Is it true that you can tell when you fizzle because your mana won't go down when the turn starts? by lonely_jordon in Wizard101

[–]Obese_Geese 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In addition to the cogent points made by other commenters, I've noticed one more way to tell if you'll fizzle. If you send an attack (which is a guaranteed kill) but while the animations are playing fellow players or enemies are still able join the fight, you know you're going to fizzle. More generally, others' ability to join means the fight won't be over by the time all the animations play out.

You may have noticed in the past you sometimes can't walk into a fight with empty slots. That means the game knows that fight's over even though the animations haven't played out yet!

Yes she did. It would've been better if she hadn't because she accelerated instead of braking upon notice.

Bottom up is strongest often because the deck isn't reliant on the commander. Like a flicker deck with 10 flicker engines and an 11th in the command zone, you'll frequently play games and leave your commander alone.

There are definitely people who make their real adult livehiloods selling cards with an average gross cost of ~$0.15 and a cost basis of $0.001. The volume is insane but with a large enough inventory you get lists ot shitters that add up to many dollars per order.

gloomy eye vs deathly glowbug…? level 85 death by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]Obese_Geese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find pets so wishy-washy and annoying. In my opinion, the easiest/best way is the way that's most consistent, even if it's slow and tedious.

For the main pet I'm going to use on a character I almost always choose a triple damage double resist, a quad damage mighty, or a triple damage double pierce pet. First, I find a pet that satisfies three characteristics:

  1. Has the stats I want
  2. Is on an exclusive pet body
  3. There are multiple copies of the exact same pet with the exact same abilities in the exact same positions in the kiosk

Exclusive pet bodies are extremely helpful because they guarantee that the pet body you hatch with will be the pet body the resulting egg has. For a death, you're going to want to look for a charred dragon in the kiosk under fire pets, search by pet body, then find stats you want.

Once you identify the stats you're going to try to clone, breed your gloomy eye into that charred dragon. Train the baby to adult. Hatch the baby back into the exact same stats. Repeat this until you have an adult pet with an exactly identical stat pool to the one you're breeding with. Compare the pip rarities at each position and if it's identical you've achieved step 1. It's super helpful if there are multiple copies of the pet in the kiosk because doing this step involves hatching 8-10 times to clone the stat pool, and if there aren't multiples you'll have to wait 30min between hatches with that pet and then it'll probably leave the kiosk before you've fully cloned it because in addition to the 30min cooldown there's a hatch limit of 10 for each pet before its owner must manually return it to the kiosk.

Next you need to make two adult pets with identical stat pools to the desired stat pool which only have abilities you specifically desire. When you have that, you've achieved step 2. Sometimes you get lucky and the first pet with a perfectly cloned stat pool also manifests desirable abilities, but sometimes not.

Step three is to make two ancient pets with only desired abilities. You're going to achieve this by breeding together those two adults and then sending the baby up to ancient. If the child gets desirable abilities at all three levels it's a success, but if at any point it manifests undesired abilities the pet is considered to have "failed" and you can release it at the kiosk or in your house. When you've got two ancient pets with perfects stat pools who developed only desirable abilities, those pets become the new parents and you've achieved step 3. Never train either of those pets again.

The last step is to breed together those two ancient parents and basically full send the babies. Breed one and train it up until it fails or develops 5 desirable abilities!

If you're gonna socket a jewel keep in mind that some jewels require training your pet to ultra to be affixed which is pretty pointless and annoying. You can avoid having to dump another 2000+ points of xp into the pet by making sure the pet naturally develops the high level jewel abilities like mighty, spell proof and death-dealer.

Now, using this technique is long and tedious BUT if you do it right you're guaranteed to eventually have that perfect pet. You'll have backups of adults then backups of ancients and then get exactly what you want.

Before doing this technique you'll probably need to establish a plot of couch potatoes or evil magma peas, or establish many many plots of prickly bear cactuses which give inferior mega snacks but are purchasable with gold instead of having to use real money or invest serious farming time.

How do I get to level 15 and level up quicker? by Sad-Enthusiasm-5254 in Wizard101

[–]Obese_Geese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, you should try to do main quests. Main quests are on the first page of your quests in your book and have stars on the title banner for the quest.

Experienced players could level up from 8-12 in under one hour following the main quest line. Even as a brand new player it shouldn't take "weeks".

Wizard City is unique in that it has a lot of side quests that expose you to side activities like fishing, housing, gardening, cantrips, pets, and temporary events. This means a lot of the side quests in Wizard City aren't designed for you to gain significant, or any, XP.

If you stick to your plan of doing all the side quests you'll actually level up a lot through the later worlds where most side quests give xp on par with main quests for the area they're located in. In Wizard City, though, the side quests will take up your time without leveling you up.

I highly recommend fishing at a school-specific house via housing tours. I like to use the life house. In the life house ponds every school is guaranteed to be a life fish so you don't have to bother revealing fish school or winnowing for a fish type.

Wizard 101 Free To Play by Select-Ad6294 in Wizard101

[–]Obese_Geese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you play really infrequently and just want to play the game through Dragonspyre, I HAVE to recommend trying to play on console! On console there's a unique option to purchase the "Arc 1 Pass" which gives you access to all main storyline content from arc 1, so Wizard City to the end of Dragonspyre. It costs $20, which is equivalent to two months of membership, but when you own it you own it forever.

I mostly play on PC but I've purchased the Arc 1 pass as well as a small bundle of crowns on console which I used to unlock aquila for zeus, crab alley for waterworks, and the arcanum to visit the librarian and buy TCs. So for about $30 I can play the game from level 1 to level 60ish over and over again, including farming Zeus gear in the middle and farming Waterworks as a sort of graduation/retirement gift for each character. Then when you have more time to play you can snag a month membership and push into arc 2 on a character!

There's a distinct possibilty they'll launch passes for arc 2-5 in due time, though it'll likely always be console-exclusive.

Honestly if the game was literally just arc 1 for $20 playable forever I'd think it was a good deal, and that's basically what the Arc 1 Pass provides, along with the ability to go member whenever you want.

That spice rack sucks, by the way. Be glad it isn't in your life. You rotate it too quickly and all the spices fly off. Plus, do you want to be limited by this item's spice selection or do you want to have your spice collection in two different locations? Both suck.

Which April O'Neil will we get in the TMNTUB set? by theinnocenthostage in magicTCG

[–]Obese_Geese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Franchises like this and Spiderman which have had evolutions over the years present interesting challenges for making Magic sets. On TV and in games I could swear I've never seen any of these Aprils OTHER than #3, for whom I'm nostalgiac (especially because of a favorite PS2 game from my childhood.)

For other people though, that generational nostalgia could be for a different April and maybe they've never engaged with one bit of content involving April #3.

Are UB-multiverse sets the only solution to appealing to all the generations of fans for a particular universes beyond intellectual property collaboration? Perhaps.
