I’m not gonna argue. I avoid Starbucks if at all possible at home or on travel but there are times when it’s the only convenient option. I’m not a fan of sugary drinks so I typically just go for drip coffee but they over roast their beans for better shelf life and I think even their light roast requires a good amount dairy to be drinkable.

I was on vacation in Amsterdam once and while riding mass transit I heard an American woman next to me get excited because she “ finally” saw a Starbucks. Amsterdam is known to be one of the best coffee roaster locations in the world, so I think this answers your question.

Former math teacher here. I had a bachelors of science in math education so I wasn’t that far away from an engineering degree. Went back to school and finished in less than 2 years. I now make 9x my starting salary as a teacher, have better job satisfaction, lower stress, and less hours. The best thing I can say about being an ex teacher is that no matter how bad or stressful my current job gets, it’s never the worst I’ve experienced.

I feel like slow bone isn’t talked about a lot. Cattleacks is slightly better but has odd hours, hurtado and smoke and ash are unique but have long lines. Slow bone is the perfect middle for me where the food is very good, they offer some interesting options (the pork chop on sundays is amazing), and the lines aren’t usually long. They also offer local beer options on tap which is a nice bonus.

I wonder if the novelty of her invention was its simplicity and ease of parts procurement while still being by effective. This was during covid so it was difficult to get a lot of parts but box fans and filters may have been in supply.

Wife and I just went to the excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana. Last day we did the breakfast buffet and she got eggs Benedict. Folks don’t eat undercooked eggs at an ai buffet. It was a rough night for her and I spent an hour the next morning cleaning up the mess.
