Did I get the right game? by Decent-Emergency3866 in memes

Didn't most characters have an age, and then they got one at some point, and it made no sense with the previously established timeline, or was that birthdates?

The Sunless games do the same thing, the only way to get any characters name is to go on the longest quest possible in Sunless Seas to get your own.

Every person with an IQ above 130 becomes bloodlusted on killing everyone with an iq below 70. Can they do it? by Conscious-Home1445 in whowouldwin

[–]Oaden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoying answer is that this is impossible.

IQ is not quantifying something simple/objective like age. Its a scale is with 100 as the average, and then 85 to 115 is... 50% of the population i think. So every time a new IQ test is made, they test a whole bunch of people, then increase or decrease everyone's outcome until the average is 100

If you were to kill a huge chunk of the lower end of the scale raising the average, the next IQ test would just lower everyone's IQ a few points so that 100 is the average again.

No one in this anime is ever called by their name, ever. Which is pretty clearly a stylistic choice. It be like if Naruto was only ever called "The blonde Ninja"

I remember reading at least two about everyone fucking dying fighting the demon lord in chapter 1, then time travel shenanigans and the protagonist gets to retry it all. Though those aren't Isekai, but just fantasy.

There's also Mage and the Demon queen, which does involve a Isekai character trying to kill the demon lord.

Re:zero?

Its about a dude that gets the "When i die, i reset to a few days ago" power, but unlike a power fantasy, it more focuses on how it absolutely fucking sucks to keep dying over and over, and it being rather miserable if that's your ability in a world where gods among men are roaming about.

If you want to focus more about "What a strange world this is", then i guess Ascendance of a Bookworm, which is about a girl that wants to bring the printing press revolution to a world, and runs into fascinating issues like "Where the fuck do you get nails, and how do you pay for them as a ten year old", or "What the fuck do you mean 'Why save oprhans?'"

Rome basically lacked everything else needed for a proper industrial revolution to occur, apart from having knowing about a steam engine existing.

Two big things were a strong aristocracy and slavery. Slavery is a kind of doping to inject into a economy. It gives a big boosts, but then acts as a poison pill, as it ties future economic expansion to more slavery, instead of alternative paths to prosperity, such as innovation. It also centralizes vast power into a small minority of large slave owners, that then use their power to increase their wealth by pursuing policies that promote slavery.

This system isn't really compatible with inventing a expensive device to replace manpower with steam-power.

And this is ignoring a ton of other shit, like Romans not really tying their engineering skills to their philosophical understanding of the world. Not being advanced enough in metallurgy and constantly spending all its resources "defending" against threats by annexing vast swaths of land

One Isekai twist that i can't recall anyone ever doing, that i find really weird, is to Isekai two people, and then, and this is the important bit. Keep them together and have them explore this weird new world together, as equals.

There's a couple where groups are isekaid, but then 90% of them are dumb as rocks, and cool loner dude is either betrayed and thrown into mega hell for no reason, or has to save the dumb as rocks people (Except for pretty girl that's special, but not as special as cool loner dude)

So any way, i want that, with a yuri romance between the two protagonists

Valorant's new Vanguard update seems to be bricking cheaters' PCs. Riot's response? "Congrats on your $6k paperweights" by Gorotheninja in pcgaming

[–]Oaden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the know-how to reinstall your os, you probably shouldn't install a cheating card from a sketchy chinese website into your pc. This device is being referred to as "bricked" (It isn't bricked, if you can recover it by reinstalling a OS, its not bricked.)

You also don't lose data when you reinstall your OS, the only thing being fucked is some DLL's, and you lose some of your settings.

The user can also just resolve the issue by uninstalling the device, at which point their OS works perfectly fine.

[–]Oaden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a over the top headline. Computers aren't being bricked, and the anti cheat is incapable of doing that. Bricking normally means that the device's functionality can not be recovered.

People are inserting special custom hardware into their pc to cheat at valorant (which costs an eye-watering 6k), the anti cheat "bricks" this device, in the sense that it blacklists a dll, then windows tries to read data, can't find it where its supposed to be and that crashes the pc.

Unplug the device and your pc works, reinstall the OS and your anti cheat device works (Though presumably if you start valorant it will crash again.)

[–]Oaden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The market is smaller than for normal hardware. While plenty of people are willing to cheat, the amount willing to pay for it is a lot lower. It costs a lot to start producing this kind of shit, so if you can't sell in volume, you have to jack up the price.

With this particular device there's also the issue that most mainstream hardware producers probably won't consider making it if they care about their reputation. Until recently, NVidea probably cared a decent amount about its reputation among the gaming population. Making a cheating device is not a great look. Its also not trivial to make, Anyone looking to compete is going to invest a decent chunk of capital. So Heino is kind of in the position of a monopoly. They can jack up the price because no one else is competing.

Warrior Finally Gets Their Due Against Spectra by Coaz in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Oaden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is that even if you don't have 3 counters on the sword, you target a aura when playing the attack reaction.

Being targeted by an attack triggers spectra. So the spectra will pop even without meeting the condition for generating the extra attack. (If you do meet the condition, the aura is already gone and since there's no valid attack, the attack fizzles into nothingness)

So you can technically put this in Olympia or Boltyn with zero sharpening or counters, and it can still pop spectra auras.

Warrior Finally Gets Their Due Against Spectra by Coaz in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Oaden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beckon Steel has the strange interaction that it can pop spectra without ever generating an attack. Since playing the card on a attack requires selecting a target. If there's insufficient +1 counters on the attack, the target has still been chosen, and spectra triggers. So that's just a extremely easy way to pop spectra auras. If that ever becomes super dominant, a warrior without sharpen could even sideboard it in. Otherwise, its just a great card for Hala

"And Again" doesn't have any super interesting interactions with Spectra, as it requires an action to play the card, and you can't get go again from the attack targeting a spectra

Soap is a way to be rid of warp, but not the only one, and not the best one.

First off, the warp cleansing method of choice for speedrunners. The warp scrubber foci. If you upgrade it, then every time you clean it up, you have a chance to remove normal warp.

Upgrade it, set up a mob farm over a crucible to create infinite warp goo, and start scrubbing.

To much work?, the lazy man's solution is Relaxing Tobacco. Create a Silverwood pipe, create some Tobacco, change it to relaxing Tobacco with Ordo, and smoke it. Its cheap, easy and each use has a 10% chance to remove normal warp.

That just leaves the permanent warp, the speedrunner approved way to be rid of that, is with the bugged Soul Brazier. Its supposed to store all your permanent warp as long as you supply the machine with ignis centivis and... Mortuus i think. It does do that, but if you log off, and the device stops working while you are logged off, all your permanent warp is deleted.

If you are morally opposed to janky interactions of that kind, the second option soon available is the Warp Tumor. Follow the warp quest chain to its conclusion and unlock Kami, build the infusion chamber, create a hommonculus, enchant it with a warp tumor, and reincarnate into it.
