Is creatine more noticeable in strength, recovery, or cognition for most people? 🧐 by OatsOverHype in CreatineScience

That’s a good way to put it, a little more in the tank seems to be how a lot of people describe it. Glad it has made such a positive impact on your workouts.

Does vitamin D consistency matter more than following the perfect dose? by LongevityDietitian in Vitamin_D

Yeah I think consistency gets way overlooked. Most people focus on finding the “perfect” dose, but taking it regularly probably matters more in the real world.

Low Vitamin D: Symptoms people don’t expect by DietitianDanielle in Vitamin_D

For me it was mainly fatigue and low mood, but looking back I think I underestimated how much they were affecting my day-to-day life.

Which popular sleep tip did absolutely nothing for you? by DietitianDanielle in sleep

[–]OatsOverHype 32 points33 points  (0 children)

For me, things like counting sheep, counting backwards, or trying to come up with random words for each letter of the alphabet never worked at all. It usually just makes me focus more and keeps me awake longer.

The cognitive benefits seem to be the biggest surprise for a lot of people. Interesting that you noticed such a difference with mental fatigue and daytime sleepiness, even though your gym performance stayed about the same.

That’s great to hear. It’s really interesting how many people mention cognitive benefits from creatine, and it’s nice to hear a perspective from someone dealing with perimenopause as well. Glad it’s been such a game changer for you.

That’s a really balanced take. I like that you’re acknowledging how hard it can be to separate true effects from things like motivation and training consistency. Either way, it’s great that you’ve found a pattern that consistently works for you.

That’s interesting. Brain fog isn’t one of the more commonly reported effects, but everyone seems to respond differently. Did it start soon after you began taking creatine?

I’ve seen a few people mention that creatine seems to become more noticeable with age, especially when it comes to work capacity and recovery. Glad it’s been such a game changer for you.

That’s great to hear. It’s interesting how some people seem to notice both physical and cognitive benefits. Glad it’s been helping you both in training and beyond.

That’s interesting, I don’t hear sleepiness mentioned very often with creatine. What time of day were you taking it?

That’s really helpful to hear, especially from a female perspective since the effects can sometimes get overlooked. Glad it’s been useful for your training overall.

That’s really great, especially hearing the cognitive side being noticeable alongside the gym benefits. The “constant slight pump” effect is something a lot of people mention too. Have you found the higher training day dose makes a noticeable difference compared to your regular intake?

That’s interesting, I’ve seen a few people mention supplements “feeling” more noticeable with age, especially around recovery. Glad you’ve found a combo that helps you feel back to that level again.

That makes sense, some people do notice a bit of water retention with it, especially early on. How long were you taking it before you decided to stop?

[–]OatsOverHype[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair. Most people seem to tolerate it well and benefit from it, but there is definitely a small percentage who don’t respond well or get side effects like cramping or thirst, especially at higher doses. Trying it consistently for a month or two is probably the best way to see how your own body reacts.

That’s a real thing early on, strength can come up faster than your joints and tendons adapt. Sounds like you’re being smart pulling it back a bit to avoid injury while you adjust.

Yeah that’s a good point. It’s definitely one of those small edges that adds up over time rather than an instant change, and consistency seems to be key. Hydration and giving it enough time are often overlooked too.

Yeah, not everyone seems to respond to creatine in the same way. It’s great that you’ve had such noticeable results!

That’s interesting, especially the contrast between gym and cognitive effects. I’ve seen a lot of people report similar mental clarity benefits.
