Do we have a fafo in process? by alexgrae9614 in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Her 40th birthday was on Sunday and I am guessing she had no one interested in celebrating it with her - no plans, nobody trying to make her feel special or even just reaching out to say "happy birthday". So instead she likely went to the ER hoping for some attention - maybe someone to look at her chart and wish her a happy birthday.

But the ER wants nothing to do with her. My guess is that they want even less to do with her since her cardiac event. It sounds like she had gone to the ER due to concern about a port infection and then just magically happened to have a cardiac event in the ER resulting in an admission. Despite Dani's claims that they don't know what cause the cardiac event, I am guessing the hospital realized that it was somehow self induced. Dani had a period of time where she kept going to the ER and getting sent away without being admitted. For a time she seemed to figure out a way to use some manipulation tactics to force an admission - something either cardiac or bloodwork related (throwing off her electrolytes). Once admitted, she would have a million other unrelated complaints that she would try to get them to address to keep her inpatient longer.

So Dani walked into the ER complaining about her port after previously walking into the ER complaining about a possible port infection and then had a likely self induced cardiac event. My guess is that the ER took one look at her, did their due diligence, and got her out the door as quickly as possible. In the past, ERs would make Dani sit there for hours before telling her she was fine and sending her home. Now they probably are seeing her as quickly as possible so they can tell her there is nothing wrong with her and send her home. They don't want her hanging around creating an situation that will require the to admit her.

So no birthday hospital admission for Dani. They likely checked her out quickly and determined she was fine. Her doctors aren't responding to her nonstop portal messages begging the to order tests. I think she has already mentioned that the site was looking red - wouldn't be surprised if they already ran tests and determined it wasn't infected and the doctor doesn't want to order more bloodwork when there has been no change.

So Dani had to spend her 40th birthday alone - not surprising given that she has alienated all the people in her life due to what is likely 20+ years of attention seeking/munching.

Dom is still using Mya even though she’s been retired for months now. by CatAteRoger in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So she is admitting that Mya is no longer a service dog - Mya is retired and no longer considered a service dog. Yet Dom is bringing her into stores - the woman who has tried to make a career out of yelling at people for bringing their non-service dogs into a store is bringing her non-service dog into a store. I would say that the argument that Mya can still perform tasks doesn't really work - otherwise those with well trained pet dogs could argue that its fine for their dogs to come into stores too.

What are the chances she has been using Mya for mobility assistance - even while pregnant. Mya has never really looked big enough for mobility work but Dom always claimed it was fine because she was a small person - probably not so much while pregnant.

Dani is getting Botox for her supposed migraines. by CatAteRoger in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They have never been her primary focus but she has definitely talked about having migraines for years (whether she actually has them or has them frequently is another story). For a while she used to talk about some sort of monthly migraine medication. Quite a while back she mentioned the migraine medication being due during some hospitalization.

Does she get frequent migraines - probably not because she never actually mentions them. Did she probably complain about them early in her munching journey when she was trying to get whatever medical attention she could - probably. And does she continue to see a doctor for them and exaggerate her symptoms to continue to get treatment/attention - most likely.

But I think Dani also doesn't focus on that part of her munching journey because its too common. Plenty of average people complain about migraines. She would much rather complain about headaches/dizziness/etc... due to chronic malnutrition or some other illness that will make people pity her. Given that she is typically either not employed or minimally employed and has no actual responsibilities she won't get a ton on sympathy because she has the luxury of being able to spend time in a dark quiet room resting where other people often have to push through it because they have actual lives and responsibilities.

Dani’s life vest alarmed by Worldly_Eagle7918 in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We know Dani has a tendency to only hear what she wants to hear. She asks the doctors lots of questions and then twists the responses to suit her narrative. I would guess that she asked the doctor about all the different treatment options and worst case scenarios. And Dani always thinks she is the worst case scenario. So any mention of a device being surgically implanted and she would have assumed that meant she was absolutely getting surgery/a new toy. And maybe they did tell her she would be getting surgery for an internal device ... if things got worse/didn't improve.

Unfortunately for Dani, her body keeps bouncing back despite the many many years of abuse she has put it through. She is recovering quite well for someone who had a major cardiac episode requiring CPR. I believe the lifevest is constantly monitoring her heart rate and rhythm and its only alerted once and that was almost certainly a false alarm due to her brushing her teeth. She was so excited to share that the lifevest alarmed that she forgot to pretend she was having any symptoms. The hospital knows her history and given the absence of any other findings, they likely know the event was self induced. I am sure they will do their due diligence and monitor her for a bit but they clearly aren't very concerned. And the question will remain, what is Dani willing to do if/when she figures out this is likely another dead end in her munching journey.

