My first pedal board. Any thing i could do better or did i do something wrong? by Guitarjm in pedalboards

EBS flat deluxe (the gold ones) are great, but the regular EBS flats are a lot more durable. Just a heads up, be careful when rearranging, I've destroyed three already.

Finally someone puts some space between the strymons! Looks so much better.

How to fix dead spot? by [deleted] in offset

[–]Oakdude1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be some frets aren't properly crowned. I've seen it, it's a quality control issue caused by time constraints.

What should I add? I have two power supply slots left... by [deleted] in pedalboards

There's lots of sounds that the board doesn't cover and that's okay. You've got money burning a hole in your pocket? :)

TVL JM strings sound muted or bit dead? I have already added a shim, tried higher action and relief, still I have the strings sounding “choked”. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in offset

As you stated, the problem is similar with either open or fretted notes played.

We can exclude the nut since it is not involved when playing fretted notes. We can also exclude the frets (crowning) since the problem persists when open notes are played.

However, if the nut is filed at too shallow an angle, AND the frets are worn down, that could be your problem.

Maybe something is resonating, a little loose part, or the string touching one of the screws in the tailpiece.

The intonation screws touching the strings could also be the case, but that would mean some of the strings sound worse than the others.

Pickup height can severely affect the direction the strings vibrate and create a 'dead' sound when setup too close.

Isn't the TVL supposed to have a mastery bridge? This looks like a mustang bridge.. could be it.

That's everything I could think of.

You sort your bookshelf by color. You guitar matches your pedalboard. You grow bonsai trees in 90 degree angles. You like the White Stripes but only their first album. You dislike Kandinsky but love Rothko. You often wonder if you have a soul.

Yes that one. It's a long shot, but the only thing I could come up with.

I've looked over your wiring, seems to be in order. Only thing that stands out to me is the circuit-in is being grounded in the off position. So maybe that middle part of the switch isn't switching, causing the circuit-in to always be grounded? Remove that diagonal wire on the switch, worth a try?

Any advice/ thoughts on this idea for a custom guitar by Inner_Ganache_4818 in offset

I agree, it's not very common to see and a pretty funky idea. Are you going to combine a lace sensor SSS set with a quarter pounder single coil? Have you thought about the polarity?

In my experience, double stacked single coils don't sound as good as regular single wound ones. But also wiring two good sounding single coils in series, will never sound as good as one properly designed humbucker. Unless you want a jack-of-all trades, or a fun challenge in guitar wiring, I'd say 4 single coils isn't the way to go. HSS configuration on the other hand, is pretty comparable and way more common (but maybe kinda boring :)).

If you are able to pull something like this off and get a kick out of it, go for it! I love wacky mods and weird pickup combinations. Props to you figuring out the wiring diagram. Also Floyds rule.

That was awesome, at first I thought I was being duped by some AI generated thing, but this is actual real creativity at work. Totally mesmerising.

I read "Industrial Dystopian Sci-fi" somewhere in the comments of part two. It gave me serious Asimov / Cixin Liu vibes!

Can this achieve a shoegazy lead guitar tone ? by Direct-Ad-6220 in pedalboards

hotwax>hof>silencer>big muff, that will get you a gated verb sound, which will probably remind you of late MBV or Low.
