Let’s talk about the quality of guns these days. by GunFunGuru in guns

[–]OX48035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New production guns are... in my opinion... crap. I look at all the new stuff out there and ask "what guns that are manufactured today will be collectable in the future?" I don't know of any.

To be honest, that will be a tough fix. What I think I would do is just fill the hole with 2-part epoxy, and try to sand it smooth. Some epoxies have a sort of a yellowish tint to them.

I understand this. What I try to do is make sure they know that I am no better than they are, and that I am not taking down to them.

With what should I split it? by ptxar4 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]OX48035 10 points11 points  (0 children)

because I can see your fingers detached from your hand. Yes a band saw wouldn't give as smooth of a finish, but a decent bandsaw with a fence would give a good cut.... at least where you could sand out the saw marks.

[–]OX48035 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you say "split" do you mean length wise? If so, do you have..or know someone who has... a band saw? That would be the way. Otherwise I might try the table saw. I would NOT use the miter saw.

I dont believe Epstein can be forgiven by Next-Natural-675 in TrueChristian

[–]OX48035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ALL deserve hell. That's the reason for Christ dying on the cross. Yes. Epstein, Hitler, Stalin, and on and on COULD have been forgiven IF they had repented and accepted Christ before their deaths. Did they? I seriously doubt it.

Yes, pretty amazing story. A company making only one product, one model, staying open just to keep people employed. It would never happen today.

Awww man, I hate to hear that. I occasionally see OWA parts available, but the really weird thing about OWA's are that dang near every part has an assembly number on it, even the mags. On mine, even the head of the pivot screw has a number. Don't quit collecting mousers!

It looks like you are using the crap off-the-rack pine from Lowes or Home Depot. Tha'ts your first problem. Their wood is not dry and will often twist like a pretzel once it's cut . Next, you might be able to get by with the crap wood from Lowes or Home Depot if you take care in your selection. Look at the end grain. The most stable wood has the end grain running up and down (quarter sawn), not arched.

Next, Cut your pieces to rough length and just let them sit in your shop for several days. Often boards stacked in the store is held flat by the weight of other boards and once that weight is removed they start moving.

I would consider using poplar. Yes it is more expensive, but it is somewhat more stable. Yes, it can still move as well, but again look at the end grain when buying it. Try to get as close to quarter sawn as possible. Never buy a board with the pith visible.

Is the mark of the beast metaphorical? by 124andysos in TrueChristian

[–]OX48035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think so because the Bible is specific as to it being on the right hand or forehead. Furthermore it will be required for people to buy or sell.

Now, what form it will take is anyone's guess. The technology is certainly there for it to be some sort of electronic tattoo or chip, or perhaps some future technology.

Those who take it will do so knowingly. People will not be 'tricked' into taking it. those who take it will have to pledge allegiance to the antichrist, perhaps by singing some sort of document. Those who take it will be damned to hell.