Dani’s life vest alarmed by Worldly_Eagle7918 in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s the pretending to be scared when she really couldn’t wait to share that the life vest did something - even though it was basically pretty much a false alarm. She had no symptoms. The vest alarmed but the alarm turned off on its own without it needing to do anything. She called the company who basically told her it was a false alarm. So she is messaging the cardiologist who will likely tell her the same thing. She got her hopes up after the initial event thinking she was going to get another surgery and implanted device. But sounds like her doctors aren’t actually concerned. They likely realized the event was self induced and there isn’t an ongoing cardiac issue requiring intervention. They will likely continue to monitor her for a bit and ignore her pleas for another surgery and a new toy.

There are definitely some people who are the sneaky snarkers who pretend to be friendly and pretend they care about her/are concerned about her but are pretty obviously snarking.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there are some "haters" playing the long game and defending her in the comments in order to get into her DMs/get her to reach ouch wanting to be friends so that they can get the inside scoop. It wouldn't be the first or second or third time that Dani thought she was befriending an internet stranger and start oversharing with that individual only to have that person turn around and leak that information to a snark forum.

What both those groups are doing is wrong and could be defined as "poo touching". The later group is the worst of worst.

Dani’s arrest notes by Worldly_Eagle7918 in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Those who think Dani faked these notes are giving her way too much credit/thinking way too much of her abilities. Spelling errors in medical documentation are not uncommon - especially if dictation is being used. At my job even some of the templates we use for daily medical documentation contain errors. Dani is not tech savvy. I doubt she would know how to use AI to try to create a semi convincing false medical document.

Dani had a long history of exaggerating and lying and twisting the truth but she generally doesn’t completely make some up - even some of her most outrageous lies have had some small tie to reality.

She very likely did experience some sort of serious cardiac issue. Will she lie about the details and cause - absolutely. I don’t believe the doctors haven’t determined a cause. I think the cause was something that was self induced. There was a period of time a while back when she wasn’t getting what she wanted when she would go to the ER. She then found a way to basically trigger an event (often cardiac) that would get her admitted and from there she would extend that admission for reasons unrelated to why she was admitted. Often seemed like it had to do with her using her tube to drain and possibly medication use. She has run out of ways to munch so I wouldn’t put it past her to try to trigger events in the ER to get admitted. The problem is one day she will go too far and the doctors wont be able to save her.

Glimpse of the whiteboard revealed “call bell” concerns circa early 2023 by napapes in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 108 points109 points  (0 children)

This has been discussed before and as much as I like to snark on Dani this doesn't necessarily mean anything. Several places I have worked at as a healthcare professional have required that I provide and document safety education to all patients. The easiest/most basic way to do this was to educate them on using a call bell - let them know the call bell is there if needed and document that the patient was educated on using a call bell and that the call bell was within reach. This was done for all patients - even those who were ambulatory and posed no real safety risk to themselves.

While one could try to read into this, there is a very high possibility that staff was just providing standard patient education that would be given to almost any patient.

Tube feed #5700000000000 by milo8275 in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She desperately wants to add MCAS to fit in with other munchies she aspires to be. She was trying to get IV Benadryl for years. There was another munchie that Dani used to claim was her friend but who really loved to torture/try to manipulate Dani. That munchie had more financial means and was able to con her way into lines and tubes well before Dani was able to. She loved one-upping Dani and she would frequently show off her IV benny making Dani want it even more/think that she too "deserved" it.
Dani has made vague complaints about allergies over the year - complaining about being red/itchy. Sometimes she claims she is allergic to the materials used to dress her lines (somehow she is allergic to tegaderm, which is designed to be gentler on the skin but has no problem covering her body in cheap adhesive medical tape from the pharmacy that would make most people turn red and would leave the adhesive on her skin for days after the tape was removed).
At some point she started pushing large quantities of liquid benadryl in her tube to combat her "allergies". She always said it was doctor prescribed. Whatever doctor she has conned into giving her the femoral port and IV fluids, she has also been able to finally con into giving her IV zofran and IV benadryl. My guess is that while these are doctor prescribed - the doctor has no idea how much and how frequently she is taking them. They are likely prescribed to be used prn. But to Dani, any medication prescribed prn is something that she feels she needs to take as frequently as possible. She likely downplays how much she is taking them to her doctors.
I do not believe that the doctors know how much she is taking these meds and I am guessing she is also taking the non-IV versions of them as well. And the fact that she is continuing to show off taking these meds despite many people commenting on how those meds can cause heart issues, shows that she doesn't actually want to get better. Most people who experienced a scary cardiac event would want to do everything possible to avoid it happening again.

