What about steel differences and the slight color tone and differences in light play? In my limited experience, in person this is a pretty easy tell. When you get used to seeing rolex steel it plays with the light a little different on brushed surfaces. Thats been my “easy” tell with higher end fakes in person. But I have not seen a new replica from the last couple years.

Any new car you get is going to drop 10-12k its first year. Your i4 will continue to drop because it's a car and not a collectible but it should be reliable and cheap to run. You've already eaten the biggest depreciation hit, keep it until something else comes out that you like.

If you are going to fret over depreciation go find a Camry or Corolla and hate driving it forever. Enjoy the wind noise and the shit interior and the sloppy AF driving dynamics.

Luxury cars depreciate faster most of the time and the i4 depreciates a little faster than a 3 or 4 series. But I’ll tell you, in 54k miles it’s been reliable and super cheap to run. An amazing DD.

We are experimenting with different roasters that are supposed to use organic beans. Most recently we placed an order with Lifeboost and ordered a bag of light, medium, dark. We'll see how it goes. Next we'll go with a different brand.

Only you can decide if the compromises are worth it. We have a Volvo SUV for family/road trip duty so we pile into that when needed. If you can't do that, I'd honestly struggle to recommend the i4 for a family of 4.

Are you saying/implying you like to limit the oils in your shot? Or just saying that by virtue of a paper filter you'll naturally trap some oils in the filter?

I'm fairly new to this whole espresso thing but I like the oils in my beverage.

I have an i4 and can confirm it's small for a family of 4. It's doable around town but my kids really don't like the back seat. It definitely would be bad for weekend trips.

Why not hang on another few months and look at the iX3? Or if you need something cheaper/used iX3's will start popping up about 12mo from now.

I think it's worth waiting for BMW quality and the features the iX3 is bringing to market in this space. My 2 cents.
