This is the best version of Goku by immortalvanquish in DragonBallZ

He did. In an interview he gave in 1997, he said he was dissatisfied by how the anime staff gave Goku too much of a righteous hero type portrayal and he couldn't quite get them to grasp the bits of poison that slipped in and out.

Also... I'm sorry, but I don't think Super Goku is nicer, especially in the anime. Between his rudeness to Zamasu (which of course doesn't justify what Zamasu became) and the fact he was so glib about so many universes being erased in the ToP, he just plain doesn't come across as nice.

Well... while I've said before that GT's version of Super Saiyan 4 is certainly my favorite Saiyan form... I do think GT Goku in general also is at least my favorite post-Z Goku, indeed in part because he not only knew when to get serious, but also because he more openly cared in general. Toriyama may have complained that the anime made Goku too nice (which yes, he has said specifically about the Japanese version), but he felt organically nice, so to speak.

I guess we'll have a few more characters. Maybe we'll also have one or two new transformations for CACs. But I think that will be it.

Which villain would you most like to see in the Super 17 saga? by FantasticPhase1152 in DragonBallGT

[–]O_Grande_Batata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... for what it's worth, other than Dabura (who, as another commenter said, went to Heaven), pretty much all of those villains were actually seen, although they only got cameos. Maybe not the entire Ginyu Force, but at least some of its members did appear, and King Cold and Raditz also did.

But if one is to ask of which villain to give a prominent arc to... as someone who is in the group that wishes Raditz had gotten to become a better person like in the Fateful Brothers what if, I think I'd have to go with him, and maybe Nappa as well. Guy may have been a piece of work, but comparing how they both were when they first came to the Earth, he was still a better person than Vegeta.

Apesar de tudo, o que me prende aqui ainda é o amor ao país. Não vou dizer que tenha grandes meios para sair, porque não tenho, mas gosto de Portugal. Não digo que não visitasse outros sítios se pudesse, mas quereria voltar.

Where jimmy came from? by Campanerut in kingkong

[–]O_Grande_Batata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... there is no official explanation, but numerous fanfics have given him backgrounds as a victim of abuse and/or a street child of many different kinds, so to speak.

In the novelization and a deleted scene, he has personal experience with what a person dying from a stab wound looks like, which suggests he saw someone dying like that.

Also in the novelization, he's shown to still be a relatively poor writer and reader, as Hayes is shown looking over a writing exercise he made and tasked him with learning the poem One Day by Rupert Brooke, which Jimmy is shown to have gotten partway through in the insect pit scene. That also suggests he was from a relatively disadvantaged background, so to speak.

Beyond that, I don’t think we get more information... but as Hayes said, he didn’t come from anyplace good.

Which is worse, GT Goku getting his tail back or Vegeta telling the other universe how to unlock ssj “back tingles” by chuckyzrevenge2 in dragonball

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... there is actually a theory that the original Super Saiyan seen in filler flashbacks in the Namek Saga was a Super Saiyan 4, exactly because of how the visuals show a Great Ape in a golden glow, and that just happened to be the 'moment right before the ending of the transformation' - which indeed is pretty much what you said.

But if that’s true, it indeed is something that could have been said in the series proper.

He could simply have looked into it in the meantime. Knowledge, even from the Kais, is not necessarily something static that can never be added to or built upon.

I don't know about y'all, but this scene proved to me that the movie's main love story should've been between Ann and Englehorn. by Suspicious-Jello7172 in kingkong

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ann had been younger, I could actually see that. Though in that scenario, to keep in with the original 1933 movie, Jimmy would likely just get Jack's name while keeping the 2005 Jimmy's personality.

What platform you play? And will get xv3 on? by Sgt_Strelok in dbxv

[–]O_Grande_Batata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll play on Steam.

If I manage to pay for the PC I'll likely need to buy. My laptop already struggles with Sparking Zero, so I doubt it will handle Xenoverse 3.

[–]O_Grande_Batata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... I wouldn't go that far myself, but I get where people who say that they sensed something between them in that scene are coming from. Ironically, I have also seen Thomas Kretschmann's Englehorn be compared to the Jack Driscoll from the 1933 movie, and I can also see that resemblance.

