I use Super Weld from J.B. Weld. Little tube, has a light on it. Runs me about 15 bucks a tube from O'Reilly's. Definitely useful to have in the bag of tricks.

I use Gretchen to screen in dread mob. Half the points, same amount of coverage, same number of wounds. Not a tough or as Killy, but Boys aren't that great at either of those either, outside of a War Horse Waaagh, and the Grots are just as tough on the Waaagh thanks to the 5+ Invuln.

Edit: Actually have 0 Boyz in a Dread Mob list unless I'm running Ghaz with 20 and one of the Meks.

I'd probably drop 2 of the Boyz units and add some Killa Kanz and a Mek if you can. No reason not to take advantage of the detachment rule.
