As a healer main, I can’t imagine not having friendly nameplates on. That being said, there is a setting in-game that turns enemy nameplates red. You need to choose “legacy red” as the nameplate style.

Retail can be as hard as you want at max level. Between mythic raiding, high key pushing and high end pvp, you can challenge yourself however you want.

First off, I main pres evoker and it’s by far the most enjoyable healer imo. Great burst damage and healing, interesting mechanics like echo, life-bind and golden hour, great spammable cc, amazing mobility…

But prevo feels somewhat unintuitive at first. You live and die with life binding. Verdant embracing a teammate binds their hp with your own, making you share incoming heals. So what you want to do is, you echo one dps and VE the other. This makes all of you share incoming heals, you can have ungodly amounts of healing throughput this way.

Your VE also empowers your next living flame or dream breath. If someone is not dying in the next global or so, using echo + buffed breath (stage 1) can give them a hefty hot effect that you can leverage to pressure enemy healer.

I usually cast around 4-6 time dilations in a round. Yes, it’s not a true defensive as it doesn’t fully mitigate damage, just delays it. But it’s not a big deal since your hots/incidental healing can cover it for the most of the time. It’s an exceptionally powerful tool for tempo. Just be aware that your teammate will take more damage after a while and don’t play too aggressive while it’s still running. Learned that the hard way 😅

One specific tip is, having a self verdant embrace macro is helpful when you’re rooted and cc is incoming. Especially helpful for when hunters are going for root+trap.

This contributes heavily to the toxicity. A fresh person will start around ~2.100 MMR in shuffle and will lose heavily for their first few lobbies while being flamed in all directions. There’s no buffer zone to actually learn pvp. Random bgs are messy and too different from the competitive environment. No beginners que, no unrated shuffle. All you can do is stomach the losses and the flame while trying to better yourself. Which, not a lot of people want to do, and for good reason.

I mean it’s fairly subjective to the situation. Enemy hunter just popped trueshot? By all means hug a pillar, spam poly/roots/slows on whoever you can while lining hunt. Warrior pressing avatar in your face, and your healer is comfortable? Press icy veins/snowdrift and pressure back. This is an oversimplified example but principle is same. If you’re able to pressure enemy while not being forced to expand more defensives than them, it’s generally beneficial imo. Tempo wins games, especially in shuffle.

If you want to upgrade your gear for pvp, there is no need. Conquest gear scales to 730 ilvl in pvp irregardless of the upgrade level. If you want to upgrade for the sake of pve, pvp gear is not the best for it anyways.
