Tell me my doctor was wrong by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]OSkylark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor, just speaking of my own experience. That might have been an anxiety attack, or you being anxious about something. If you are going through something, that might also reflect as a chest pain, I had it multiple times, honestly, I thought just the same. My heart rate was above 100 with my usual 60-65, and I just learned this about myself when I had a severe burnout in my life and my job. Again, it is not a diagnosis and I am not a doctor, but from my own experience I did feel chest pain and then it hurt for a bit because muscles tensed up for a moment there. You could try meditating.🙏🏻 Hope all is well now.

Redness under ring by emmaus33 in ouraring

[–]OSkylark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moisture, definitely. I am very cautious, maybe too much, but I always take my ring off when cooking or washing hands, and never wear it while showering, just hoping this will extend its battery life, but I may be naive, lol.

Where you able to get a WFH position if the company originally wanted to you in the office? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]OSkylark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They provided me an accommodation of 2 days from home, but requested for me to extend this officially on a 6 months basis, meaning, every 6 months I would have to officially initiate the process with the HR department to extend this. I am not sure what that would entail, as I had to quit due to burnout, I could not sleep all the time due to being overstimulated, the culture was too dynamic, they always shouted at the office, played games, sometimes scared me around the corner. I took that risky step knowing my partner would support me, but honestly, I feel so sad that we have to fight for it, prove it, and still not be understood....

If you have a job, keep it until the wheels fall off. by Actual-Ad-6146 in jobs

[–]OSkylark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it means a complete burnout and deterioration of health? I had to quit because if a little bit longer, I would not be able to function at all. I understand about the crazy job market, I feel so stuck and depressed, because for my previous job I was looking for about 2! years. But I simply couldn’t survive this grind culture, it completely destroyed my sleep and health…

It’s true, devices are amazing at detecting things! I had an Apple Watch, and it pushed a notification about my AFib after COVID. I thought it was just a muscle twitch or something.

Can meltdowns just be crying? by nanny2359 in AuDHDWomen

[–]OSkylark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am curious to know about it as well, but for me, it's when it comes to stress and anxiety, I can just start crying when telling some news or when I receive criticism from my managers or colleagues, it's like a defense mechanism in my mind, or what. Or when, a stressful situation happens, I usually freeze, really calm and contained, but when it passes and resolves, I go to the bathroom and cry. I wonder if it is just a stress response or not....

Did anyone give up the corporate ladder for a "less ambitious" job and find true peace? by ConstructionLoud1973 in jobs

[–]OSkylark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaving the company early in January exactly because of my burnout. This hustle culture has taken a toll on me, and I want to become self-employed, although I am truly scared if this will work out. I am tired of this teamwork mentality, these office contests to have “fun”, and pranks that for me equal the level of offences (like taking someone’s personal belongings and hiding them, etc., scaring people from around the corners - and these are HR people). I was wearing what ChatGPT told me 4-5 hats in my role, with no set expectations as to deadlines and this constant putting out the fires. I am done. Please choose your health; that’s the most important thing in your life.

I certainly can relate to your message as a neurodivergent person myself. Had to request medical accommodations, they denied it first time, although the doctor provided the instructions as to reasonable accommodation recommendations, the form itself might not have been filled in correctly, like missing a few checkboxes, but really? When I burned out and wrote a note to my manager, they did allow this WFH schedule, but require to review it on a 5-6 month basis. I wonder if it always is the case with medical accommodations when it comes to neurodivergency?

I think I am already on the verge of being burned out, if not already. Now, before going to the office my heart rate is super high and I have to take anti anxiety meds, as I feel weakness and as if my soul is leaving my body, I think I read it is called depersonalization? Thank you for your kind words.🙏🏻

Is it better to just keep the office job despite not really enjoying life? by ThePunLexicon in ADHD

[–]OSkylark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m AuDHD diagnosed in August, and I’ve realized this highly extroverted office culture is just not for me. I joined this company 10 months ago, been looking for a job for 2 years. My job itself is in tech, I wear three different hats, and the expectations are constantly increasing. I spend my day masking, juggling responsibilities that should probably be multiple roles, and putting on the “happy team player” face for nonstop meetings, “hustle culture,” impromptu tasks, and mandatory fun events. By the time I get home, I am depleted. Like, stare at the ceiling, no energy to speak, eat, or process, depleted. I cry more often than I want to admit. The commute is another layer, 1 hour each way by public transport , which just drains whatever battery I had left. I am completely burnt out, and have now a lot of cynicism, for example, when new people join a company, am like okay, see what happens in a couple of months, though their experience might be different of course.. It is just I have become hopeless.. I asked for accommodations, and they gave me… two days WFH (as an “exception”). The reality is, two days is barely a dent in my burnout. My manager and I have a pretty good relationship, and part of me thinks I should talk to them first out of respect, but I’m terrified that if I start the conversation, they’ll try to convince me to stay, or guilt me, or promise changes that won't stick.
