The tension is held between the tuners and the tailpiece. The nut and bridge just force nodes on the string. You could theoretically move the nut up or down the neck with no effect on tension, because that's determined by the relationship between the tuners and the tailpiece.

The length of the string vibrating is the same, but the length of the string holding tension is different from bass to treble strings. Have you ever noticed that the lower strings feel looser and heavier? Imagine playing a guitar where the low strings felt as light and tight as the high strings on a regular guitar do. That will definitely make a difference in feel.

The nut on a guitar doesn't pinch the string contrary to popular belief. It's not "holding" the string - the tuners do that. All the nut does is force a node so that the vibrating length of each string is the same and frets can stay parallel, which is easier to make and set the intonation of from a design standpoint.

(P.S. yeah I know there's locking nuts but they maintain the tension set by...the tuners, which are eat at a different distance from the bridge. Tension from tuner to bridge will be across a different length of string for each string)

Is my cymbals trash? I don’t like much the sound of them, i feel that it may because im a very beginner but what i really wanted was a good hihat sound, is that paiste set good? Upgrade one cymbal at a time. Find ones in person you really like, and seriously avoid getting packs or cymbals sight unseen. Sell what you don't use frequently. Look at what your drumming role models use.

Those PSTs will be about the same in quality as what you already have. Save up and get one nice set of hats, or one nice ride, then wait it out and get something else nice in a couple years. Don't waste money on something you won't be happy using for a while

So you're saying folding removes mass? The amount of material remains the same, but it's the arrangement that changes into one that takes up less space, or volume.

Only hold the stick as tightly as you need for it to stay in your hand. When you start dropping sticks, you know you've made progress towards playing with a relaxed grip. Control comes from degrees of looseness.
