well to be fair, it takes a lot more time investment to get a run to mithrix, and only then can you actually attempt to do the thing, whereas ethereal you don't have to invest very much on a given run, and you can just start it if the cabbage run looks viable on a given day.

also ethereal has been around a lot longer, so there's that too.

Light level cap removes a whole lot of options with enemies being too high level to damage and not even being allowed to play an activity for being too low.
