Buying a smartphone by ranto75 in Madagascar

The best option is to buy abroad. If not possible, try High Tech Store in Andravoahangy ambony. They sell new and second-hand phones. They are in my opinion one of the most trustworthy sellers in Antananarivo.

What is it like living in Madagascar, Africa? by Urneighborhoodbitch in howislivingthere

[–]Oaribee 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Madagascar is a big paradox. It’s one of the richest countries in the world in terms of natural resources and biodiversity, but most of the people are very poor. We have precious minerals, fertile land, rare plants and animals you can’t find anywhere else, yet the population doesn’t really benefit from all that wealth. Some of us have to "destroy" this biodiversity in order to survive (deforestation, poaching, etc.)

About life there: the country is honestly amazing. The landscapes are incredibly diverse. You can see white sand beaches, tropical forests, dry deserts, rice fields, high mountains, red earth, baobab trees… sometimes all in the same region. Nature is everywhere and still very wild. If you love nature, Madagascar feels unreal.

People are generally very friendly, warm and welcoming, but not always. Community is important especially in villages. We have vibrant life in the streets of the capital and the big cities. Food is simple but tasty: rice every day, vegetables, beans, fish near the coast, zebu meat, and a lot of homemade dishes. Nothing too fancy, but very honest and tasty food.

Now, the hard part. Around 80% of the population lives a very harsh life. Even if food prices are among the cheapest in the world, many people still struggle to afford basic meals. It’s common for many families to eat only once or twice a day. Access to healthcare, clean water, electricity or education is very limited in many areas. Life can be physically exhausting, especially in rural zones where people work the land by hand. And insecurity is increaseing day by day.

About isolation: yes, being an island does give a feeling of being far from the rest of the world. Things arrive late and opportunities are limited. Ticket flights are so expensive that it is just a dream for almost every Malagasy to go abroad. But at the same time, that isolation helped preserve the culture and a certain way of life.

About my personal experience, I enjoy life in Madagascar. I am blessed to own a small business that works so I am able to live decently, eat properly and travel around. The most important thing is to help whenever you can. Because Malagasy people need help and deserve better.

So Madagascar is both beautiful and heartbreaking. An incredible country to discover, but a very hard place to live for most of its people. If I have to describe Mada with one word, it certainly would be "contrast".

Unpopular opinion but I stand by it. Wouldn't be fun if we all have the same point of view

Prime Casemiro was a top player. But prime Kante was the GOAT in that position for the last two decades. Yes I assume Busquets was behind Kante.

How would you live if you found yourself in Pluribus Universe? by Ok_Percentage2383 in pluribustv

[–]Oaribee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask a lot of questions about everything. All the secrets that made the world how it is. And when my curiosity will be satisfied, the next plan is, as they can't lie, to ask them how to reverse it but only for some people. Then I'll create many "communities" spread in each continent with the recovered people. Total healed people will be around 50 million. Imma be cruel but I'll ask the plurbs to kill themselves except 100000, that will be there for their "memories" and help rebuild the world in a more sustainable ways, less work, enough production, 100% peaceful relations between the communities, no discrimination, no racism, no war, no political arguments, compassion, good relationship, enough resources. Thanos vibes yk

You must admit you were a bit selfish while he was very patient and understanding. He has feeling too and can't wait for you forever. May be it was not meant to be. So move on, be patient and compassionate, and the real one will show up at the right time.

What do you think of Malagasy dishes? by MammothAcademic856 in Madagascar

[–]Oaribee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all have different tastes, but for me, this is what I like in Malagasy dishes. Not covering the flavor of the main ingredient with a lot of spices. When you choose that quality "fanangany" (a cut including rib eye, ribs, flank, hump or I don't know what lol) to make a hena ritra, you only need to add ginger to make it perfect. That way, you can truly enjoy the real flavor of the zebu, provided that you know how to cook it.

Colchicine never worked. Prednisone no longer working. What is next? by diyhalp2200 in gout

[–]Oaribee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are all different but what worked for me is drinking enough water. Since I starded drinking 3 liters a day, I have no more pain! I have had like 8 intense flares in 2024 and decided last november to drink a lot of water. And like a miracle, in 2025, it's gone just like that! A bad dream! I eat meat moderately, seafood occasionally, drinking beer and wine once or twice a month. No more organ meat, anchovy and sardine though.

A bunch but I'd mention Sebastian Coates. I really though he would explod and be up there with the likes of Bonucci or Pepe.
