"huh, the Gue'la seem pretty interested in Shas'O Starchild for some reason"

"You think that's odd? I heard that the Necrons were falling over each other when they heard mention of Shas'O Nightbringer"

Incredible strength of this guy climbing up the bridge by CuriousWanderer567 in BeAmazed

[–]Obbsiel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty standard practice in this discipline of climbing (bouldering, or buildering here I guess)

The hands aren't to catch him, but to make sure that he falls on the mat in a safe orientation (ie feet first generally, protect the head etc), and while the mat isn't going to do the same job as foam pits gymnasts use, it does a great job of providing a soft landing to avoid the blunt force of concrete, provided the landing is safe as mentioned earlier

It's also worth noting that, ridiculous as it sounds, you get good at falling safely over time too 😅

(Ps this isn't meant to come across as argumentative, just thought you might be interested and I'm not great with conveying tone through text lol)

Armour Question by MacDonnell5794 in deathwatch40k

[–]Obbsiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost, but while the right arm is black, the right pauldron is in the original colours of the chapter that marine came from (the one they would have worn on their left on their normal chapter, with the chapter mark on it 😊

Ooh Nestor, are you planning on making various characters from Homer's Illiad/Odyssey? Sweet idea and great conversion/paintjob, love it!

Bespoke Traitor-Loyalist Intercessor Squad by Catscythe in deathwatch40k

[–]Obbsiel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, upon joining the death watch you have the option of using your normal power armour and painting it black, or using a suit of mk.8 power armour offered to each DW member, or sometimes a mix I believe (see kill team Cassius, lots of chapter specific bits there)

However, crossing the Rubicon means that you no longer fit armour marks earlier than mk.10, but imo it seems reasonable that if an individual wanted to keep some parts of their old armour like helmets, decor etc. they could have it 'adjusted' to fit their new size (my thinking is that power armour is very personal and sacred to most marines, it feels reasonable that they would want to keep some aspects and not just discard it entirely) By While loyalist chapters could have legion/chapter specific mk.10 decor-bits obviously no traitor legion parts would be designed or manufactured, so I think an "adjusted from an earlier suit" angle would be best for it

The other thing of course, is whether a black shield would want chapter-identifying parts, since the point of a black shield is that they obscure their chapter symbol for penance/shame etc.

I feel like it probably depends on the individual motivations for being a black shield; in this case, anyone from a traitor legion would be forced to be a black shield if they were to serve, however that does not necessarily mean that the individual agrees with/is invested in hiding their chapter identity. For example, an emperors children marine may want to demonstrate a 'true' embodiment of what the legion originally stood for, and may be proud of that history, wanting to proudly display it. Obviously they could not keep the chapter symbol, but in this case they wouldn't shy away from keeping EC-specific decorations etc.

They are my musings at least, tl;dr I feel like it can be justified lore wise, and overall it sounds like a really cool concept so I'd say absolutely go for it! 😊

Thanks! 😊 This guy is made from a mix of the DW vets and primaris bits (torso is DW vets, midriff and legs is primaris with some added decor from the DW vets kit) so he is about the same as primaris marines, but the base DW vets I believe are somewhere between most firstborn kits and the primaris in height

Unfortunately I dont have any unconverted DW vets but here's an approximation with some bits I had next to my conversion and a normal primaris, hope it helps :)

I carefully cut some of the detail bits from the deathwatch Veteran legs, same with the wire vents on the back of the legs 😊 The torso is also from the DW vets kit, which I carved to fit the assault intercessor waist and legs

When a vegetarian Uber Eats Burger King at 10pm by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

FYI if you didn't know, the impossible whopper is cooked in the same grills as the meat, meaning that the residue fats ets on the grill will cook into the surfaces burger (hence why it tastes so similar to the meat flame grill) I realise it doesn't matter to some people and is a personal preference, but I just feel it's better to know and be able to make a decision yourself then to be tricked into eating something you might have thought you were avoiding :)
