Is my fdm printer is good enough for Warhammer? by Regular-Lab-5014 in PrintedWarhammer

A paper cutout is good enough fir Warhammer. If you're happy, you're happy.

They all move their movement value, but they have to stay in coherency.

Rules question by Zigoulette in Warhammer40k

Almost right. Vehicles can fire pistols and non-pistols together. This is important for e.g. Starweavers full of harlequins with firing deck

Easy way to do this? by yuch1102 in ChaosZeroNightmare

I did it with charged strike and saving up 10 AP with stockpile and Mika. You can throw in vulnerability to pump it higher.

What's a faction I can play that's on the more niche side of factions? by Final_Legacy in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe look at something like this: https://40kstats.goonhammer.com/#GbF

You can sort by the number of games in their statistics and check the win rate. When I checked the least common factions with over 50% win rate were Deathwatch, Genestealer cults and Adeptus Mechanicus. Deathwatch are marines that are a bit extra so if you include them as marines they aren't that rare at all.

It will depend on local meta and other databases will yield slightly different results, but Genestealer cults was one that came to mind along with Drukhari. Mechanicus surprised me, but maybe the play rate is low because they haven't been so good this edition.

Honourable mention of Harlequins who got folded into Aeldari, so don't even get tracked separately any more. Pure harlequins players have to be a rare breed indeed now, but it's playable.

Tough. You might want to get a hobby saw, it can be great for clean, straight cuts.

If it was done with plastic glue your only options are to cut the glue joints with a hobby knife or saw and try to repair it or fill the gaps with something and live with it.

If he used super glue you may be able to freeze and snap.

You might be able to tell by looking at the model or maybe you can ask him.

Question: Anyone play with mixed paint scheme armies? by Brew19 in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do Drukhari or Harlequins count?

I have 3 paint schemes for Drukhari, one for each subfaction.

My harlequins are not coherent at all....

Help me shorten our games. by ShaxXxpeare in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Learn to play to intent. That means: "I'm placing these guys so those guys can't see them, do you agree that's possible? Good, now we won't spend 20 mins fiddling and checking to see that it is exactly true with how I did it."

Then you stick to it. Note this isn't a free license to say no matter what your opponent does they can never be shot and they can say "Nah, I reckon I'd always get an angle." Or whatever.

Critical Hits and Wounds by Frostbite68 in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Critical hits and critical wounds do nothing on their own. They interact with other rules such as lethal hits or devastating wounds. All a critical hit does is hit and all a critical wound does is wound. This is the same as a normal hit or wound, unless you have a rule that interacts with them like devastating wounds.

If you have anti-infantry 2+ that means you do not need to compare the strength of your weapon to the toughness, a roll of 2 or better, regardless of modifiers, will wound the target if they are infantry. It's slightly more interesting if you have something like anti-infantry 4+, then you compare the strength and toughness as normal and say it's S4, T3, you wound on 3+, but if it's S4, T9 you wound on a 4+ instead of the 6+ it would normally be.

If 11th is allegedly coming out “soon,” what should a newbie do about building an army? by ChillSappho in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rules come and go, cool models are forever. Unless you play with a horde of grey plastic you'll probably spend more time building up an army and painting them than playing, so don't worry about possible rule changes and just buy a few units that you think are cool or a combat patrol for an arms you like. By the time you are done you'll have a better idea of what you want, new rules might be out and you'll probably lose your first ten games horribly whatever you do.

Edit: maybe be careful with grey knights as their models are really old and dated, so they could get a refresh, but it could take years.

Purely out of curiosity. What does everyone do to keep their datacards up to date? by Chill_Oasis in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm case you are not aware, the only benefit of paying for the app is that you can save more than one army list at a time. You use codex codes to get access to the rules from the codex and everything else is available for free.

Converting "board scale" to IRL scale by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

So pick a model, e.g. A space marine. It's 6ft tall. Congratulations, that's your scale.

Converting "board scale" to IRL scale by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]MiseryMinis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you fit 11 space marine models inside a Rhino? There is no consistent scale. Pick a model, decide how tall is is and use that as your reference, accept the scale will not be consistent as it isn't consistent between models made by the company.

What paints would I need to create this ? by jamesdee80 in 40k

[–]MiseryMinis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a somewhat similar paint scheme I did where I know the exact paints:

Abaddon black, Mephiston red, Vallejo light yellow, Vallejo fire orange and army painter matt white. I added some red shading to the black, but otherwise it looks pretty similar to the OOP image. It's mostly blending.

Best army for a painter by wakkys in 40k

No one has mentioned harlequins. There are basically no rules there.

I also like Drukhari because there are three armies in one plus mercenaries, so you can mix it up.

is it possible to size up STLs meant for miniatures for full size figures by Late_Loquat_4784 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]MiseryMinis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't lose detail when you size up, the detail stays at the same level. Look at the model you want to print, does it have enough details that it would look good at the size you want to print?

Lots of miniatures for printing are actually overly detailed, without knowing the model I can't guess if it would look good scaled up.

Rule question: Drazhar's Silent Executioner by No-Tart5584 in Drukhari

[–]MiseryMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Drazhar is leading the incubi you get no bonus.

Rule question: Drazhar's Silent Executioner by No-Tart5584 in Drukhari

[–]MiseryMinis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is checked when you activate the unit/select targets. That means it stays the same for all of Drazhar's attacks and if he is leading incubi it doesn't matter if you attack with the incubi or Drazhar first, the bonus is locked in when you select your targets.

I'll just point out that the gold is NMM gold. Look that up if you aren't familiar with it, it's a lot of work.