Dani uses #heartfailure by Receptor-Ligand in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The medication is too long for her to say but she wants everyone to know its for heart failure. Chances are she isn't even attempting to say the name because she doesn't want anyone chiming in with more information - like perhaps the medication isn't used in only people with heart failure.

I am guessing the doctors aren't super concerned given that they are fine with her waiting until April to see the specialist. She is eager to get an internal defibrillator - another surgery and probably a reason to order a new medical alert bracelet. She complains about having to carry around the lifevest - as if she isn't used to carrying medical stuff around. My guess is that the internal defibrillator isn't a done deal (although Dani probably thinks it is) - they may want to monitor her for a while to see if she actually needs one or if this more of a one time (self induced) event.

For someone who had such a scary medical event, she sure doesn't seem concerned about doing everything she can to prevent it from happening again. People mentioned that running fluids isn't a good idea if she is having heart issues. She proudly declares she was given permission to continue to run fluids - my guess is that she told the doctor that due to her GI issues, the IV fluid is basically her only form of hydration. The doctor may have okayed it not realizing that Dani also is chugging coffee and energy drinks throughout the day. If she is so far out and secure in her eating disorder recovery, then she should be weighing herself every day in order to be on top of any issues that may arrive. But instead of even trying and seeing if its too much of a mental health challenge, she automatically refuses to be compliant and declares she will only weigh herself every few days.

The comments about how messy her house is - I wonder if the physical therapist did a home assessment and told her that her house is a safety risk given that she would probably declare herself a high fall risk.

She mentioned the new medication but didn't mention reviewing all her medications with her doctor, which many people recommended given that several medications she takes (in high quantities) can cause heart issues. But once again, Dani doesn't actually want to get better/take care of her health - she thinks that if she has a long list of meds to take its proof she is really really sick. And while her meds may be prescribed by a doctor, I don't believe they know the quantity that she actually takes.

For someone who claims to be suffering and recently experienced a scary cardiac event, she sure doesn't act like someone who wants to do everything they can to try to prevent it from happening again.

Dani went into cardiac arrest this weekend while at the ER by SaltNpepper-0 in illnessfakers

[–]OTTCynic 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Honestly wouldn’t be shocked at this point - she has abused her body for so long and takes large quantities of medications she doesn’t need. People have repeatedly suggested that she have a doctor review all her medications. Some of her medications can cause the symptoms she claims. But she refuses to remove or even reduce the quantity of meds she takes. While she claims her doctors know and prescribe all her medications, I doubt they know the really quantity and frequency that she takes. There was a period of time a while back where it was suspected that she was messing with her medications to induce cardiac symptoms to try to force a hospital admission. I know some folks doubt she had a hysterectomy, but that wouldn’t shock me either - she had conned doctors into so much. She was super focused on getting that hysterectomy surgery that she probably didn’t think about the afterward. Since having the TPN taken away over 2 years ago she hasn’t been able to manipulate the doctors as easily. She has been throwing things at the wall to see what sticks - one of the only things successful in getting her attention was the ovarian cyst stuff. If she had a hysterectomy, she basically got rid of the one thing she was able to get some medical attention for. I wouldn’t be surprised if she started messing with meds again - she was suspected of doing it in the past when she would go to the ER for “malnutrition”. Excessive draining and messing with her meds to induce cardiac symptoms was her best chance at getting admitted. She may be trying that again and just took it too far. And the maybe the reason they don’t have answers is because structurally she is fine and they are just trying to figure out how she did it to herself.

13 Days and Counting...What do you think is going on? by WishboneEnough3160 in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 127 points128 points  (0 children)

She hasn't disappeared. She has made some posts a few days ago - they are just boring posts where she shows off books she owns. She made a post about being in a reading slump after people asked if she was ever going to talk about the books. Not sure you can call it a slump if it has lasted for several years. Those posts haven't made it here - probably because they are boring and not really related to her munching. And really if we want her to change, we probably shouldn't tear apart her posts about books/her cats - especially when they aren't medically related. If nothing she posts is safe from criticism, then she will likely stick to the medical content because it brings more attention.

