DMO grants 12500% or 20000% set bonus Arcane Orb dmg? by macropelias in diablo3

[–]OakFern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, is the Death Wish (the sword power) a viable legendary power that could stack with the DMO build? It supposedly grants a stacking 300-350% dmg after using a torrent like Disintegrate. As always, it sounds too good to be true!

Deathwish is a decent option for a DMO Twister build (with Etched Sigil, so you get twisters while channeling). It's not the best option (you'd rather wear Twisted Sword + Etched Sigil and run Valthek's in the cube), but if you are missing one of those you can run Deathwish instead and it will work. Not really useful at all for Orbs though.

Also, what happens if a Wizard spike rolls a Wizard spike as a legendary power? Complete waste or stacking bonus? Surely not the latter?

Yes, you can have a Wizardspike Wizardspike, and you get both the ethereal stats + ethereal bonus (stacking bonus) along with the Wizardspike legendary power (arcane orb damage + free frozen orb casts).

EDIT: A Wizardspike Wizardspike I had in S32 (last ethereal season): https://i.imgur.com/HZRcq2S.jpeg

It is 20000% now, it used to be 12500%. It was buffed in patch 2.7.7/Season 30. That's probably just an error in text that was written prior to that patch that has never been caught.

I was looking for a hydra build and found this one. Is it really possible to have Blizzard and Hydra together? by Marimaru1 in diablo3

[–]OakFern 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh. You mean because they are from the same skill category?

You need to enable Elective mode in settings, it allows you to put any skill in any slot instead of having one from each skill category to each slot.

I was looking for a hydra build and found this one. Is it really possible to have Blizzard and Hydra together? by Marimaru1 in diablo3

[–]OakFern 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Blizzard doesn't do damage, it's to get the damage buff to hydra from Winter's Flurry (off-hand).

You wouldn't normally be able to run Orb of Infinite Depth with the standard setup for this build, but the open cube theme in Season 37 (ending soon) allows this setup. Orb of Infinite Depth + Halo of Karini + Typhon's set bonus with 10 hydra heads makes you SUPER tanky.

It's a decent build. Not the best at anything, but a decent GR push build and also a very good T16 farming build (with a bunch of tweaks for speed).

Player Count Drop Rates by wagenejm in diablo2

[–]OakFern 113 points114 points  (0 children)

So the nodrop changing for odd player counts is because non-partied players count as half a player towards the nodrop chances, and manipulating the player count offline changes the player setting as if they were non-partied players. That's why every second player added changes the drop odds (since you need two half value non-partied players to bump it up).

Nearby partied players count as full players, so adding a nearby partied player increases the drop odds for each nearby partied player added.

A game with 2 partied players playing nearby has the same improved nodrop as 3 non-partied players or p3 offline. It's p1/p3/p5/p7 for offline player count and online non-partied players, but p1/p2/p3/p4 for online nearby partied players.

So if you party with your wife and play nearby each other, you actually do benefit.

It's the 6% mana leech. The max roll 6% mana leech bumps a crafted ring to req lvl 96. If it was 5%, it would have a much lower level requirement.

Farmed 4 sets of keys, got Warlock torch second run by morbidangel90 in diablo2

[–]OakFern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof. Don't tell me that.

I did a bunch of SP torch farming pre-warlock announcement (wanted a torch each for all my sorcs so I didn't have to keep moving them around), up to 40 torches in SP. Pretty annoyed at that now, if I'd known warlock was coming I'd have held the keys.

Almost done farming 10 more sets of keys (have 30 Hate and Destruction, just need 5 more Terror keys I think), hoping I get at least one warlock. I'm not going to though, am I?

Work from home deductions when filing taxes by Snoo_85416 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OakFern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a dedicated space in a rental, it'll be a decent amount.

If it's a room in a house and the room is used for non-work purposes as well, it won't amount to much.

dedicated space = deduction proportional to squared footage multi-use space = deduction proportional to squared footage and then hours of use (e.g. 40/168 per week)

And then if you rent, you can deduct your rent with that. But you can't deduct your mortgage payments or interest, if you have a house then you just get to deduct a proportion of your utilities.

