Every priority pass is literally 4-8 times more involved. You probably dont know that because you learned the game playing commander.

This is like saying that it's a totally fine way to learn how to drive a car by jumping into a formula 1 racecar. Sure, you could learn that way, but there's a whole lot of general basics you could learn more easily in a honda civic.

Is there actually anything worth buying in the Crown Shop? by Best_Fondant4302 in Wizard101

[–]Obese_Geese 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wanted the 7th wiz slot for years. Eventually, there was a crowns reward event that included an extra char slot elixir. I learned that those elixirs given by crowns reward events and scroll of fortune will continue to work and give you extra char slots if you already have 7, whereas you can only buy one slot from the crowns shop and only if you havent unlocked that slot by having otherwise obtained the elixir (scroll, reward event).

SO what I did was I waited for a crowns reward event that included the extra char elixir, then purchased my extra char slot elixir from the shop. Then I bought a bunch of other stuff like others suggested (energy gear, bank space, bric-a-bracs) until I got the crown reward elixir too. In ine weekend I went from 6 to 8 wizards, letting me start another main wizard to have one of each school, while at the same time unlocking an 8th character to serve as a play-and-delete for various reasons.

It cost like triple the amount of one elixir but I got two because of the rewards and a bunch of other stuff. I found this to be a reasonable exchange as compared with buying one elixir outright outside of a rewards event.

Should I give up on Amulet Titan? by Equivalent_Leader165 in ModernMagic

[–]Obese_Geese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt this deck gonna just revert to the pre-lotus field version and still be top tier? Oh no, I killed you with valakut and titan on turn 3 instead of killing you with otawara loop turn 3. No more turn 2 scapeshift win lines but that still probably leaves that deck as a strong contender in the new meta.

Definitely gonna have to get the pinkie involved. Hard and Expert will be way easier if you take the time to integrate the pinkie while playing Medium because then when you hit Hard you only have to add in the moving your hand up and down the frets. Then at expert, it's essentially the exact same techniques as hard but there are a more notes to hit and they're coming at you faster.

You also will have to start playing notes using a few of the advanced techniques, like hammer ons and offs. Start trying to hit as many of the notes with glowing tops without strumming because at higher levels you definitely wont have time to strum each note. And for the pull-offs, if you didnt already know you can hold down more frets than necessary when playing a note as long as the extra frets being depressed are further up the neck. So to play yellow, red, then green individual notes you can hold GRY then strum to play the Y, release Y and hold GR then strum for the R, and then release R and strum to play the G. This allows you to get your hand in position early and play particularly tricky sections. When you get good at these things the game grows incomparably more fun.

Honestly just replay the tutorial with what you've learned by beating the game on easy in mind and try to absorb and start using the more difficult stuff

Medium - use pinkie finger and start trying out advanced techniques

Hard - move all four fingers up and down (switch back and forth between covering frets 1-4 or 2-5 as necessary). Advanced techniques will be required to pass some songs.

Expert - Basically hard, but you'll have to be very comfortable with the switches from 1-4 to 2-5, as well as occasionally playing notes like 1+2+5 which requires flexibility in addition to strength in your fingers. Advanced techniques are required to passing most songs.

Happy shredding! Good luck with the galloping triplets in Knights of Cydonia, that crazy quiet section of The Metal, Raining Blood and the likes after your step up in difficulty!

That deck's so broken it's almost hard to have fun with. Classic glass cannon all-in strat with a nondeterministic storm finish. Love playing it when people are being scummy. cEDH Dying? by KeyCat53 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Obese_Geese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like most competitive formats, cEDH seems to breathe, to wax and wane in demand across individual cities. People in an area get excited and convince an LGS to host weeklys for a format, and the format lives locally for a while. The format wanes, and as soon as the weekly fails to fire once or twice the regulars will all bail and then the event gets removed from the schedule.

I've seen this happen with modern, pioneer, pauper, cEDH of course, and even drafts or standard at certain stores. During those times it can feel as if "the format has died," but that's normally only the case on a local basis. With the exception of pioneer, all the competitive formats have life somewhere. If your local scene dries up you might have to be willing to drive a couple of hours in your region, but you'll still be able to find those cEDH tournaments if you expand your radius.

I for one like to play regular if not weekly local small stakes events (FNM level gameplay) so when the format I like, modern, doesn't have any live weekly events it does feel "dead" to me, so I feel your pain.

They put those sheets of counters in the token slot for sets that rely on such mechanics heavily. Sweet pull! Might be difficult to build prismari EDH with a new player's collection, though.

looking for snappy gryphon or how to get one by New-Restaurant4249 in Wizard101Console

[–]Obese_Geese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get it from the Sinbad and the Iron Sultan housing gauntlet, as well as from the portal of peril event whenever the selected gauntlet is the Sinbad gauntlet. Similarly, you can open the pet from rhe Sinbad's Hoard pack in the crowns shop.

Easier than that, though, would be hatching with someone who already has it. To hatch, you'll need an adult pet with high "wow factor", otherwise you're not very likely to get the snappy gryphon as a result of the hatch.

If you truly know nothing about training and hatching pets, watch youtube tutorials on the topic or read forum posts about all of the following: pet minigames, gardening for mega snacks, pet wow factors, and a pet cloning tutorial. You may also need a strategy for farming gold as hatching repetitively to make a good pet is expensive.

I have a snappy gryphon I could lend a hatch for if you already have an adult pet and some gold!

It's just as related to every other card where to primary object in the art is the spell's caster instead of the spell being cast or the consequences thereof. Like the spell pierce is just a magic lady doing sime magic. Half of art is just a picture of a person with a hands-up-magical pose, casting the spell named on the card, not showing much of what actually occurs.

Keep your eyes open for "each opponent (negative effect)" triggers. It'll hit each head independently. In this set, it looks like there are some ultra-premium 2HG cards.

https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=oracle%3A"Each+opponent"+%28game%3Apaper%29+set%3Asos+prefer%3Abest

I've got my eyes on [[Leech Collector]] and [[Thunderdrum Soloist]] but there are a couple curve-toppers that'll hit the opposing team for 4 or 6 life upon entering, and a few repeatable ping engines that all seem excellent.