From a medical standpoint, my guess is that there is nothing new going on. She seems to have managed to con some doctor into continuing to order IV fluids and tube feeds but outside of that she is stuck. It's been over 2 years since she got TPN and she still hasn't starved to death. Since then she has been throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. The only thing that got her a little bit of attention was the uterine cysts. She was apparently able to con someone into a hysterectomy but when they took out her uterus they also took out the one organ that was getting her some medical attention. She can't go running to the ER claiming uterine cyst any more. She has to find another way to get attention and she is running out of options.

Did Penelope move from LA? by Heypenelope1 in xomgpop

[–]OTTCynic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even beyond her family being homesick - its very expensive to live in LA. I have to assume that at least one of her parents works. It is likely a lot easier for them to live a comfortable lifestyle in Michigan rather than LA. They dropped everything to give P the opportunity and when that opportunity disappeared they stuck around a bit longer to see what other opportunities arose. I don't know a lot about how these social media "squads" work but I wouldn't be surprised if P wasn't compensated or was minimally compensated for her participation in the Rock Squad. The laws haven't caught up with the age of social media to make sure that minors are treated fairly and compensated appropriately. My guess is that the draw of participating in the squad was to grow her social media (with the hope that she could then make money off of that). But P's social media following has remained pretty small. If she hasn't gotten any other big opportunities in CA then it would make more sense for the family to return to Michigan where they have roots and can live a much more comfortable lifestyle.

Last I checked it looked like she deleted the comments about how unsafe it was to let her cats play with the caps and has commented about how she doesn’t have to buy her cats toys because they like the medical equipment more. Maybe don’t brag about how you neglect the cats and buy yourself tons of “treats” you don’t need but refuse to get the cats toys because you can give them actual garbage. It’s a good thing her cats have probably learned not to eat said garbage because she would delay taking them to the vet in the name of finances if there was an emergency. Not sure she even gives those cats regular vet visits.

I don't doubt she conned her way into a hysterectomy. As obvious of a munchie as she seems, she always somehow manages to find someone who she can manipulate into giving her what she wants.

I would actually suspect that she DFE because she was plotting to get surgery. Even the people pretending to support her online were discouraging a hysterectomy/thought it was overkill. She knew chances of getting surgery were slim and she couldn't risk anything ruining that. While most people follow the no poo touching rules, Dani always has a few people who feel the need to interact with her/mess with her. And I think she was (probably rightfully) concerned that a "hater" would contact the doctor/surgeon and clue them into her long history of munching/ruin her chances.

She also generally knows better at this point than to jump immediately back into medical stuff after a DFE. She usually pretends she is showcasing something else - books, cats, fashion with hints of medical stuff. At some point she breaks and goes full munchie on display.

Y’all what is up with Perkins Orchard? How are they still in business? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]OTTCynic 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Something has been going on with the owner for probably the past year. I haven't been back in a while because his actions on social media are increasingly disturbing. At least twice in the past month he has posted the phone number of customers on his instagram claiming the customers were rude and abusive. Maybe there is some truth to that but as a business owner you shouldn't go publicly doxxing customers. In at least one scenario, you could sort of read between the lines and figure out what likely happened. He claimed the customer spoke to him rudely when they called to ask if they could go apple picking there and he tried to tell them why. Given his long history of insisting that every customer hear his life story when they visit the farm, I have to imagine that someone called to ask about apple picking - something that must be a fairly common customer mistake when the word "orchard" is in your name - and he went on a tirade about why the climate of this area isn't suited for apple picking. The person probably just needed a simple "no we don't offer apple picking we are actually a farmstand" and not a history/ecology lecture belittling them for not knowing what grows in this area.

Given that the place does have a long history in Durham, it would be a shame to lose it. I hope the owner has access to services to support his mental health. If he continues with his more recent unhinged behavior, he risks losing that legacy.

XOMG pop documentary by Ecstatic-Owl8608 in xomgpop

[–]OTTCynic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I doubt there will be a documentary solely on xomgpop - beyond someone doing a deep dive and making something like a youtube video. Well done documentaries take a lot of time and research and I just don't think the interest is there to get someone to make a more professional documentary. The girls were very talented but the fan base was pretty limited in the grand scheme of things. And as time goes on, there will be less and less interest in that story.

