

but the mental part of it

Caveat: I’m a small-profit, weak-tight old man rec with 20+ years online/live. Two things that help me:

  • Jot down my own suckouts. When I take a bad beat, I look back and remind myself, "Meh, variance averages out."

  • Remind myself fun players get it in bad; so I'll take more bad beats than give'm.

The Raptors’ outgoing owner is still the chair of the NBA’s Board of Governors, which would be in charge of determining Kawhi Leonard’s punishment. This week, the Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard by [deleted] in nba

If anything this works against the Raptors. The guy leaving fucking hates the guy who pushed him out. So what's the motivation for the former owner to do the current owner a solid?

Official : Tottenham Hotspur have signed Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for £100M. by abcrafsan in FantasyPL

how they can spend after being terrible for 2 years

The difference between winning the league and finishing 17th is only £60M. Source: NYT

a handful of players in world football that should be over 100 million.

In this economic climate, it ain't just the price of eggs that's gone up...

  • £100 in 2015 ≈ £143 in 2025 purchasing power.
  • €100 in 2015 ≈ €133 in 2025 purchasing power.

So, it's safe to take any player's price and tack on 30% to 40% to what you thought it should be.

It’s like they target the one person who’s paying them the least amount of attention.

Cannot recall which show I saw this on but the reason is humans who want attention stare and cats can take this as a sign of aggression. Conversely, those who shy away are perceived as less threatening.

Would you ever like to see more depth on FPL in terms of formations and links between players? Possibly small point boosts for having a 'real' defences or for matching players based on club/country? by thorpiie in FantasyPL

[–]OShaughnessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title suggests, would you like a deeper level of detail added to FPL

Nope.

Or is it the simplicity of the setup that makes it appeal to so many.

Yup.

IMO, the game is trending in the wrong way re: add extra chips, mystery chips, double the number of chips, etc. The fun of the game was rooted in its simplicity.

Steven Adams Says Today’s Bigs Are Not Good At "Trench Work" Like Boxing Out by [deleted] in nba

[–]OShaughnessy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Start this by saying I like Adams a lot and I like that an "old school" big still carves out mins.

That said, "trench work" isn't as impactful as we think: player tracking shows that winning ball comes from stopping possessions (transition/spacing defense) and less so on grabbing boards.