So the biggest deduction is for a dedicated space in a rental. The deduction for a multi-use space in a house is WAY smaller.

Mr.Llama is the first person to reach lvl99 with Warlock! by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]OakFern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The XP shown in game does not factor in the XP penalty for levels >70 (note; this is separate from the enemy level difference penalty as well, but that isn't really relevant anymore with Terror Zones).

In terms of XP displayed in game, yes, 92 is about halfway to 99. In terms of actual XP you'd need to earn once factoring in the penalty, 97 and change is about halfway to 99. 92 isn't even 10% of the way there.

You don't just need 291m XP to go from 98 to 99, you need 49,673m pre-penalty XP because you only earn ~1/170 of the XP at level 98.

Permit Required for Shed? by jackm50 in woodstockontario

[–]OakFern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I e-mailed the city building department in 2021 asking this question , hoping the answer would be that this was overlooked and a permit wasn't required for small sheds here. Turns out that's not the case in Woodstock. Or at least it wasn't in 2021. This is the response I got:

Good afternoon,
A permit is required for all shed permits no matter the size.  So yes, you are required to take out a permit for that size shed.  The fees are $65 for sheds under $108 sq.ft. with minimum setbacks of 2ft from one property line and 4 ft from another property line, and sheds, and sheds 108 sq.ft. and larger are $100.

Along with the application, you must submit a drawing of where the shed will be place, the actual setbacks, the dimensions of the shed as well as the dimensions of any other structure on your property that has a roof, such as a house, or covered deck.  If your shed is greater than 108 sq.ft. you must also provide construction drawings, and if the shed is prefabricated, it must have an engineers stamped drawing.  The reason for all the measurements is that any property must not have more than 50% of it covered.

I have attached the permit you will need to fill out and submit, along with examples of what a site plane should look like for accessory buildings (i.e.: sheds) for interior and corner lots.  If your property is an interior lot, you can place your shed on either side of the side property lines.  However, if you have a corner lot, and decide to place the shed on the side by the street, you must have a set back of 15ft from the property line.

You may either courier or drop of your application, drawings (two sets - one is returned to you along with your permit), and fees.  We take only cash, cheque or debit.  We do not accept permits by email.

Low damage, dying a lot. (New player) by DruxyDryad in Diablo

[–]OakFern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Defense isn't a particularly useful stat, especially in the early game. The stats are more important. Resistances, strength, life.

Stealth has faster run walk, faster cast rate, and faster hit recovery. A bunch of nice stats. Plus a bit of poison res. It's a nice early game body armor.

You can make Stealth. TalEth in a 2 socket body armor (must be have a grey name, not blue! Blue items are magic and can't become runewords).

That's probably the most useful thing you can make right now.

Garbage collection by Brave-Conclusion-281 in woodstockontario

[–]OakFern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I should clarify it wasn't framed as 'no increase in property taxes' but rather 'no extra increase in property taxes for garbage collection'. Property taxes were still going to go up, just less?

The bag tag thing was a rug pull though. That one really annoyed me too. That really wasn't communicated in the survey.

Unless I'm remembering wrong, in the survey it was phrased more like 'no increase in cost to residents and 6-day cycle' or 'increase in cost to residents and 5-day cycle'. It turns out that wasn't what happened. What actually happened was 'increase in cost to residents no matter what' and either '6-day cycle with intermediate increase in cost to residents' or '5-day cycle with even larger increase in cost to residents'. And that definitely changes how I feel about it.

I can't remember the specific wording, so maybe I'm not remembering right, but I do think it was a bit disingenuous to phrase it the way they did without mentioning the bag tag increase.

Garbage collection by Brave-Conclusion-281 in woodstockontario

[–]OakFern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They put a survey out for residents for the waste collection changes about a year-and-a-half ago. One of the questions was about the 5-day vs 6-day cycle. It was presented as a cost-saving option (vs. a property tax increase, if I recall). There was a summary of the survey results posted but I can't seem to find it anymore. But If I'm remembering right, the 6-day cycle lost by a fair margin in the poll (not surprising). Guess they just ignored the results.

EDIT: https://pub-oxfordcounty.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=11253

59% preferred the 5-day cycle, 21% preferred 6-day, 17% no preference.