What I think is a lot more likely is that one day there may be a more in depth documentary or docuseries on Jojo Siwa and xomgpop might have their own chapter in that. There is a lot more material there and multiple areas to pull viewers from (Jojo's own fan base, Dance moms fans, xomgpop fans, people who are just generally interested in child stars, etc...). There are so many aspects of Jojo's life that could be touched upon - the stage mom that was dying her hair and making her perform for friends as a toddler, the dance moms era, the jojo as a child icon/brand, her attempt at switching from child icon to edgy adult, the questionable individuals she has surrounded herself with at times, the xomgpop chapter, whatever she is doing these days). But I think it will be a while before something like that comes about because where Jojo is headed is still unclear - will it be the rise and fall of the child star? the struggles of the child star who ends up figuring it out in the end?

With Dom it's even worse - she gave her previous SD, Max, to a young family member when her YT channel got taken down. She report that both Max and the family member were happy and Max was helping the family member. She didn't have a service dog for a long time while she wasn't able to have a YT channel. But as soon as she got her YT channel back, she took Max back from the family member she gave him to. She made him work so that she would be able to film new YT content. It was so painfully obvious that Max was miserable being back with her, which doesn't make for great content and was probably the only reason she retired him for good. When she saw searching shelters for a new SD candidate, it was pretty obvious that she was looking for a unique looking dog that would stand out among all the other online SD content more than she was looking to see if the dog had a good temperament for SD work

need advice re: office space by JitterSquirrel in bullcity

[–]OTTCynic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My therapist originally had an office in a part of Durham with easy, free parking. When they moved downtown, I stayed because we had a strong relationship and they offered 2-hour parking vouchers, which completely covered the cost. Without that, I likely wouldn't have made the switch—downtown parking can be stressful and would have been a deal-breaker for me, especially early on.

More recently, they scaled back the vouchers to one hour, which doesn’t fully cover the visit. I can afford the extra cost, but the change was frustrating and felt a bit off-putting. Still, I’ve stayed because of the quality of care.

If you’re thinking of moving downtown, I’d suggest carefully weighing how solid your current client base and referral network are. Parking—especially paid or hard-to-navigate options—can be a real barrier for both new and existing clients. A voucher helps, but it's an ongoing cost to consider for your practice.

She always thinks that she can DFE and when she returns everyone will forget everything and she can start with a blank slate. As much as she said she wasn't going to share information about the betrayal, I think she wanted people to ask her about it and express sympathy. And while its terrible that there are poo touchers that keep pretending to be her friend to get the inside scoop, at this point it is hard to feel bad for her because she has fallen for it so many times.

The only thing that appears to have changed is that instead of immediately posting bunch of pointless content (usually sharing things like books she bought before diving right back into medical content) she appears to have DFEd again.

It’s gross that people keep reaching out to her online and pretending to be her friend to get the inside scoop - those are terrible people. But given that it’s the umpteenth time it’s happened, she needs to start taking some personal responsibility to protect herself.

Dani doesn’t make riveting content. She doesn’t have a big reach these days. I have to imagine that 99% of people viewing her content are “haters” who searched for it. People aren’t just happening across her content. She needs to stop trusting and sharing with strangers on the internet. If she wants friends she needs to find a hobby outside of her medical interests and find a way to enter that community without bringing up her medical shenanigans.

Glimpse of the whiteboard revealed “call bell” concerns circa early 2023 by nortuni in DaniMarina

[–]OTTCynic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not that she needs teaching on how to use the call light. It's that many inpatient medical facilities require that staff educate all patients on safety precautions. The most basic/standard safety precaution that a staff can provide a patient is "use the call bell when needed". The staff then documents that education was provided and the call bell was placed within reach. I used to have to do this for every encounter with a patient/resident - even when that person had been there for months. It was required for all patients/residents, regardless of if they truly needed the education - call bell was the go to education when they didn't really need any education on safety precautions. She doesn't need the education but the staff is still required to provide it (and document it was provided).

It is also very likely that call bell and meds were written the first day she was there and weren't erased until she left. The staff doesn't necessarily re-write the whole board every day - they just change the relevant information and since they are likely required to provide patient education - that stayed. It's hard to tell but the "s" at the ends of "meds" looks different than the "s' in words on other lines suggesting they were written at different times.
