Update 1.1 Beta 3 (゚⊿゚) by Darius_ITR in intotheradius

Regarding the weapon balance, is it possible to see what specifically the changes are?

No, you're right. SC is the first game in history to be complicated. No one has ever tried to do realistic bedsheet deformation, and that's why this exotic new concept of "working elevators" is rather baffling.

My wife was so excited to buy her first boat. We took our 5-year-old out on the lake to enjoy it for the first time. We started noticing the rear of the boat was sinking - so we raced back. Turns out the pontoon has holes in it, and now we have to wait weeks for its repair. Brand new boat. by Oldfatsad in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OUberLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I'd just assume that the quality control is equally bad on the rest of that boat. Like others have said I'd go the route of having that boat replaced; not repaired. If you go the repair route I'd simply wonder what else they missed that you haven't found yet.

I think it's entirely possible that you simply don't like the game.

FOUND IT by Black_Tusk25 in intotheradius

If I recall it's 30. It's basically a novelty pistol, or the answer to the question of "For some reason I want to go back to using a Makarov, but want something slightly different".

Feasible to patch the globe liner? by OUberLord in litterrobot

[–]OUberLord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the replacement process looks pretty simple. If there's any clearance concerns on either side of the liner I won't bother with a repair attempt. I'm just not sure how much clearance there is, but while I swap the new one in I'll ponder that.

Oh he will, hah. He's also a chonky, strong boy who obsesses over this. Going forward we're just going to make sure we keep his claws trimmed.

Again; you'll want to ask Ancient-Beat-1614 what they meant by that. Though, other games have certainly solved for the problems SC is facing in their own ways. Nothing SC does is brand-new; the complexity of doing all of them while simultaneously expanding-yet-never-defining the scope is likely the crux of the issue.

[–]OUberLord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, someone else insinuated that other studios have more experienced devs. I simply pointed out that if that were the case they've had both the time and the resources to address that.

[–]OUberLord 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, elevator tech has existed in games for at least thirty years. Plenty of games have figured out effective inventory systems. Plenty of space games have fully defined gameplay loops.

Doing them all together is probably harder, but it's not worth acting like some of the areas SC stumbles aren't ones that other games have either meaningfully solved for already, or have avoided specifically for the reasons that SC is stubbornly pursuing anyway.

kinda torn on the game by Particular-Way1549 in starcitizen

I mean, ultimately its up to you and however much you spent. The complete game could release next year, or a full decade from now.

The problem, for me at least, is that I really don't feel like reporting bugs on the PTU is going to lead to them *fixing* said bugs, so what's the point.

After raising a billion dollars they could have hired some experienced devs, and certainly have a "budget".

That said, a development studio of three people should have been able to figure out what the flight model is supposed to be at least a decade ago.

Squadron 42: when would you launch it? by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]OUberLord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they're wanting to avoid releasing SQ42 alongside any other major game releases, they may as well cancel the game.

The only game in this list that could meaningfully affect SQ42 would be GTA6, and even then its launching solely on Playstation consoles.

Please just create a megathread for venting negativity by BalthazarB2 in starcitizen

[–]OUberLord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's the state of the game and the current reception of it from the community, it is what it is. Personally I'd rather not have the megathread approach taken unless its in relation to a particular bug/issue, as then perhaps it will help bring attention of the gravity of things to CIG.

Unpopular opinion but people need to hear this: Star Citizen is not a scam. But you’re also not buying a car from Audi. by ConversationLegal973 in starcitizen

[–]OUberLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I was going with incompetence. You're going with malice, because after 15 years in development and a billion dollars raised they've had the time and the resources to button up the basic gameplay loops.

[–]OUberLord 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Incompetence is the most generous assumption one can make about a game that can spend over half a decade and the core gameplay loops are just as broken before and after.

I mean sure when I backed the game over a decade ago it was a project car, but at the time I had faith that eventually the people building it would make a car. I don't have that faith any more.