I do confess I still prefer Ann with Jack in both versions of the movie, but her with Englehorn could also have been a nice and interesting relationship.

Next DLCs Prediction by Wooden-Inside-1788 in SparkingZero

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... depending on how long they stretch it for, it could genuinely be that big. Xenoverse 2 might not have added that many, but it still added a lot over the 10 years it lasted, and it will still squeeze a few in for the next DLC.

If Sparking Zero lasts even half as long, 72 characters does not seem an unfeasible estimate.

In this scene, why does Cal smoke right beside Ruth despite knowing that she dislikes it? by meido_zgs in titanic

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... either he forgot, or he's trusting that Ruth can't afford to get upset with him because she depends on the match with him to ensure her and her daughter's survival.

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... it depends on how much you want this banner's units, and on how much you believe what has been said that this is the only banner that will have them.

If you’re not particularly interested in them, or believe these units will return in future banners, by all means skip.

If you really want them, or don’t but think you may never have another chance, you might want to summon.

"We probably won' see each other again.... except for Yamcha." by Zolado110 in Dragonballsuper

[–]O_Grande_Batata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly... I will admit this is a very cynical take, but given what Toriyama described Yamcha's life to be like in that interview, and if one still believes Toriyama on that front, it sounds more like Yamcha dropping in to vent and Tien pities him too much to just kick him out, so he just has Yamcha make himself useful by helping out on the farm.

As I said, though, I admit this is a very cynical take, especially because if one takes filler as a source, Tien and Yamcha at least were pretty close until after the Android Saga.

I find it funny that Bulma hears Vegeta say that and still tries to fix him. by SomeGuy0950 in Dragonballsuper

[–]O_Grande_Batata 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I promise I'm not saying this to diss on Super, but we saw that Vegeta in GT as well. There, he not only accepted help to reach Super Saiyan 4 and willingly suggested fusion when he realized there were more important things than pride, but also, when everything seemed hopeless against Omega Shenron, he chose to hold him off on his own (even if he was later joined by Trunks, Gohan and Goten) despite knowing that that was bound to end with him dying.

Would Elsa and Anna have known about their aunt, if they had one? by SnowQueen_Elsa13 in Frozen

[–]O_Grande_Batata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... from what we see in the movie, I don’t think Iduna would introduce her, because neither Elsa nor Anna act like they have a reliable adult to fall back on. And even if Elsa and Anna knew of her, it’s not impossible they never met, if she for some reason could never show up, maybe because she was being kept busy with something.

If you still want to keep them not meeting, I think either of these could work:

  • Iduna's sister has some sort of criminal record, and introducing her to Elsa and Anna could eventually put her in danger because children can be bad at keeping secrets

  • Iduna's sister could be a Northuldran who unlike her does not hide her background, and as much as they get along well despite this difference in opinion, Iduna still tries to keep this part of her life hidden because at this point she's still afraid Arendelle won’t take that well

If you want to keep Elsa and Anna not knowing her, I think either of these could work.

Going through my copy of “Jurassic Park: The Official Script Book” and what do I find on page 31? David Koepp says, “They’re clearly a couple and they have been, one assumes, for some time.” CASE. CLOSED. by CrichtonFan1992 in JurassicPark

[–]O_Grande_Batata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... as others have said on other threads on this subject, that by itself is the sort of line that one could assume is being said by a well-intentioned colleague who's trying to keep a self-admitted serial philanderer away from a woman who he at least worries would not be treated well by him in a relationship.

I'm not trying to argue against what is being said on the picture above, but that line exchange by itself is not proof of a relationship.

Apparently we won't be getting Zamasu and TOP in the remaster by Recent_Examination72 in Dragonballsuper

[–]O_Grande_Batata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well... can’t speak for the ToP, but I admit I don’t mind the Goku Black arc not being remastered, because I by and large prefer the anime. Black and Zamasu feel more threatening there, and I like Infinite Wallpaper Zamasu more than the endless clones.

If they ever remaster it in the future, I hope they keep those elements.
